  • Why are all of their videos titled wrong?

  • Switched at birth is the reason I became interested in signing, I luv that show!

  • I think she's really Irish, you hear that accent come up sometimes.. xD

  • Most of the signs she says on her videos are wrong !!!!!

  • how is water supposed to be signed???

  • Melissa, you are the bessst of the best talented teacher!. THANKSSSS!

  • These words are not pronouns and you signed "water" incorrectly.

  • these arent pronouns......

  • Why are the descriptions wrong on so many of these expertvillage sign language videos?

  • Ever since I watched switched at birth I got so intressed in sign language :)

  • I want to meet him so bad. He is super cute

  • Understand if your from another contry your sign language is diffrent

  • I talk in sign language 2 curse at ppl AND to talk in class without getting in trouble... :DDDD

  • @aligoodwin

Mee.. And plus It's been a long time that I want to learn ASL :)

  • Whose here because of switched at birth

  • @AliGoodwin Me?! Is that wrong?

  • @AliGoodwin You know it! Best show ever on ABC Family. Im a nine lives of chole king kind of girl but it got cut off.);

  • i do sign language at school to talk to speical needs kids, these videos help me teach them more. thank you.

  • Love in sign language is crossing your arms over your heart

  • yeah her hand placement was wrong

  • that is true she did sign water wrong.. I even know water :D

  • whydoes the title and picture for the video not match up with the actual video? none of these are pronouns:P

  • With the "W" you tap your index finger with your chin a few times. she did the other way both are correct, my brother cant tell the difference.

  • You make a 'W' and tap your forefinger against your chin (if doing the sign with your right hand, your palm would face the left as you tap your chin.) hope that made sense.

  • How to do you say i love you in sign language ?!

    <3

  • @sweetsforchu u make the rockstar shape with your hand hope i help!! :)

  • BETH4crhis,,,,,HOw do u sign for water??? then

  • When she said apple, was that actually the world for incest?

  • if u continually press 5, then it looks and sounds like she is milking a cow. hahahaha

  • Banana is most certainly NOT a pronoun Mrs. sign women

  • For those of you asking what she's signing wrong (or if her signs are correct) - her sign for "eat" is exaggerated, "drink" the head doesn't tilt back, "water" touches the index finger, not the ring finger to the lips, "milk" awkward/exaggerated - to quick squeezes is all it needs, "banana" she almost gets correct but 2 or 3 peels is all that's needed, "cookie" is not with a C. It's with a claw shaped hand (show 5 fingers, then bend them to hold a cookie cutter). Every single sign is wrong. Ugh!

  • um..my little sis was born deaf :( i really want to talk to her when i see her

  • um... thx, but i still dont no how 2 say "my name is"

  • @NerrissCullen you put your index and ring fingers up and the rest of your fingers down (on both hands) and place your two fingers together like an X

  • Her sign language is very poor...

  • This is one of my pet peeves... "Let's learn Sign Language" and not specifying which one you are teaching is a lot like saying "Let's learn Language" and then teaching French. Maybe the person wanted to learn Spanish. Maybe the person wanted to learn FSL and not ASL nor NZSL... There are thousands of Sign Languages... so please whether you are interpretor or just someone trying to help people, specify which form of Sign Language you are teaching; it'll help reduce confusion.

  • dam ads

  • hi i like village expert videos, and am thinking of learning the nzsl but i dont see any videos that are helpful. Maybe expert village are using signs that may become a univesal sign language that everyone can understand. They have had heaps of views and its something i may consider using in the classroom as an exercise. So if your a nzsl interpreter i would like to learn the correct way, but there doesn't appear to be a nzsl video that gives clear instructions.

  • i'm watching these videos and some don't seem right. the sign for owl seems odd and the sign she says in this vid for banana seems like it would take too long. i've seen people sign and they go extremely fast if they've been doing it for a long time. the banana sign she shows here takes a while to do which is why i'm now questioning everything she does now :/

  • @iliveforthemoment You're doing good to question this woman's videos and signs. Please, if you're truly interested in learning how to sign correctly, look for other sources. This woman knows nothing about sign language.

  • before you say someone sign "wrong" keep in mind there are many dialects within sign language.

  • @naty758 Trust me, it's wrong. And it's not a dialect error.

