you know what I loved about watching this in america? That this came out around the same time as Outlaw star, and watching the two, it was like watching the same universe at two different points in time. Outlaw Star plays very much like the future of the universe that you see in Cowboy Bebop, and seeing both, along with many other anime and manga, made my life worth living. Thanks Toonami. Thanks classic adult swim. My life is forever changed because of you.
Well if you liked the series I'd recommend watching the movie as its very well made. Baccano is a great series and was a lot of fun to watch, the only real problem it has is that it feels a bit too short. Other than that I recommend it highly :D.

I lost contact with an old friend 7 years ago thanks to a controlling and paranoid husband and this song was an anthem for me to find her once again. She divorced him, we hooked up and it ended in disaster.
I keep hearing shit about a live action film. while theres a lot of potential there, look what happened with the Dragon Ballz film and Death Note. They'll totally ruin it, And besides NO ONE could play Spike properly.
one of the most beautiful things about animes is that there are not actors there, yeah everything its drawed but the characters are real for what they are. You're not going to see Spike Spiegel in another anime, he belongs only to Cowboy Bebop.

Just compare ho many movies they made in the 90 from cartoons or games and how many they made after 2000. It would be no big deal if they could NOT FUCK IT UP.
Yes. They should leave Bebop alone. No live action, especially. These characters I think are larger than life; no actors would fit, nowhere near well enough at least.
If you want to make a computer-generated one where the characters look the same as the anime and all the original people involved are working on it, go nuts. But no actors, please. Not for Bebop.
live action film?? NEVER!! you try recreating the once in a lifetime surreal dream again.. thats why there was no sequel no spinoff (not that i know of).. it was just perfect.. one of the few things in my life that was soooo perfect that it can never be made again.. the soundtrack, the voice actors (both jap and eng), story line, characters,, the most comprehensive thing to exist.. people should accept to leave perfection alone..
I always wonder what makes me sadder... Faye recovering her memories but loosing her home, Ed & Ein leaving, or Spike & Jet covering up their feelings on Ed (& possibly Faye's) departure. What's so sweet about Ed is that... well... that's how she is. She comes into life like gangbusters... but then quietly leaves w/o really saying a verbal "good-bye". See ya space cowgirl...
Cowboy Bebop is incredible, and I love the music. "Call me" is sad. :( Just saw that episode tonight. <3 Before when I would watch that ep, I totally thought Ed turned around and went back to the ship. But now watching it again I wasn't sure, then when it says "See you cowgirl, someday, somewhere!" it really sounds like she did leave. Did she? :(
@mrshackztor Yea she leaves, for me that episode was more emotional than the final episode because fay and ed were great characters and it was like the gang was fallling apart
I think Keanu Reeves is the best possible choise for Spike but still he's not good enough, not because he's not great, he is great, its just impossible to find the perfect Spike :/

@CrazyTechnoWolf Shinichiro Watanabe, AKA the CREATOR of Cowboy Bebop, is personally involved with the project as a producer. Hell, most of Sunrise Animation is backing the project.
Why does everyone keep saying Keanu Reeves? lol, that guy'd screw everything up! There must be a better actor that could do it. He's got attitude, style, an in-your-face voice, and awesome hair. All of which Keanu Reeves has none. I'd suggest someone completely new. Great movies don't have to have the big name actors. I say we let someone who isn't known at all just shine, and make a name for themselves. Man, I hope they don't screw it up. This song is wonderful, too. Great post. :)
@DangerAaron21 1) Because Keanu Reeves is personally spending money to fund the movie. Without him, the movie would exist.
2) Keanu Reeves has the personal history to basically be Spike. Abandoned by his father, his mother remarried several times. He went to several schools and has 3 stepfathers. His dream of being a star hockey player ended after an injury. His best friend River Phoenix died. His best friend, his sister, is battling Leukemia.
@DangerAaron21 3) He has been known to take pay cuts for the good of a movie (he gave up 90% of his pay in The Replacements to get Gene Hackman in the film. He gave up $2M of his salary to get Al Pacino in the Devil's Advocate). Who's to say he won't do something similar for this movie?
4) Shinichiro Watanabe is PERSONALLY involved in the project. If he didn't approve of Keanu Reeves, don't you think we would've known by now?
@ruckyred I guess Shinichiro Watanabe should suck Keanu Reeves' dick too, seeing as he approves the selection. But what should the creator of the series say? Of course you, random person on the internet, would know better than THE CREATOR OF THE SERIES.
It doesnt matter if it the movie sucks , or if its popular to People who've never watched it before. Whats important is that all the true fans who will always remember the true CB. What Movie production(excluding few) could never comprehend would be the depth and beauty of what brings people all over the world to love how fucking awesome this anime is. I would pitty them if they couldnt understand the fans. But money is most important to them.
Listening to this song just brings me back, to when I first saw this episode, it was the beginning of the end... it's still a bittersweet feeling... even today...
I'm not one to worry about the movie. Even if it does suck, which I don't think it will, it's got a whole number of big fans (including the director of the cartoon himself) working on it. But even if it does suck, it doesn't mean much.
The thing I'm more worried about is if Bebop the movie becomes popular. The last thing I want for my favorite series is a whole fucking franchise. It ended in the most beautiful way, we don't need to resurrect it and make it into something ugly: pop culture.
Bebop carries all the elements of pop culture; from film noir to spaghetti westerns. Without the Japanese having an intense love for American popular culture, Cowboy Bebop might not exist.
If they remain faithful to the general idea of the series then I think it will be at least bearable to watch.
@InsanityManifest I said in my comment I wasn't worried about it sucking. Just about my most adored franchise becoming too popular. I want it to stay dead dammit!
Everytime I see Keanu Reeves I see Neo from the matrix... for me this movie is going to suck. Shame they couldn't find another actor, one less popular.
I don't need to see the future to see that shit coming at me like a bullet train. Cause Keanu Reeves is such a good actor and all, he'll pull it together.
Keanu reeves is already confirmed with the role he even spoke in public about it apparently they already have a draft of the script but they need a director attached and 500billion$
They could pull this off live action ONLY if they did it in a similar visual style to Sin City. Finding Spike would honestly be the hardest part. It would have to be a Heath Ledger as the joker type deal where it's someone unexpected and amazing.
exactly! ive said that from the start when i heard he was gonna be playing spike. he could turn out amazing if he really put his mind to fit the character but something tells me he's not going to take this role as seriously as i'd like for him to be amazing in it
I agree w/ everything you said. Keanu Reeves probably would'nt know how to do it. If I'm even lightly reminded of Neo, he fails. I'm still gonna give it a chance though.
And just who can play Faye? I'd love to see someone even try to step up to the plate. :-)
a live action movie could be done but it would take everything going right like the right actors and a understanding of cowboy bebop that most just dont understand......and a kamaha could be done right it just takes the right visualist to do it thats all but ya that goku guy did look gay dbz should just be done only in anime or comp like ff 7 advent children
true but dbz in cgi like ff7 would be wierd. they tried live action dbz in japan like over 10 years ago and they bombed cant comprehend why they would try again here
Bebop, its gonna be a D rated movie. The last time they tried to bring back DBZ in live action, they made Goku look horrible!! Even in his super sayian mode! Why can't they just leave the great series alone?!!
love this song. absolutely love the anime series. after i finished watching the series for the first time... i felt like my friends had moved away. within the first few episodes, i missed them when i wasn't watching them. i cried a few times in this series. so good. so very good. i laughed i cried, i had a good time. ~thumbs up all 'round!~

