  • Befitting anthem of highly intelligent and hard working people. But why i have this feeling that Japanese people are not happy people though very rich.Something seems missing.

  • shut the fuck up! Its there countries PRIDE! leave it alone! fereal! don't fuck with other people pride! how the fuck would you like it if they called Your anthem a "wuss national anthem". dont make fun of this kind of stuff!

  • what a wuss national anthem, it's not strong.

  • @LethalSystem You're just a bowl of sunshine, aren't you?

  • Our Country is the losgest reign in the world and our Eemperor family has the longest royal history in the world. Proud to be Japanese.

  • I love Japan.

  • We're praying .

  • May my respect bless on Japan

  • After hundreds of years of people looking down on Japan, even after one great attempt to stand up for what they believe, only to be nuked by tyrants, Japan still contains the most peaceful spirit of all. While other countries anthems are about fighting and bombs blowing up around them, Japans is still about a wish for happiness and peace.

May Hiroshima and Nagasaki never be forgiven, and may our generation stand up against tyranny so that we can once again sing calmly about happiness and peace.

  • @Weemancake You're joking right? One great attempt to stand up for what they believed? The government was totalitarian. It was a horrible time to live. You would be executed for doing anything that wasn't 100% for the benefit of what the government says you should do.

It's ironic that you'd call the allies tyrants when war-time japan was allied with nazis. You're either being facetious or an ultra nationalist blinded from the truth.

  • @ultraguy14 If anyone is blind here, its you.

...For replying to a 3 month old comment.

Im not even going to bother with your ignorance, either, since you obviously dont even know why Japan sided with "the nazis".

  • @Weemancake Just because something is old it's not allowed to be responded to? I fully know why Japan sided with Nazi Germany. But I don't see why you're calling my knowledge of their alliance into question. I am merely pointing out the irony of you calling the Allies tyrants when war-time Japan and Nazi Germany were pretty much the literal definition of Tyrant.

  • @ultraguy14 Exactly what i expected from you.

A reply made up of not only completely nonsense but also prejudice and an obvious biased view based on propaganda.

Go support the next american genocide or something.

  • @Weemancake American genocide?... You're just trolling right? You're talking about American genocide when one of the main points of Nazi Germany was genocide? But you're trying to defend an alliance with them. Are you Japanese? Do you even know any Japanese? I don't know anyone but ultra right wing zealots that actually consider what happened during ww2 to be a good thing.

  • @ultraguy14 Obligatory pro-american, prejudiced, one-sided reply.

As you still think the Japanese are "bad" because they sided with the Nazis, you obviously dont know why.

America is one of the countries responsible for the biggest genocides.

Such as the firebombing of Tokyo.

The use of nuclear weapons (twice)

    Agent Orange

    And so on.

If i were as prejudiced as you, i'd hate america for merely killing the 12 million natives during the initial "oh look, new lands, now its ours" period

  • @Weemancake Firebombings were an act of war, nuclear weapons were an act of war. If you can call that genocide then ever death during every war ever was an act of genocide. Genocide is the deliberate killing of a group of people simply because they are apart of that group. Two nations going to war over oil disputes doesn't constitute a genocide.

Also why do you keep calling me pro American when I have never once singled out and mentioned America, only the Allies.

  • @ultraguy14 Terrorism is deliberate killings of civilian people in order to gain a political advantage.

Wouldnt that make america responsible for the biggest terrorist act in history?

If you take everything litteraly and avoid facing the fact that the allies, specifically america, did commit genocide, be it an act of war or not, would that mean that i should think that 9/11 was okay just because these terrorists cannot declare war? (appearently america can declare war on terrorism though...)

  • @Weemancake I'd have to say the murder of hundreds of thousands of Chinese citizens and disarmed soldiers and well as the rape of tens of thousands of women in Nanking would would a much worse. The Nanking massacre sounds more like the attack of a barbarian horde than the army of a civilized nation.

  • @ultraguy14 Just because the Japanese were portrayed as primitive through propaganda doesnt mean they were.

As a matter of fact, the US was lacking behind technology wise about 40 years. The reason they won was their industrial might, not their technology.

The rape of Nanking doesnt justify the killings of hudnreds of thousands Japanese civilians. Japanese people are ashamed of the Nanking disaster, but americans celebrate their firebomb and nuclear weapon strikes even today.

  • @Weemancake I meant barbaric in the sense that the attack was so brutal. Not primitive technologically.

I've never heard of anyone celebrate firebombings. The nuclear attacks are herald as the strike that ended the war though, so I can see why they wouldn't be considered bad by the majority of people. In all reality if the war continued for another year or so it's estimated that millions would have been killed on both sides in the planned invasions.

