I honestly can't stand this. A stafford is the most beautiful, loyal, friendly breed ever. They are fantastic with kids. Stop putting them in the same bracket as pitbulls they are two entirely different breeds. No more breed bans. Set in place a dog licence or compulsary classes to learn more about your chosen breed, at a cost to dog owner this will hopefully eliminate all of the trash buying dogs for status symbols. Horrendous....I have a staffy which is apparently a "status" dog, which is adorable, great with humans and dogs alike, I can only imagine the treatment those dogs suffer to make them aggressive like this. Those little shits in the park kicking their dogs need some of the same treatment in return.  I hope any legislation doesnt end up penalising those of us that love our staffs and are responsible, caring dog owners.

I've owned a pit bull and currently have an Amstaff. My friend has a pit bull. It's in their blood to be dog aggressive.

I'm not trying to be gangsta, although I do like Hip Hop and gangsta rap. I think what first drew me to these dogs was their muscularity. Ever since I was a young boy, I wanted a staffy.

I've got a Masters Degree from Uni. I'm not a criminal. I work 2 jobs.

Anyone who fights their dogs should be given the same punishment. I've been bitten by a pittie and it hurts. A lot.

The American Pitbull Terrier can have a hightened aggression towards other dogs but thats the same as most other breeds if not socialized properly from a young age.

Also people need to realize that there are alot of hard working people like yourself who are not crimals that own these types of dogs.

Yeah, I guess you're right. I believe my pittie was dog aggressive because from 12 weeks old he was raised around a food aggressive mini poodle and also an aggressive mini fox terrier. Seriously. He was constantly bullied and attacked over food by these two dogs until he got big enough to defend himself. I guess he just learned that fighting for what he wants is the way to solve problems.

I hope that the UK reverses its legislation that bans "Pit Bull type" dogs - It is the responsibility of humans to ensure that dogs are raised right. All breed-bans do is prevent good dog owners from rescuing Pit Bulls, because people who mistreat and abuse the dogs and use them for fighting will own them regardless of the law. Pit Bulls have been renowned through the history of the breed for being gentle, loyal, and loving pets - and it is this loyalty that dogfighters and gang members abuse.
