These poor bastards are brain washed by predators. You see it at the end of the video... the new recruits have 1 thing in common, they all have lost a family member due to the Iran-Iraq war. It is really easy to sway their minds as they are searching for a solution to tame their fears and soothe their sorrows.
I wouldn't be suprised if the other recruits at other gatherings are dirt poor or social deviants.

These guys/girls are looking for a identity, a brotherhood, and some are looking for respect from their peers. I bet some of these kids are teased at school or worse. What better outlet then to join the Basij, rapidly propelling them into a position of power

It is a fact (look it up) that you cannot bring a civil suit against a Basiji for their group related actions. So basically they can attack you with impunity... Police refrain from engaging Basiji..
You cannot bring these Basiji kids out of their collective mental fog, just as you couldn't do it with a kid that is part of some sort evangelical missionary group. They all suffer from the same mental disease and gullibility. Believing everything their teachers tell them.

That was an excellent video. I t is amazing how they have the same ideals as other ppl in the world, but for some reason their ideals do not represent their actions.