  • @ultraguy14 The reason to drop the nuclear bombs was because america realised that the biological weapons they had planned to use agains the population of Japan wouldnt make them look too good, and because they needed to test the effects of said bombs.

At the end of the war, the only way millions of BOTH sides would have died would be an american invasion.

Japan itself was very dangerous to the allies within their then limited range. Beyond that they were harmless, as most islands were lost.

  • A peacefull prayer for Japanese mythtic Gods.

  • Did I ever believe knowing this would be of use?

It was, last Sunday, when it seemed I was the only one. . .much less only gaigin. . .singing this in a crowd of Japanese. I sang this, and the words to the Star Spangled Banner, proudly.

  • @annegold what do you mean?

  • Sounds like the Buddhist chanting I hear everyday...

  • that was a hell boring music ever!!!

  • I'm not being racist, just compare this to the Russian national anthem.......

    JUST DO IT!!!

  • This is a pretty good anthem, though America so far is better. This sounds like it came out of avatar.

  • I see now why Japanese make the best video games. This reminds me of Zelda OOT btw.

  • mystic

  • I'm from america however I'm laotian. I prefer this anthem. I won't argue about who is better, because I don't know nor care. I love and respect japanese culture and wish to visit someday as well as visit Laos. And I thought Tennesse was full of racists, ugh. sad excuse of a human

  • @FiddlerAdam IT wasnt a Brittish drinking song ... it was in the TUNE of the British drinking song :) Matta ne :)

  • very beautiful ! and its nice to see that there are also Americans who are not full of hate !

  • @FiddlerAdam the star spangled banner was set to the tune of a british drinking song but the words were written by francis scott key in 1814 after the battle of fort mchenry, the lyrics are 100% american

  • Ubloom3 how could u ever say something so absoulutley horrird!! It's the past and their is nothig we can do change it yes what they did was wrong but that doesn't make them all bad. Bcuz they have the guts to fight for their country doesn't mean they were the ones who chose to control the other countries and tourture them like that.

  • @FiddlerAdam I don't really care where it came from (but thanks for the information); it's the music I'm interested in, after all (and that should be for us all).

  • They should put Letters from Iwo Jima music as Japan's national anthem :P

  • I like japan i think its an awesome place exept their eating habbits. Who kills whales and dolphins against the law???

  • @fatappletacos Killing whales and dolphins are the same as killing fish and crustacean. Which one is more dead?

  • 好き・きらいは、自由。 強制は、思想・良心の自由(憲法)に反する。

  • This sends shivers down my spine.

  • @HeiligesReich what is DPRK means anyway???

  • @HeiligesReich you i love nippon but i still love my country philippines

  • I love listening to other nations' national anthems. I am American, and so far the United States national anthem is my favorite. The words send shivers down my spine and inspire me. The Japanese national anthem is a good peaceful moving song also. Nice melody and tune too. Good video lilafila!

  • i like my own national anthem *duh*, this one, and call me soviet but i like the ussr choir, the one thats played at the end of COD matches just cuz it sounds so badass for some reason

  • @1enferno There is....

  • @1enferno teme

  • @1enferno No shit who do think wrote there constitution after we owned there asses. Shit we even took the liberty of writing in there constitution that they can't have an army.

  • @iTzGiNz Actually it was the Japanese that put article 9 in there voluntarily. Also, it doesn't mean they can't have an army, they do, it just means they can't invade with it, only defend.

  • @PhatFarm60 No shit every heard of the JSDF

  • @iTzGiNz Ummm no shit dude, you said they can't have an army, now you are talking about the JSDF... make up your mind, either you know what you are talking about or not... no need to get defensive with me kid

  • @PhatFarm60 You stupid asshole the Japanese self DEFENSIVE forces is not the Japanese ARMY. I swear dumb asses on you tube. If you type in Japanese army you will get world war 2 videos and information not JSDF videos and information idiot.

  • @iTzGiNz Eat shit faggot; defensive forces/army whatever, the fact remains that Japan can have armed services, no matter what the name is. The Japanese sent troops to Iraq, you call that a strictly defensive force? Furthermore, you said that it was the USA that forced Article 9 into the Japanese Constitution, when it was not. So who is the idiot here... I swear, fucking Youtube kids want to start a fight and run their mouth for any fucking reason.. I bet you are a shy little punk IRL

  • @PhatFarm60 Every sent forces to Iraq even lame ass Canada so don't give that shit. Secondly "Youtube kids" "shy little punk" Boy I am in the U.S. Army. I am a 25 Uniform don't even try to argue information that you can even get if your life depended on it.

  • @iTzGiNz "lame ass Canada?" You showed your true maturity level right there boy..

