In my opinion, Maleficent doesn't even exist compared to the Queen. The Queen actually has a motive: to be the most beautiful person in all the land. That's pretty lofty when you delve deeper into it. Maleficent does what she does simply because she's evil. Let's face it: you can't get more bland and boring than that. Not to mention that the Queen is way, way scarier.

By not inviting Maleficent he, in so many words, called her the lowliest, undesired and most loathsome creature of all. Snow white is portrayed as beautiful and unmatched across the lands, yet she's flat chested and obviously prepubescent. Also the Queen is in all of like 5 minutes of the movie, maleficent has about 30mins.

It has been years since I last watched Snow White, but after watching this, The Queen is by far the most disturbing villain in the Disney canon, IMO. However, she is gullible in the fact that her incredible purity causes her to be naive.
Wow! The only Disney villain that was intelligent enough to look up the solution to the conflict she is ready to cause (poisoning Snow White), then try to dispose of the solution (Love's First Kiss), while carrying out her plan. She's one of my favorite villains, other than Ursula, Maleficent, Jafar, Hades, and Yzma. (I don't really call the Queen of Hearts and Lady Tremaine villains, as in my opinion, the QoH just has a foul temper, while LT is just mean to only Cinderella, but not to others).
i love the part when the wicked queen said, "Thirsty? heh heh heh...Have a DRINK!!!!!" when i first saw it i was like "AWW!! THATS MEAN!!!" and then me and my sister was saying it all night cuz it was kinda funny the way she said it.
grimm brothers tale had the queen first give snow white a poisoned comb for her hair, when it pearced her skin it would poison her, then a corset to crush the air out of her, then the apple of poison. Finally at the end... she was forced to wear red hot slippers and dance till she dropped dead at snow whites wedding. Grimm bros were always ....well.....very grim.

@Caradog93 for me is their thin arched angular eyebrows, and big eyes! they all have those characteristics. Maleficent and the Evil Queen are very simliar, in style, except the Queen is more rounded and Maleficent is more triangular.
One thing I never really got - if the queen had the magic at her disposal to make herself fugly, why didn't she use it to make herself more beautiful? Woulda saved her a lot of trouble, but that's villains for ya, they just don't think things through!
@MissPsychoB It is simple, vanity. If someone beat her at something (beauty) then she would be a poor sport about it and claim vengance. As well the potion would not help as it wouldn't likely be permanent so she wouldn't truely be the fairest in the land.
Old Disney dialogues are so poetic and beautiful, compare to the semi-modern/modern dialogues of more recent movies I favor the old. (not suggesting the new ones lack great lines, just prefer the old, theatric feeling of the old cartoons).
i used to be so frightened of this witch in my childhood that I couldnt watch it. I had nightmares of this for months and months. Im still frightened.
It makes me think of drugs, alcohol and all the evils in the world when I look at this witch

I liked her, though she was very strange and creepy, (why didn't she just shoot Snow White with magic ?) I was always sad that she died as old, ugly witch.

@bh5496 It's because Snow White is so innocent and pure, the traits which truly make her so beautiful, in my opinion. That's why she let the - fairly convincing for the *make-believe* universe Snow White and the dwarves live in - "old woman" into the house. Her heart is so full of compassion and mercy that she can't resist helping someone who seems to be in need. It's called not judging a book by its cover. However, she is gullible in the fact that her incredible purity causes her to be naive.

Wow! The only Disney villain that was intelligent enough to look up the solution to the conflict she is ready to cause (poisoning Snow White), then try to dispose of the solution (Love's First Kiss), while carrying out her plan. She's one of my favorite villains, other than Ursula, Maleficent, Jafar, Hades, and Yzma. (I don't really call the Queen of Hearts and Lady Tremaine villains, as in my opinion, the QoH just has a foul temper, while LT is just mean to only Cinderella, but not to others).

I couldn't help but notice the other day that many things in this film are so much like things in the Wizard of Oz.
1. The begining before the movie actually starts when it fades to black has the same kind of music as the intro to Wizard of Oz.
2. When the queen transforms it has the same music and spins like Dorthy does in the tornado.
3rd and final. When the queen falls and dies she has the same scream as the wicked witch from OZ.

grimm brothers tale had the queen first give snow white a poisoned comb for her hair, when it pearced her skin it would poison her, then a corset to crush the air out of her, then the apple of poison. Finally at the end... she was forced to wear red hot slippers and dance till she dropped dead at snow whites wedding. Grimm bros were always ....well.....very grim.

I only saw this film once as a kid, and one of the things that I remember the most clearly was the Queen's transformation creeping me out.
Interesting thing is that the Queen was the only Disney villain to appear in Kingdom Hearts that you never fight, or even has an onscreen death.

@Caradog93 for me is their thin arched angular eyebrows, and big eyes! they all have those characteristics. Maleficent and the Evil Queen are very simliar, in style, except the Queen is more rounded and Maleficent is more triangular.

Old Disney dialogues are so poetic and beautiful, compare to the semi-modern/modern dialogues of more recent movies I favor the old. (not suggesting the new ones lack great lines, just prefer the old, theatric feeling of the old cartoons).