  • only turn the C back and forth, you don't bounce it (like I said... she bounces like a bunny)

  • She bounces around like a bunny, lol. And she's as tense as a verb. You should be more relaxed when signing.

  • (all of these videos have the wrong descriptions and wrong subtitles, lol...)

  • @Chadoacdc hi i like village expert videos, and am thinking of learning the nzsl but i dont see any videos that are helpful. • @greetdadawn Please, whatever you do, don't use this woman's videos as an "educational resource" in a classroom. Her signs are incorrect and she does not know sign language at all. These videos are nothing more than some random signs she's mimicking (incorrectly) from a book. There are MUCH better sources out there. Incidentally, there is an "international" sign language called "Gestuno" but it is not widely known. Focus on the sign language that is popular in your area instead.

  • @greetdadawn Universal sign? Oh no, no, no, it is not an universal sign. ASL belongs to American, Auslan belongs to Australia, BSL belongs to British and all three of them signs are COMPLETELY different even they all are in English sounds but signs are not the same. All over the world, just like speaking languages, signing languages are also different.

  • when signing does it matter which hands your using when doing the sign? im alot more comfrotable using my left hand i feel a tightness on my right so its harder for me to do certain sings like W's. Will it make a huge diffrence?

  • Sign language can be signed dfferently, just like English can be pronounced differently. No right or wrong.

  • milk milk milk milk fuck fuck fuck this is shit shit shit

  • I didnt learn a Single Word from the Discription.

    lol

  • @yoshy713 holy shit you're dumb as hell!

"theres this girl that cannot speak, so the only way to communicate with her would be sign language"? wtf... people that can't speak can still hear you dumbass.

  • @curbchallenged ok then...HOW WOULD I TELL A FUCKING DUMB WHORE TO SUCK MY DICK IN SIGN LANGUAGE?...better?

  • @yoshy713 Absolutely better I'm Glad you clarified. by the way i would just go to an online dictionary to find what you are looking for.

  • @curbchallenged GRACIAS :) .....yea ima just go ahead and go to a dictionary since this bitch doesnt wanna show me.

  • thanks be to God always right?

  • you guys are so helpful thank you so much

  • THIS IS VERY GOOD, IT HELPS ALOT,

  • Um, the captions on all these videos are for the wrong videos ... WTF?

Also, the Auslan (Australian Sign Language) signs for "eat" and "drink" are almost exactly the same (you generally tap twice for eat) ... hardly surprising I guess.

  • I hate how she keeps repeating and repeating ok ready for this MILK MILK MILK over and over cookie cookie and again cookie cookie she nuts man

  • Haha its kind of funny, but useful .

  • she signed water wrong.

  • whats the correct form?

  • wht is the wright 1

  • @beth4chris1 yes, she did if she was using ASL. It's the right initial, wrong motion for ASL; it may be a regional variant (I think she uses Canadian variations.) However, the correct ASL sign is the initial W, with the forefinger touching the lips and moving the w in a small dowward arc from the lips (for anyone who needed to know.)

  • @beth4chris1 did she? what is it then?

  • @beth4chris1 then how do you do water i need to know

  • @beth4chris1 There's different variations in sign language just like theres different ways to spell things in the us versus canada

  • you can't really expect her to use "facial exressions" with food or anything she's teaching .

you can't be all HAPPY with food or DEPRESSED

  • I know little of Sign Language, but I know this lady is Canadian... and isnt ASL American Sign Language?? I cant help but wonder if it is just that she is using the more European "dialect" for SL.

  • She's Canadian, and in Canada, there are two sign languages used, ASL, and LSQ. She is not displaying/teaching any kind of Canadian or European dialect, she is just plain wrong. She is not a sign language expert of any kind, she is a Canadian broadcasting personality.

  • How do you know shes Canadian??????

  • I know nothing of sign language, but I want to learn. And I want to learn the correct way. Maybe if everyone who says she's signing wrong would post videos where they sign right, it would help the rest of us using Melissa's instructions catch the wrong before we spend time learning it this way?

  • jenNjuice84, don't bother with this woman. See BYUFanatic on YouTube for someone who is a Deaf ASL teacher who actually knows what they are doing. Instead of learning it wrong from this woman, then having to be corrected.