You are the type of American that walks around like the USA is better than anyone else, then wonder why you get insulted by Canadians and Europeans. Just for the record, I am not from Japan, nor Canada; I am an American who expects that our men and women in uniform represent our country better than you have shown so far. You are the one that started a Youtube pissing contest, not me; so don't question my maturity.

  • @PhatFarm60 Through out your whole comment you constantly put words in my mouth secondly you go on my page and called me a troll when you commented on me first here and you called me a troll HAHAHAHA WHAT HAVE THE DUMBASSES COME TO TODAY!

  • @iTzGiNz Yes I did comment first, but nowhere was I trolling... you started the inflammatory comments.. If it would start a right on the street, chances are it will start one on here, welcome to reality.

  • @PhatFarm60 Ok were done here. We are not even arguing about japan any more. Goodbye

  • @iTzGiNz

dont leave im here to argue that the USA is the best and japs dont have penises or souls

  • @Minnesotafan28

the USA is better then Japan? Lol for real dude, USA is nothing. You think the world looks up against the US but most are laughing at your fucked up country.

stupid people, lazy people, egoistic people, and a stupid culture.

and look what japan have, great people and a great culture.

gtfo and greetings from the Netherlands!

  • @southeparkfreak

    u r a nigger

    which means ur black

which means u h=get no rights

which means ur gonna get lynched

  • @Minnesotafan28 Unfortunatley you just proved his point about America. Plus you're a racist bastard. Maybe you should read Of Mice and Men, I'm sure you'd get off on that. Peace

  • @Minnesotafan28 just quit being racist. heard of the\ CIVAL RIGHTS MOVEMENT!recently??

  • @1enferno It is true these two still kind of hate each other

  • @brandonsipodapps We haven't hated Japan since the end of WW2. They are one of our greatest allies.

  • @smartbarley i dont care my uncle died in pearl harbor

  • @1enferno

USA = evil, they dropped the atomic bombs. No peace!

  • @TheSunmanho you're the 1 that's evil you go around saying crap like that! in the end you're so very wrong! & leave the past in the past you have not a single right to burden those of use in new generations with that! you are a disgrace! I am not speaking from a view of a american... or of any nationality I am speaking as a human being that see that everyone is equal. We all bleed red blood and we all breath air, we may have our differences but that too is something we have in common. YOU=EVIL!

  • @TheSunmanho you're wrong in so many ways & you are full of crap at that! you a disgraceful person that wrongfully knows their history that i don't care to talk of b/c it's in the PAST! but how dare you basing your judgement & who are you to make such a judgment! we are all human & we all bleed red. i 'm not basing this comment as a american or any nationality but as a fellow human being! i have respect & care for others! you boy are the evil in this world!USA + Japan= friendship&peace/YOU=EVIL!

  • @TheSunmanho Pitiful motherfucker. Its in the past. did your grandpa died because of the atomic bomb from US? Deal with it!

  • try the hungarian anthem :P

  • excellently sung

  • Sowelu, born Aki Harada (原田 亜希, Harada Aki), is a J-pop singer.

  • 1:06 is very helpful...if you can read hiragana...

  • Comment removed

  • Banzai means ten thousand years in refrance of life. But it can also be refranced as a last desperate attack. and as for the little tree growing thats called Bonsai =)

  • I've been looking into national anthems throughout the world, and I must say, this is one of the better ones. Beautiful in its simplicity, and that particular performance was chilling in the best sense of the world. I'm an American and I've never been crazy about our ham-fisted national anthem.

  • Yeah, I've listened to about twenty different ones today for a project, and this is one of my favorites. It's simple and doesn't try to be grand, not to mention the lyrics are very pretty. Most national anthems are very robust sounding and try to be impressive, but this one is just beautiful and doesn't puff its chest out.

  • @TulseLuper I'm a Brazillian (not that this is relevant, but we're all saying our nationalities so why not?), and I find the US anthem (as well as the Japanese) very nice sounding. I don't know any others, so I can't comment on them. But I'm sure there are many good sounding too.

  • @TulseLuper what do you think about the hungarian anthem?

  • @TulseLuper wow- than you are a rare person :) arigato gozaimasu

  • @TulseLuper hey try listening to the philippines national anthem, it's great!

  • @TulseLuper I've always loved this anthem, one of my favourites. Agree on the US national anthem, for a country with so much passion, it always seems rather, I don't know, clumsy perhaps? I'm sure you folks in the US could produce an amazing one if you were allowed.

  • @TulseLuper

Each to their own. The Japanese national anthem fits the beautiful simplicity of Japanese culture, and the American "ham-fisted" national anthem fits a nation that has never been embarrassed about it's rah-rah nature. They're all beautiful in their own way, though obviously different people have different views of what makes an anthem "good." Really, if it touches people or even makes them cry, the anthem's done it's job even if it seems over the top.Patriotism is that way anyhow.

