@MomoTheStrange Animation with actual moving stills was invented in China by Ting Huan (zoetrope)... there would be no anime without him. Besides, in Japan, anything that is animated is considered "anime". They use the term the way we use "cartoon" to refer to anything animated that isn't Japanese, even though it's all the same thing just with different styles of drawing and storytelling. I like anime myself though, and I'm not bashing Japan or trying to make Chine seem "superior".

I believe the animation itself will catch up pretty soon but the Chinese animation industry does need more good writers and storyboard artists. (Not enough I think if they're commitioning to other countries)And more new stories instead of the retelling of classical literature.

China is already catching up pretty fast. Go to my channel and see some of the Chinese animation that are pretty much influenced by Japanese and American animation.

However, quality animation in China is very few compared to Japan and America, they still need improvement on the storyline content and hopefully less restriction from their government in controlling the media.

Japan and American animation will always reign dominant! Though, american animators need to learn some stuff from anime. Conversely, anime artists can learn some stuff from american animators aswell. The style anime carries can just get way too generic while animation in america can get way too LSD-like, get my drift? Kaiba is a good example for change of style, even though the framerate sucks in all its simplicity. It looks like it's for kids, but the story is pretty deep in drama lol.

China makes an animation with a National Policy. That isn't idea as entertainment/artist/creator at all. It's based on Chinese typical idea; "Animation must be making a big PROFIT/MONEY!"

Japanese animator doesn't make an animation to gain money. WE SINCERELY LOVE ANIME and WE DEVOTE OURSELVES TO DO CREATE!!!! It's different essentially. So, invitation often comes from China, but a Japanese animator dislikes going to China. Me too! ... This is an opinion as a Japanese animator.
