  • 0:56 LAY DOWN YOUR MIND EXISTENCE

  • Tomorrow Never Knows cover, enjoy ;), youtube.com/watch?v=OCItLAubi8I&feature=related

  • McCartney was great, but he had no FUCKING idea what was going on in John's head in 1966.

  • the best part: 0:11 to 0:34

    JOHN♥

  • 1:25 <-------- What the fuck is Mick Jagger doing here?

  • @mahavishnuxc it's at 1.15 and he's hangin out in the studio

  • @mahavishnuxc listening to the beatles record a masterpiece! what else??

  • What struck me the first time I heard this song, everything except the basic tracks (drums, vocals, bass) is backwards.

  • :D

  • Ringo Starr is one of the best drummers of all time, in "Tomorrow Never Knows" you can prove it, he is awesome

  • @juancvl96 If I am not mistaken it is actually a tape loop of his drums (which is genius anyway).

  • George:"We were just a little dance hall band.."

    God love him.

  • Ow, my fingers are getting sore from holding the same chord for so long

  • I laugh when i see so many people talking about every band from the 60''s 70's and how good they are when everybody knows that the greatest band actually was the Beatles.

  • @PhillyDippy5 I love 60's music, The Beach Boys was a great band don't you think, know about anyone else?

  • @M3town33 I only will tell you: their most popular song was written by Chuck Berry, Surfin de USA is a plagiarism of Sweet Little Sixteen by chuck Berry.

  • Veronica Tangent ups the ante set by George Martin, John Lennon, Geoff Emerick and Paul McCartney, and records a live version which is a CRAB CANON - it's the same whether played forwards or in reverse!

  • this is what means genius in music meanings

  • Where was Ringo during this?

  • First, there was this "dentist "......then the flaming elevator......

  • anyone know this version of the song?

  • ringo sparking up a big doob:P

  • what type of sound would this underlie?

  • 0:55 lay down your mind existence

  • @FrankBatorIII yes i noticed that too. but hey 30 years had passed before paul did this interview.

  • @briney1973

    All those drugs lmao

  • Mick and others did the "gang" vocals on Yellow Submarine..... and smoked some weed while there.

  • I've got "Turn off your mind, relax and float downstream..." inked on my back, w/Revolver below it in the album font. Love this song!

  • the stones first single was written by the beatles

  • @rickhorvath

Not true ! their first single was "Come on" by Chuck Berry - get your facts straight!!!!!

  • The simple story of how this song was made: They were tripping balls and this is what resulted. Great song though.

  • @LeBartman - Umm, no. Not according to Geoff Emerick.

  • I like The Beatles more than the Stones but as the other post says I also like the latter. I dont like how a lot of you tube space is taken up with slagging matches between rival fans however I feel like this slagging off starts more from the Stones camp than the Beatles camp. Just remember it was George who got the Stones a record deal. Without the Beatles there might not have been a stones. Lets all be grateful two great bands came into our lives, along with the Zombies, Kinks, Who,Yardbirds.

  • Beatles=pioneers

  • pretty good little dance hall band

  • At least Mick Jagger and The Rolling Stones outgrew that pop period and went onto to make great albums like Exile on Main St. I've always felt The Beatles, together or not, never really did; I still love them nonetheless.

  • @SyntheticEspionage you're joking, right?

  • Comment removed

  • @jddmr22181

I'm not joking but it isn't a negative comment either, I love The Beatles for their pop songs; I'm just sad the band didn't stay together to mature into the 70's because they could've done a lot more. I was just addressing the negative comments towards Mick Jagger, he's a great musician and The Rolling Stones are a great band with strong blues influences which John Lennon adopted later on. I just think some Beatles fans live inside a bubble and don't explore other bands thoroughly.

  • @SyntheticEspionage Got it....appreciate the clarification. I like the Stones, too (along with a boatload of other artists of all different styles). I must confess I'm more of a Keith Richards fan compared to Mick. And I agree that some Beatles fans will not give proper due to others. I'm not one of those, although the Beatles are, by far, my favorite band.

  • @SyntheticEspionage - Some may live in a bubble but I'm a Beatles fan and love finding all the musical connections The Beatles had...the r'n'b influence whereas the Stones leaned towards the 'blues'..how the Beatles influenced the Stones and Dylan and how Dylan influenced the Beatles..the great thing about that time ('64 - '70) was that it wasn't that much a contest. All those amazing artists inspiring each other.. an unbelievable fertile time in music, unlikely to be repeated in our lifetime

  • @terrythekittie Couldn't agree more, an amazing time for music. The close knit community of artists spanning many all mediums is something that makes the pop culture of the 60's so fascinating. I was surprised to find that John Lennon was good friends with Miles Davis!

  • @SyntheticEspionage - yes..On the 'Lennon Legend' DVD there is a clip where he meets Miles Davis..now that's another great artist I am learning to appreciate it after all these years..as for great artists today they are very thin on the ground.

  • @SyntheticEspionage you really think they never got beyond pop?

  • John Lennon>>>Mick Jagger

  • The first band to ever Mix a song on top of another!! before hip hop artist!

  • Yeah, Mick Jagger went there to learn 2-3 chords....and left with 2-3 chords next 50 years.

