Because it is a French film. The director is Pierre Morel. Luc Besson is the producer and screenwriter of this movie. The production company is EuropaCorp. But the film was mainly shot with English-speaking actors (it was easier to use English directly). This film was released on 27 February 2008 in France and on 30 January 2009 in North America.

hmm just watched it...didnt realize it wasnt out yet o.O

idk...it was pretty good in terms of intensity and action, as well as emotionally charged, but it kind of seemed ridiculous to me how he single handedly went to Paris and took on so many guys by himself. And ended up relatively unharmed.

Also surprised at how ruthless he was, totally contrasting to his character portrayed initially.

This film was a xenophobic revenge fantasy. Terrible script, bad acting, full of negative ethnical stereotyping and so badly produced it's a miracle to me that Neeson allowed them to show it at all. Ignorant, paranoid americans love it though. Besson sold out....

It was a powerfull film that showed how far a parent would go for their child and how dangerious the world is. The film has a powerful message (which most action films don't have or don't tell very well). I think everyone should see this movie just to show the dangers of the world and what humans can do and will do to each other.

Ok, i'm a massive movie fan, and I think a lot of people would agree that the best movies are the ones that provoke emotional response rather than the modern CGI shit that we get these days. The godfather for example, a timeless film. Now, im not saying that Taken was anything like the Godfather, but I think we should feel glad that good, emotional films are still coming out that don't need countless effects. So Jodecy... in your language that translates "fuckin fuckin fuckin great movie"!

A very serious plot behind the knidnapping of his daugther. The story catches you from minute one and won't set you free even after you leave the theater ( otherwise i won't be writing this comment ). Even `til the last second of the movie you're affraid that something else will happen to Neesom. It was awesome ! I ran to my home in order to see the US critics revies and it wasn't until then that i realized that this movie won't be released in the US until February 23rd. Don't miss it!

Waoo! I live in latin America and just got back from seeing this movie...What a classy action-thriller. It's the best one I've seen in a long time. Liam Neesom is awesome as a retired spy who could give lessons to James Bond.
