Nice vid, the one I made is similar. I added some tape around the U bolts to keep the action from getting scratched; also made some wood blocks to fit over the clamp and the end cap, for more positive contact. Some springs come out bent.
Just bought one of these Phantoms today. To "upgrade" the performance, my understanding is to buy one of the repair kits from Eric. To install his kit, will I need to compress and decompress springs?
@jgoodz420 What a great way you have of responding to your viewers questions. If i'd known you were going to get your illiterate 12 year old son to respond your replies I wouldn't have bothered watching the video in the first place. banned, blocked and reported.
what about this idea? put the spring in,place the gun chamber vertically on the floor with spring touching, then get someone to sit on the top via a board.the weight should push the spring in.
Nice Video... I have a Gamo hunter 440 and although I haven't disassembled the gun yet, but it looks a lot like the gun you have been working on. Does your gun have the same inner-workings as my Hunter 440? I want to disassemble it to check everything including the seal. Where would you get a seal if you needed one? Thanks for any help you can give me!
Great video. I just built a mainspring compressor myself, using your video as a reference. I really appreciate you taking the time to do this, probably the easiest instructions I've seen on building this piece of equipment. Great for this of us who are new to tuning airguns. Btw I have 2 stoeger x10's, which are B19 variants as well. So this compressor was perfect for me, dimensions- wise. Thanks, buddy!!
Hey guys, I have a quesion. I currently have a b4 underlever air rifle. it's around 10 ft pounds atm and I want to get it to 12 ft pounds. (legal limit) can I use any springs from the selection on the internet or are they different sizes for .22? thanks, any feedback is appreciated (appart from troll replies lol)
Mine is basically the same but shorter, meant to be used with the barrel removed. Since removing the barrel is only a matter of the one pivot bolt, it's worth the time. Then, I can clean and lube the pivot area upon reassembly. Good vid.
A Phantom spring (unless you are an idiot) will not cause enough deflection to bend your barrel. I have tuned at least 15 of these guns and never bent a barrel yet. If you bend barrel in a spring compressor you should be looking at your own flawed techniques, as many people use them and not many bend their barrels...maybe your special lol
Rule of thumb for air rifle springs is for every compressed inch is 40 pounds of force, so easily 80 pounds on the barrel, tell that to the warranty! Better you than me, I am too special to go that route. Give you credit for the video, but setup is fail!
Really? your serious? 35lbs is applied horizontally to the barrel every-time you cock the gun, and you think the force of reinstalling the spring will bend the barrel? You obviously know nothing about this, the spring is barely even compressed when you are reinstalling it, the actual compression takes place only when the gun is cocked. The compressor compresses it enough so that everything fits back into the compression chamber, stop trying to act like you know, you obviously don't
Hey mate, great job on the video. I have a Diana 22 and I disassembled it, which was a dumb ass move... Now I need to push it back in, and it seems that I need to push the spring in past the trigger, then insert and fix the trigger, then let go and let the spring LIE on the trigger while I add the second pin and the end cap.
I hope you can help me out soon, I'd like to get this done soon.
I have done the job with out the proper kit before and I do not advice that to anyone. It was my first time and i did not expect the spring to be under any presure with the gun not being cocked, but you live and learn.
Now I will be able to do the job happley knowing the spring is not going to come flying out.
Hey great videos with the airguns good shit. Making a spring compressor one question should the plastic peice at the end of the chamber (the peice that makes everything flush when on the stock) slide off?? Having some trouble gettin it out by the way its a .177 gamo.
Yeah it takes a little time and effort, but once you have one, you cant imagine not having one LOL
Its just so much safer, its not even worth it to not use one.......Its also seriously about 100X easier to do using a spring compressor, I can take apart, change the piston seal and put back together a phantom in 10-11mins LOL
This is for maintenance on a spring piston air rifle, so you can safely remove the internals without having the spring tension cause you harm, cheers....
heya, im planning to make a small rifle using a crutch (jackal style! cos its compact, light and hollow, so i can make a bullpup type design) and am debating whether to use spring power or air power... what do you reckon would be most portable and easier to use?
There is nothing illegal about this. This for maintenance purposes, always follow your local laws and regulations..........apparently your uncle didnt.......

the spring need to be pulled back in place to shot again. if you run on gas the system is much more faster and clean.