  • It is not dying...

  • ok I melted away at 1:04 - gone

  • ringioziems ;D i like it

  • his voice sounds so awsome its like wahh wahh yesh!!!! :3

  • Jagger was learning from daddy. :)

  • never underestimate thr input from george martin superburb

  • This clip really makes me miss John... and George too... shit.... such is life. Long live the Beatles!!

  • This should be the most viewed video of all time. Seriously.

  • ringo is such a badass at 1:10! XD

  • Such a great tune!!! Phil Collins did a nice cover of it in 1981 on Face Value.

  • nice john i <3 this song :)

  • It still amazes me how the Beatles created such incredible music in the studio without the aid of any of today's computer technology. The Beatles forever!!

  • I. White Album. II. Abbey Road . III. Revolver. IV. All others...

  • SOMEONE HELP ME!!!

what part is within you without you and what part is tomorrow never knows? cuz im learning these john lennon songs for a show im gonna playy and it says within you without you is george and tomorrow never knows is by john lennon

  • hahahaha that is mick jagger

  • the beatles set the tone for music no band ever comes close to what the beatles achieved in sucess and greatness

  • Amazing!

    xoxo

    The Clarences

  • F***ing GREAT song ever!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i agree.

  • TNK is genius, pure genius. I'm glad John was risky enough to overdo it, because he created an awe-inspiring 3-minute adventure through absolutely terrifying tape loops. Awesome.

  • The off beat effect on this song really makes it..

The demo they have on this is to the beat, and somehow they were able to take the singing off the beat a bit....

  • A killer song:

You can't get anymore Avante Garde than "Rye Bread in a Mixer"!!

  • The BBC's SoundsOfTheSixties BEATLES A to Zed song for week starting SAT05DEC09. Quite a long mini docu is done on this song that is recognised as being WAY AHEAD of its time using new recording techniques [Tape loops] that THE BEATLES devised. It is about 35 mins into the prog that can be heard for 1 week after 5 Dec ENJOY

  • Lennon was a fucking revolutionary bastard

  • which album was it on that john accidentally had an acid relapse in the studio? was that revolver or Sgt. pepper?

  • i thinksgt peppers cause thats most of their trippy music if you know what i mean.

  • It was Sgt Pepper

  • @101011we It was Revolver.

  • @101011we Revolver not Sgt.pepper :P

  • "psychedelic"

  • well actually rubber soul had some wierd stuff on it (being a pot album) but this was the first psychadelic (acid) album they did

  • at 1:10 is ringo smoking pot or a ciggarette

  • A cig mixed with a little reefah. ;-)

  • to rockbandzkid55: i think it is a cig for two reasons.....it looks too perfect and thick and the beatles were pretty heavy cigarette smokers back then

  • LOVE IT

    TERRY !!

  • 1:05 Wouldn't it be great to see a video of this session? None exist though so sad. They should of had hidden cameras at every session.

  • genius genius genius..

  • the beatles the best band ever!ª!!!!!

  • Hey, there's Mick Jagger swiping ideas from The Beatles!

  • HAHA!

  • as usual

  • @rgkrenkel Yeah Right...they sound just the same...great. Shut up and think before talk.

  • @rgkrenkel well if your gonna steal, then steal from the best :D

  • @rgkrenkel lol

  • what are malapropisms? tell me what it is and give me an example. tomorrow never knows rules!

  • I got this from wikipedia...:

"substitution of an incorrect word for a word with a similar sound, usually to comic effect. "

    ex:

"It's not the heat, it's the humility"

"What are you incinerating?..." (i.e., insinuating)

  • love this song.. i don't care if people say it sucks.. I <3 it!

  • Great song. Simple lyrics that pretty much describe "going with the flow."

  • Then Paul got a hold of it, and crafted all the tape loops and noises and stuff. It was a perfect collaboration. Cool song.

  • was that mick jagger w/ john on 1:16?

  • I think it's Mick. They were hanging out a lot, the Beatles and Stones.

  • @jagatinho Yet it Was Mick :)

  • @jagatinho yup that's Mick. He can also be seen during the All You Need is Love broadcast

  • @jagatinho you might be interested to watch?v=wBv0wRp92jQ and see a great pic of McCartney in the studio with Keith (and someone else) ... the video is an early take of "2000 Light Years from Home" without vocals

  • @jagatinho It is Mick. Notice The Beatles would make an album with new sounds and the Stones would copy that for their next album. I.E. "Norwegian Wood" (Sitar), "Mother's Little Helper"

  • Jagger was learning...

  • hahaha

  • @rilinho1 He must have been a poor student then.

  • @pclvmuzic Yes that's Mick! :)

  • Comment removed

  • @pclvmuzic Duh, yeah. You never saw Mick when he was younger??

  • @pclvmuzic yeah wide-eyed with amazement at his "big brothers" :)

  • Yes. Yes it is. @pclvmuzic

  • @pclvmuzic yeah that was deffinetly the mickster

  • @pclvmuzic Yes.

  • @pclvmuzic yeah it is indeed. They were all friends, and in fact the Beatles lended them a hand when the Stones were starting out (they have their own version of "I Wanna Be Your Man")
