Gandrayda actually takes the time to give Samus some rather important infomation...

They most likely dont want to attack her but the Phazon (and thus Dark Samus) is forcing them.

If you look just before you fight Rundas, you see Dark Samus's mask, so she might've just went ahead and possessed him since the corruption was taking too long. As for the other two, they gave into the Phazon. Rundas might have, too, but it seems more likely he was still fighting it and Dark Samus took over.

maybe, or maybe it is just to show to the player that rundas is fully corrupted

its weird that he doesn't speak though, so maybe your right, although dark s. absorbes him at the end of the fight, and she appears in the same sudden way with all of the hunters...

I actually didn't like this game when i first played it but now having played through most of metroid prime (just got done beating omega and doing some more chozo artifact hunting) I might reconsider playing this one again. I will have to rerent it though.
