Jacke! Jacke! Jacke! I loved this Cardinal team. I've been a diehard fan since the 1998 season. The best moment was in the following week when they upset the Cowboys.
@69elpato6969 yea.... i was 10 years old when my dad took me that game...I'm 25 now..i can't believe it!!!....we watched the fans take down the goal post. awesome memory will never forget
not a Cardinals fan, but I remember this moment and after seeing them celebrate I was so happy for them; I vaguely remember cornerback Aeneas Williams crying in the locker room after the game
I WAS in the game too. A magical game, a wonderful game. A great memory of my teenage years, I was 17 years old and me and my family went to phoenix to see this game from Hermosillo, Mx. Nice Vid, thanks wa52lz .
That makes me feel like a kid all over again! One of the greatest moments in Arizona Cardinal history! Too bad the Bidwell's released Jamir Miller, Lomas Brown, and Larry Centers, the greatest receiving back in NFL history, after the season... Those decisions sent us to the bottom of the NFL food chain for a decade...
i never seen a nfl team rush the field but come on it my arizona cardinals.. i always been a fan of the cards i even got 2 tattoos of the new and the old arizona cardinals bird...
This is the last time I remember the crowd at an NFL game rushing the field. I was so happy for the Cardinals and their fans that day.
Even though I'm a Packers fan (and the Cardinals beat Green Bay in the playoffs this year), I've always had a soft spot in my heart for the Arizona Cardinals.
As a long time Cardinals fan, this is a beautiful sight. I was there. The only game I've been to in Arizona. Seen plenty of Cards games on the East coast but this is the first one I was at in Arizona. I'm hoping to make it next season when the Eagles come to AZ.
Great game to be at! Cards fans were as crazy jubilant as I'd ever seen. I especially remember something said by either Lomas Brown or Simeon Rice about Chris Jacke, "This guy scares the hell out of me. He misses the ones he should make and makes the ones that matter most." Not a great season by most people's standards, but it broke new ground for the Cards, thank God.
excellent upload man thx!! cards been my team always even at sds burning up in 120 degree weather! nobody was there, now its sold out with bandwagoners now, thts why i dont go anymore, i hate bandwagoners!! go cards, get ur minds rite!
wow i miss those days, although i'm an Eagles fan and didnt see much playoff action from the birds throughout the mid-late 90s i still enjoyed the magic of the playoffs. I think football was bettre just back then. I miss the old CBS theme and i think the new cardinals jerseys r crap.
why when Cards get in the playoffs its always magical? a lot better than when other teams get into the playoff? I would rather wait 10 years to wait for Kurt and Larry and the rest of this amzing team too get in the playoffs than any other team? All the other teams are just plain boreing!
These were my Cardinals. This team made me proud. One of the three best moments in Cards history for me, the other two being the playoff win in Dallas the next week and Nate Poole's catch against Minnesota.
I was 8 when i saw this on tv and i cried, cried with tears of joy. I was 8 but I still knew about the cards awful history as a franchise so I knew this game was special. and who says the cardinals have a shitty fan base? who says cardinals fans aren't passionate about their team? I've never seen cowboy or steeler or giants fans or fans of any other pro football team rush the field after their team wins a big game!
Thanks for the post!!! I'm 27 and watching this brought tears!! I sat in Sec 11 and ran on the field!! We should've thrown the goalpost over the Mill Ave. bridge like we did against the Cowgirls!! How many people remember that?!?!
i was at this game. One of the best moments of my childhood. My dad has had season tickets since 93 when i was 5 and ivwe been to 7 home games a year ever since, Anyway it was awesoem to see the fans rush the field and tear down the goal posts afterwards
OMG i remember watching this game live back in 98.. i wanted the chargers to win so the bucs to get in the playoffs.... to bad, it sucked to see them do well, because the bucs were on a late season roll and wouldve made the championship game...
do you have the last 5 minutes or so of this game.. the play by play of don criqui was excellent.. and yes it does suck that he and enberg are covering shitty teams when they should still be doin playoff games instead of nantz and gumbel
It's too bad that Don Criqui has been relegated to bottom of the barrel games while Jim Nantz and his awful football play-by-play gets lead coverage. Same for Gus Johnson. If ANYONE should be doing the lead game, it should be Dick Enberg...I can't think of many AFC games that were classics without his signature "OH MYYYYYYYY!"