  • In Japan, "Banzi" has no actuall meaning. It is used to express things, like; happiness, elatement, excitement, congragulations (like omedeta). It can also be used as a rallying cry, like in times of war.

  • lol...bonzai is a plant...guess banzai means attack too?..but what i know is that banzai is long live...

  • Did i use the words violence? Oh im sorry i ment the Distruction of her enemies which is understandable for a nation to sing about.

  • Very beautiful song...Thanks for posting this :)

  • Youtube the anthem

  • what a beautiful country

  • God Bless Japan

  • The only difference is the lack destruction in this anthem and more about new life.

  • When i searched for this i didnt no waht to expect from this anthem (but il tell you what i got) its deffinatly different from alot of the other ones its different from russias which talks about their people, and from america which talks about its place in the world as the home of the brave and hard workers id say its more similar to the Brit anthem which talks about its leader the Queen and how she should be protected and how her enemies should be scatterd by God ,only difference no destruction

  • Just a question here, what do you mean by "how her enemies should be scatterd by God ,only difference no destruction". I don't know when this happens in "God save the Queen" unless it is in a verse which is not used anymore.

  • Youtube "God Save" the queen

  • See this anthem speaks of its ruler but i may be wrong maybe it speaks of their nation but when im saying is that if this anthem is about its leader than the God Save the Queen anthem and this one is very similar, Just that this one talks about living for very long and ruling well and the "God save the Queen" is about long rull and the scattering of enemies, just pointing out the differences.

  • Yeah, I do agree that the lyrics of other anthems such as the Japanese one are a better reason for patriotism, however, the Brittish nation anthems does not speak of violene agaisnt enemies but only the protection of the Queen (or King depending upon who is in power.

    The lyrics are:

    God save of gracious Queen,

    Long life our noble Queen,

    God save the Queen,

    Send her victorious,

    Happy and glorious,

    Long to reign over us,

    God save the Queen.

  • japanese culture is a high state of civilization: their national anthem couldnt be an exception.

    thank you from Spain.

  • wow its so beautiful, just like japan itself :)

  • its so beautiful!!! GO JAPAN!

  • OWAAAA!!! SUXH AN ANTHEM!! i love it!!!

    so serene!!!

  • I am listening to all the Top 30 counties in the world anthems so far. Japan its just depressing but awesome at the same time.

  • NIHON NO BANZAI!!!!!!

  • Does banza mean best?

  • banzai means long live

  • I don't mean to be offensive, but the anthen sounds kind of depressing. No offense.

  • no offence taken it my seem depressing but for my people its and insperation japan is ow a peceful and kind nation please dont discrase and thank you

  • he he.... basiclly

  • lol the shortest and most peasefullest and kinda sad anthem ever!!!!I LOVE IT

  • it is sad. SAD DAYS FOR JAPAN.

  • what a weird anthem XD, kinda kewl in a way.

  • its the oldest anthem in the world... i think its kind of sad

  • @lifeender i agree w you

  • @lifeender I have heard that Netherlands National anthem Van Wielhelmus should be the oldest national anthem in the world? But I might been wrong... ?? Peace ;)

  • 日本は素晴しい!

  • AwEsOmE!!!!

  • It very beautiful am picking this song for my World Class Project it short and very disdrciptive. It makes me feel all peaceful inside

  • short and sweet. WOW, her voice is ethereal, like enya!

  • Sowelu has such a wonderful voice. I also like how the Japanese don't butcher their national anthem like some of us Americans do.

  • Oh, they do on occasion, it's just that it's in another language so we Americans don't realize they are. Unless we speak Japanese, I guess.

Not sure about it being the most beautiful country in the world after Scotland, though, Aaronselbie. For one thing, Scottland looks an awful lot like Ireland...way too much green. Green green green. Geh.

I dunno, maybe I spend too much time in Ireland. Give me the cities and trees and hills and autumn of New England any day of the year.

  • Benn1to- I accidentally hit Spam when trying to reply, but yeah, I came here from Get Fuzzy, too :)

  • My family is from Scotland.

  • japan is the most beautiful country in the world. after scotland

  • 画像はいいが歌が下手すぎる。

    国歌を侮辱されているような気持ちになる。削除してくれ。

  • its a cool anthem ,,, but my country is the best :P ... Traiasca Poporul Roman ( Long Live Romania ) and Banzai Japan :)))

  • どうせ音声を使うなら松浦あやのは採用するなよ。

  • Nipon to dasisuki!!!! xD

  • Japan!!! :-)

  • That's beautiful. I love America...but Japan seems to be a very good country.
