20 years ago and Perot made the example of Americans making $12-13 dollar an hour working a factory job here. If a factory opened where I live right now and offered that they would have people lined up around the block applying for jobs. And the cost of living has has probably close to doubled since then. Ross Perot was right, just wrong time wrong country. Mexico NAFTA impacted us less than losing jobs to China and India. The reason Perot was wrong about Mexico was he did not anticipate how much illegal immigration from Mexico took the jobs here instead of Mexico, which allowed at least some money to be re-invested here than out of the country.
Now today we have terrible unemployment, the middle class is being wiped out, running out of unemployment benefits, savings, etc.

There would be a strong backlash against raising tariffs on imports since the US basically replaced them with the income tax as the primary way of financing government. I argued this election with two people for almost a year to find that all of my efforts were for naught. Niether of the two people I was discussing with was registered to vote. Talk about a waste of air.

Businessmen do well in business, but not in government. Look at most businessmen who went into govn., for eg., Schwarzenegger in California. They think they can order people around as in private industry, it's not like that at all. Anyone here work for any govn., state or federal? I worked for my state years ago, and all I can say is, it's faster watching grass grow. Used to drive me crazy trying to get things done. Ross was very right about NAFTA, and I agreed w him about THAT!

@lushfauna There are huge differences between Ross Perot and Ron Paul. Ross Perot was not about destroying the government of the United States. Ross Perot took care of his people and was a patriot. I voted for him and also worked for his once great company EDS.

I think the staus quo has done a great job at that giving all our jobs to china our future enemy and getting us in B.S. wars for crude. What don't you agree with Ron on anyways?