That was a magical moment. I don't think people who are used to having a winning team understand what kind of moment it is when a perennial loser finally wins something significant.
This moment was topped last season, finally, and several times at that. Now the Detroit Lions are officially the worst team in football.
Eric Metcalf is so underrated. He never gets the recognition he deserves. I would vote him into the Hall of Fame if I had a vote. I also like Don Criqui.
Don Criqui is a great NFL broadcaster. Now, he does the lower tiered AFC Games which is kind of a shame. I remember he and Steve Buerlein called the Cardinals and Patriots game back in 2004, the game which the Cardinals retired Pat Tillman's #40.
Why doesnt anyone ever recognize what Plummer did for us in Arizona with the Sun Devils and the Cardinals? True Cardinal fans remember the days before Warner. I really hope we beat the Steelers. We are one more game away from doing the damb thing! Go Cardinals!!!!!
I always tell my son about this day! I was 17 years old at that game! I was one of the first ones to rush the field! It seems just like yesterday. I was kind of dissapointed nobody rushed the field when we made the Super Bowl against the eagles. I think it was impossible though, there was a couple of rows of cops blocking the field. Go Cardinals!!!!
If you "True" Cardinals fans think this was Exciting, Just wait 'til you get introduced as the NFC Champions right before the Super Bowl!! Being a Loyal Seahawks fan, i know all about having a magical year out of nowhere, and then reaching the "Big Game"!! America Has said all year that the NFC West was a joke....Well we got the NFC Champions, and possibly the Super Bowl Champs...So Keep Laughing America!! I just hope you don't get "Screwed Over" by the Refs like Seattle did 3 years ago! Go AZ!
Man...i was 12. I grew up in a family of raiders and cowboy fans...my pops is a vikings fan...I'm probably the only Cards fan in my family. BUT...we went to as many cards games as possible. We'd hit up scalpers for 10 dollar tix! Hot ass metal bleachers... We've come a long way from spots of red in the stands.
wow.... this was one of the luckiest seasons ever. I really thought we were building something here with a young team headed by Jake Plummer. Things turned sour quickly, it was a shame, especially the following year.
I was 13, I still have the chunck of the North End Zone goal line grass in my garage. Thank you to all the LOYAL 25K fans who would sit on the bleachers in September in Sun Devil Stadium....
This game drew 71,670, the largest crowd at Sun Devil Stadium that the Cardinals had which was not againt the Dallas Cowboys. When the Cowboys made a annual trip to Arizona, crowds of 70,000+ would be there, mostly Cowboys fans.
Sun Devil Stadium wasn't too bad in December when that game was played, Sep and parts of Oct were terrible... plus we were never on national tv so all the games were in the afternoon back then. But now?!?!?!?!?
I'll never forget this moment. I remembered when they converted the 4th and 20 to score, I seriously thought there was something that was preventing us from making the playoffs. I was really excited, but beating Dallas AT Dallas 20-7 is my most favorite moment as a Cardinals fan, though I'm hoping this year's team will make more moments.
The Chargers tied it on a touchdown pass on 4th and 20 with 16 seconds left. Every win that season seemed to come down to the final minute.
I remember watching this game. It was one of the few times a home game at Sun Devil Stadium wasn't blacked out in Arizona. Kwamie Lassiter had 4 interceptions yet San Diego still managed to tie the game late.
You can see Pat Tillman #40 for split second at 4:05-4:06.
