Well, it's a legitimate question for a reporter to ask of a manager whose team hasn't won a game in 11. If Roy doesn't like it, tough.
If he wants to model a Fergusson-like disdain for reporters, then he better have a management record like Sir Alex and win some silverware. As it is, he hasn't and trying to stare out reporters just makes him look stupid and ignorant.

Roy gave everything he had for any jersey he ever put on. He's approach was 'be world class'. He wanted to be the best (and he was). Siapan... He is the first Irish man I can think of who has stood up and THIS IS WRONG! Thats what really shook people - he stood back and said NO, Im not having this amatur approach anymore - even if it costs me. I like to think that since then more Irish people have stood up to injustices they are suffering, even if they end up ridiculed for it.

Sure. Anyone who cheats or intentionally injures in any way is a disgrace, IMHO. There are thousands of people who have played this game in the right spirit, but have also shown that it is possible to play with maximum effort, aggression & pride (Keano's positive attributes) WITHOUT being abusive, barbaric, graceless, egocentric & downright violent (Keano's more prevalent dark side).

Roy Keane embodies pretty much everything that's WRONG with professional sport. He's a violent, petulant loud-mouthed cheat and is an embarrassment to the game, his country and his family. I defended Keane from his detractors until he engineered his departure from the World Cup in 02 and tried to pin it on Mick McCarthy, a decent man whose weakness he exploited. We were then subjected to the greatest spin campaign from Roy and his friends in the media. I will never forgive him for walking away on the cusp of a world cup. I hate to say it but I feel vinidcated that he is now being found out for what he is.

If Keane never walked from Sunderlandthe reporter probably wouldn't have asked that question Keane is no manager. He spent loads of money at Sunderland then walked out. Ipswich were tipped for big things this year and with the players they have they should never be bottom Keane is not doin the job there.

He was a great player and in his time, played under great managers. It probably frustrates him he can't be both a great player & a manager like Clough or Sir Alex. How could you live up to those high standards? I respect Roy still. He was right to give out about the IFA. World cup was a junket for the heads & what happened to the players was almost an afterthought. Mick McCarthy had to toe the line but Keane didn't, spoke his mind & left. We may of beaten Spain that day had he been playing.
