@ondamountain You are going to want to treat each voice coil as a SVC, setting each subwoofer to an impedance of 4 ohms. Doing this will mean you now have 2 Single 4 ohm subs, at this point you wire the subs in parallel for a final impedance of 2 ohms. This will let you utilize the 800 watts from the amp to power up the subs that will require 700 watts total.
@SonicElectronixTV Thank you so much for that information. I am new to the subwoofer world so all the info i get helps alot. i have one more question though, how would i go about wiring them in parallell, im not quite sure what this means, Thanks
@ondamountain Positive of one sub to the positive of the other subs, negative of one sub to the negative of the other sub. Then go from just one sub to the amplifier. This means going from positive of selected sub to amp and negative of selected sub to amp. Also you can go to our website and under our Knowledge Base we will have a link to subwoofer diagrams.
@belexxes I would not recommend doing this. The Kappas can take a beating but you might be over powering them by more than necessary. I would say go with the Kicker ZX750.1 or the JL Audio HD750/1. You can even go with the Rockford Fosgate P700-1BD. If you already have the Alpine amp I would say just be careful and don't turn your gain to high.
@SonicElectronixTV I got two of these, and i got a 2000 watt hifonics mono amp but it only puts out 1300 watts at 2 ohms. It seems like it would be overpowering but the peak is 2800 watts total but i figured it would be in the middle then so it wouldnt be too overpowering, im somewhat knew to all this stuff. Also at 4 ohms the amp puts out 650 watts and i figured if it was too much i could just set it at 4 ohms on the sub and get 650 watts. Any tips or advice? Im installing my own system as well
@Iamthemink Please keep in mind that you want to only pay attention to the RMS power ratings. These subwoofers are 350 Watts RMS each for a total of 700 Watts RMS. You are without a doubt over powering the subwoofers. You want to make sure that you adjust your gain accordingly to accomodate for the excess wattage.
@DorckWoW The Kappa One is a great matchup along with two of the Infinity Kappa subwoofers as InfinityZane pointed out. The JBL GTO7001 is also a perfect matchup to consider, it pushes slightly less power and matches up with their RMS power handling a little bit better. Both amps will work fine.
recently i ordered a pair of infinity 1260s and i got this strips of what seems to be sticky styrofoam and i have no idea what they are for can you please inform me? but to finish my comment ive had infinity subwoofers before (2 10s) and they are freakin amazin ha thats why i ordered more and i shall deff be orderin other infinity products in the future
@Robertjustin1 Those straps you're referencing are for creating an airtight seal between the subwoofer and the enclosure. Since the subwoofer isn't already built with that material it's provided separately. This is important in achieving the best sound quality and pressure from the subwoofers. Glad you're liking the Infinity subwoofers!
Does anyone know the air volume displaced by this speaker? I know with the design of this sub it is very forgiving, but how are you supposed to design a box without knowing how much air the sub will displace?
LOL, those "3 integrated" voice coils would increase the moving mass, why would you do that? And how ary you selecting between those voice coils if there are only 2 tinsel leads going to the cone? Somebody is full of sh*t:)
As with all CEA testing, we think it is great. It ensures that the consumer is getting exactly what they are paying for. However, there are companies that aren't specifically CEA tested and still exceed the standards. Overall, if it has that CEA logo, then we can trust that the specs are true to the advertising.
I agree. It was interesting for you to state that some companies exceed the standards when they haven't been tested by said standard. If you rely soley on the manufacturer to do the testing and set the ratings, then it makes it hard for Joe consumer to know who to trust. What to do?
hey thats crazy...2 and 4 ohm...usually with dual voice coil its either 1 or 4 ohm from dual 2's OR 2 or 8 ohms from dual 4's...im not sure how inifinity are getting 2 or 4 ohms from a single sub??
because it is a tri voice coil sub ! more v.c.'s = more options ! i have a old infinity perfect black 10'' sub ! hits hard for an old sub ! and sounds clean and clear .
wtf you call that a large magnet
