This album was ahead of its time. I was one of the locals that dissed it, because with Count being the first out of Nashville, he should have rep harder than this. But, as I got older, I realized what he was on. Now I love the CD. This track has the local great Mark Nash on guitar. One of the coldest black guitar players in Cashville.
if anybody does not realize the hook then let me help you. what was saidin the hook was in the song "love me or leave me alone" by brand nubian just to put it out there
I can't think of anyone who made music like this back then even. No sampled instruments in whole album afaik, that was as rare then as it is now. Pre-Life Crisis is an unbelievably good album (as is Art for Sale), I only wish he'd go back to this style once in a while today.
@disiskurt I agree completely it was and still is a rarity in hip-hop. But my comment wasn't so much about his use of live instruments as it was artistic integrity. With so many 'artist' selling out it's always refreshing to hear something different. Clutchy Hopkins is guy you should check if you haven't already. He doesn't use any samples.