  • I am a teacher of the deaf and hard of hearing....most of her signs are incorrect and also...where are her facial expressions!!!

  • I am Sign Language Interpreter,

I have seen all the videos for this sign language tutorial and actually, all of her sign are correct. for those who think that she is completely wrong, well sorry but you are WRONG. Sign Language is apart of deaf culture, deaf people are just like us. they have their own "language" and slang. many deaf people sign the names of places or even simple everyday signs differently,

Americans spell it colour and i spell it color. think about it, before you judge it.

  • Sorry, I am an ASL teacher and I have also trained sign language interpreters. If you had been in my classes you would agre with me that there are MANY errors in all of this person's videos. I judge her videos based on my knowledge and expertise rather than on unfounded opinions. I STRONGLY suggest NOT using her as a tool for learning ASL correctly.

  • I'm sorry, dubois666, but all of her signing is not correct. I know that and I am NOT a sign language interpreter, just an ASL student. That shows you how incorrect she is, if someone with as little experience as I have can tell she's no expert. This is not an accent or slang. She is just plain wrong. Ask any Deaf person to review her videos and they will tell you the same thing. She is neither an ASL teacher nor is she Deaf. So how does she qualify as an "expert" in any way?

  • It would be nice for the people who write that she gets signs wrong to actually point those out for those of us trying to learn.

I haven't been learning sign language for long at all but it seemed wrong to describe the sign for milk as the letter C going into the letter S. Yes, it looks like that, but it's only useful to point it out when it has significance like in water as far as I can tell.

And you people throwing insults around, don't comment unless it's constructive. No one needs that.

  • Candice - this "teacher" makes many frequent errors. Rather than asking others to point out each individual error, you're better off finding someone who doesn't make the errors in the first place. The errors in her signs are common errors made by someone who tries to learn sign language from a book (which she obviously has). If there was a way to have her banned for trying to pass herself off as an expert of my language, I'd have done everything I can to get her banned a long time ago.

  • Some people actually made very useful comments on her videos and I've been watching your videos for 3 days because of them directing me to good sources.

  • Thank YOU! :)

  • Sorry to say I am hearing and have only been learning sign language for a little over a month now. I must admit she gets at least one sign wrong every video. Clearly not an expert, plus she isn't much of a teacher. I know I am new to signing and the culture. Although these videos tend to be misleading I still think they are helpful. If a person wants to find a sign a deaf person may recognize and maybe they will show you the right sign. If you want to learn meet deaf people and sign!

  • you arre dorks . c for milk. assholes. milk is the movement when the farmers take the milk from cows boobs. what assholes/. also where is the sing the expression of the face?

  • the milking motion actually refers to what it looks like: milking, not milk. she shows the sign for the actual liquid, not the process of milking like you're referring to.

  • you havent understand yet what i am saying. maybe i dont know english well! But...the cow doesnt go : a c into an s. is she really expert. i am still laughing. as for the banana. this movement is the sexual meaning of banana. it doesn't need the handmorph of the dick. so amatuer sing language.

  • GOOD LESSON THANKS FOR POSTING!!

  • You are so ignorant and stupid we have to appreciate sign language

  • bracknel0babe is saying, don't use signed English to try to communicate with someone who knows BSL (British Sign Language). "English sign" (or signed English) is not BSL or ASL.

  • In almost every video, she makes a mistake, and she is teaching signed English, which is a type of sign language used in the States and Canada, that is not ASL but uses similar looking signs, that are initialized (letter hand shapes) and is used in English word order. As I understand it, it was developed to help "bridge the gap" between English and ASL, but I think it just wound up confusing people. ASL is a real language, signed English is sort of artificial and made up, in my view.

  • I think this is more signed english than ASL but the signs are still similar.

  • Relabeling the description to be the correct words would be very helpful

  • this is reli interesting!! thx for uploading!! but I am actually quite glad I am capable of speaking

  • just to let you all no thats american so dont go round signing what shes been showing to deaf english people they wont have a clue what your saying. xxx

  • Actually, I think some of it is. My ASL teacher uses some of the signs she uses. I guess it just varys.

  • who cares if drink wasnt on the list?

  • learning alot

  • She says it's phrases.. but it's just words...

  • hey now! DRINK was NOT on the list!

  • Thank you!!!