But money is most important to them.

i agree, there isnt any good actors or actresses at this moment to pull off these characters.

IndianaDylan 1 year ago 4
@IndianaDylan
Bebop carries all the elements of pop culture; from film noir to spaghetti westerns. Without the Japanese having an intense love for American popular culture, Cowboy Bebop might not exist.
If they remain faithful to the general idea of the series then I think it will be at least bearable to watch.
InsanityManifest 1 year ago
@InsanityManifest I said in my comment I wasn't worried about it sucking. Just about my most adored franchise becoming too popular. I want it to stay dead dammit!
IndianaDylan 1 year ago
@IndianaDylan lol, that's a bit selfish, not wanting it to get popular :P But I get why you don't want it to.

Why didn't they choose Josh Hartnett for Spike??

that would be even worse

Everytime I see Keanu Reeves I see Neo from the matrix... for me this movie is going to suck. Shame they couldn't find another actor, one less popular.

@xsasukex "for me this movie is going to suck" <-- man you should predict weather, you got some serious psychic abilities

IT would not have to be high budget
if the dialogue , acting , and action were raw and clever it would be good.
also, the costumes would have to look like real clothes, and not just try to be like the show.
Also, it wouldn't need a lot of space shots.
If the whole thing took place without them ever in space it would be fine with me

exactly! could'nt agree more.
rafastarporco 2 years ago
for the live action movie to work it,at least, needs to have and fit the same music from the anime.

Live action movie's gonna suck.
I don't need to see the future to see that shit coming at me like a bullet train. Cause Keanu Reeves is such a good actor and all, he'll pull it together.
CadaverJunky8 2 years ago
Keanu reeves is already confirmed with the role he even spoke in public about it apparently they already have a draft of the script but they need a director attached and 500billion$

I LOVE THIS SONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!XD
ladyblue713 2 years ago
They could pull this off live action ONLY if they did it in a similar visual style to Sin City. Finding Spike would honestly be the hardest part. It would have to be a Heath Ledger as the joker type deal where it's someone unexpected and amazing.
isuckatlyfe 2 years ago
exactly! ive said that from the start when i heard he was gonna be playing spike. he could turn out amazing if he really put his mind to fit the character but something tells me he's not going to take this role as seriously as i'd like for him to be amazing in it
youngsweetgeesus 2 years ago
ruckryred,
I agree w/ everything you said. Keanu Reeves probably would'nt know how to do it. If I'm even lightly reminded of Neo, he fails. I'm still gonna give it a chance though.
And just who can play Faye? I'd love to see someone even try to step up to the plate. :-)

a live action movie could be done but it would take everything going right like the right actors and a understanding of cowboy bebop that most just dont understand......and a kamaha could be done right it just takes the right visualist to do it thats all but ya that goku guy did look gay dbz should just be done only in anime or comp like ff 7 advent children
choas97 2 years ago
true but dbz in cgi like ff7 would be wierd. they tried live action dbz in japan like over 10 years ago and they bombed cant comprehend why they would try again here

If they are making a live action movie of Cowboy
Bebop, its gonna be a D rated movie. The last time they tried to bring back DBZ in live action, they made Goku look horrible!! Even in his super sayian mode! Why can't they just leave the great series alone?!!

@taria4eva Very late, but Goku never went SSJ in DBE...

Definitely the best vid, of this that I've found song of the film. A unique song, it seems. So inspired, and such clever imaginative lyrics.

Anyways great job for this, it's my favorite song and the scene that this takes place in the show is so sad.
