i was at ally pally on the 9th

was looking forward to arctic monkeys - theyre my favourite band - but thought the support looked good too

now, im almost ashamed to say i was an arctic monkeys fan at that gig. the horrors are different but theyre still great and playing live they put on a great show. i was appalled at the way people treated them.

...plus theyve just recently released my favourite album of 2009 so far!

Well the lads told me that the people actually asked for their phones back. Itz not the first time this has happened to them. When they went to Philadelphia they got glass beer bottles thrown and Faris cut his palm open when he was getting up. Shame that there's people out there that do that.

The thing with the horrors is that they exist in a time where style reigns over substance, there are very few new bands that have any meritocracy. I actually quite like the horrors, however supporting a mainstream band like the arctic monkeys was always going to invoke anger in listeners of that type of generic boring indie rock. The Horrors are a serious band who devote a lot of time to their sound, and are actually in some ways quite innovative. Tell me something innovative about AM et al.

The horrors are one of the arctic monkeys favourite bands, as they've said quite a few times in interviews... and if you listen to the arctics new album, you can definitely hear their similar influences on tracks like teddy picker. :]
