My wish growing up was to work with gaming nd art and now I'm sooo happy my wish is almost coming true! But sadly I'm still in high school. :/ Great thing is I found out about it so young and now know so much about the jb and everything, through I'm still learning!
im 14 and i wont to step into the world of game design this isnt the kind of talk like: I want to be a firefighter then give up its been my goal since i was 10
and i will never give it up NEVER!!! so can anyone give me any tips to being succesful
I don't know much about software but I do know people can start out as game testers and advance into a game designer so college is not needed for game design. If you wanna be a character designer or game artist pretty much the only thing that you need is good art skills. A big plus is to be some type of illustraitor for a few years most game concept artist are former comic book and manga artist. But i'm sure it's possible to get a job with them without being any kind of illustraitor.
no, a game tester cant become a game designer, a game tester plays the games and writes reports. a game designer must be heavily skilled in art, 3d design or programming......
@predatortheme Not true lot of game designers are former game testers. And no they don't have to be heavy skilled in art they have to be good on computers and skilled at 3D design. Concept artist however have to be very skilled in art on both pencil and computer such as photoshop. Game Designers also have to have great writing skills like extreamly good writing skills.
@futureanimatior Now, I have a question. When you say writing skills for Game Designers; are you talking about writing code, or are you talking about writing on paper?
Yeah i agree YoursTruelyMe2 If there is anyone Setting up a Company, I Would love to Join to make Games, Im working on Games Design softwares and Hoping to get Better at it :)
@YoursTruelyMe2 how do you begin a company?? i know your comment is 90 days old but can you help me out how do you start a company and make it work like so wont be a down fall thanks man :D
@Distrub122334 Depending on what type of business your starting the first thing your going to want to do is start researching right now. Educate yourself on everything you could possibly know about the area you plan to go into, once you know you should go to the local court house and get a business license, permits, copywrite your name, depending on what your trying to start some things will be different and vary by state. One book I would suggest: Entrepreneur Magazine "Start Your Own Business"
@YoursTruelyMe2 Well of course starting your own company would be the most desirable ideia. The thing is.. its not as easy as u make it sound mate lol
kevin... learn how to google... if you got a passion for games such as i do... youll do so much googling to learn this stuff its unreal... like you, i have a dream to create something great and put it into a game... a huge dream of mine... create something everybody who plays the game would enjoy... i couldnt imagine the feel of accomplishment when i i actually accomplished my dream.. i cant wait for that moment
im 16 and im going to be a senior in highschool next year and i woud REALLY like someone to help me with some questions i have because i LOVE games and since i was 5 i knew i wanted to do somthing with games, and game designer seamed like a good idea but, im not EXACTLY sure what they do, how they do it, and what the requirments are, sure these videos tell you somthings about it but im not sure what ANY of the programs hes talking about are so if i cant do that would i still get a job? plz pm me
dude the guy thats on the video isint this guy hes just getting videos that hes seen on tv or online and hes using them to teach ppl how to do stuff thats y his name is eHow but lol i get where ur coming from im 13 to and this is my dream job 2 its like 1 of the best jobs any1 can have other than being a pilot
theres no way you could make a nex gen game by yourself, theres so many jobs, programming, character design, level design ect it would just take to long. even if you did manage to make one only 20% or something stupid like that actually get published.
My advice would be always to research about it until you get to collage to take some good classes, and in school learn about computers and designing as much as you can.
Games development is generally (even on small casual titles) a team based process. This is down to several things, including:
- Diverse and focused skill sets: 1 person will never have the ability of multiple specialists
- Solid concept: 1 persons ideas may be good, but with more constructive input the game can be so much more.
Basically, its more efficient, effective and fun to work in a team. If you want to do it all on your own, I would suggest that the games industry isn't for you!
@Youshless yousdhless i know your comment is like 120 days old but can you help me out what does it take for a game designer what do i have to do like whats the first step to get started on it thanks :D hope you replay
@Distrub122334 Hi, well I would say that you need a lot of passion and determination! It's a really tough industry, but one that can be super gratifying and fun one your in.
What's your forte? Where does your passion lye within games?
Playing Games?
Art?
Programming?
Designing?
Producing?
Probably better to PM me, as this isn't really functional ;-)

Forget working for Bungie. Don't be so determined to work for someone else. Start your own company and build it to be bigger than Bungie.

@YoursTruelyMe2 Although, I'd say it's highly recommended to work at a big studio for few years and learn how the industry works.
