  • amazing simply amazing

  • 5 people doesn't have ghost inside their shells...

  • i love Kenji Kawai. But at the beginning of the video i was like.... Ok, just shut up and play the song.

  • God i wish i was there. sounds better than listening to it in the movie.

  • Glorious

  • I love this. But it really sucks that they had to cut it up the way they did.

  • why is he wearing kabuki make up? does he want to be seen as a ghost, an albino or a white person?

  • That percussionist...was INSANE...THUMBS WAY UP. THANKS FOR UPLOADING! :D

  • breathtaking !

  • I know this song very very very very veryveryveryveryvery well.

    Nice to "see it"

  • Perfect.

  • Please could someone tell me what sort of chorus is that? I tried to research traditional japanese choruses but I've yet to find a style that sounds at least similar. It's simply exquisite, I want more, GITS Innocence OST doesn't satisfy me anymore.

  • @Wychuchol777 : it's because it's a Shinto prayer, not an usual choir.

  • Is this from a DVD? PLEASE I MUUUUUUUUSTTTT HAAAAAAVE IT!!!!!!

  • wow!!

  • God, I love this and I'm so happy I found it. Thanks so much for posting...

  • oh wow....never expected to see to see a live version of this, amazing....

  • wow, so beautiful

  • I wish i were there :(

  • i remember my first try for watching gits, actually i couldn't! because the music took me away from the beginning. i closed my eyes and couldnt open until it stoped. and that was the first time i was being caught by a composer from a movie! he's... i can't describe.. he's traditional and modern too

  • was that not AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Genious

  • voice fake?

  • @heymonoraro They are real. Watch the other videos with them, particularly Reincarnation - if you have any doubts in there, that solo will confirm that they are actually this hardcore perfect.

  • @heymonoraro: if you have vocal teachers in your school, make s/he watch this and you will find the answer as soon as s/he listen to just 2 seconds when the vocalists start singing ;) Your vocal teachers could spend couple hours to surf the net looking for the composer after that too, I promise. Of course if your teachers are passionate.

  • WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONDERFULLL

  • Wow!

  • hell yeah

  • i just jizzed

  • perfect !!!!!

  • Impressive... is it really live?! The vocals seem too identical to the original!

  • @ZioZambe I feel the drum parts were far powerful than soundtrack, though.

  • @mtokiwa : the instruments are real (and sometimes slightly out of tempo), my only doubt is about the vocals

  • @ZioZambe: look for the Reincarnation, the solo part will convince you their vocals are real ;)

  • @ZioZambe

genuine, authentic min'yo singers are like...hardcore pros. i could understand your suspicious because it's like...TOO perfect...but i'm thinking that's just how good and well trained they are.

    the vocals are forever stunning.

  • @ZioZambe Everything is real. :P It's different to the studio recorded version. Watch the video of Reincarnation, it's incredible. There is a singing solo in there that's just... impossibly perfect. And completely different to the soundtrack version.

  • grandissimo

  • clearly Kawai is better than Kanno Yoko but........he isnt evaluated for his hairstyle..damn

  • @tankobokiboji166 Dude, I'd let him do anything with his hair if it helped him come up with genius music like this. :D And even if it didn't. Surely he's earned it. :P

  • dat haricut

  • no words

they sound like a world condemmned

    brutal and sad

  • Listening to this live version = perpetual goosebumps.

  • His hair is unique.

  • Wow ! amazing music

i recomand to all a good subwoofer system The Bass are so deep ! :)

  • @tyfer38 I've got high quality bass-enhancing headphones. Is that good enough?

  • just nostalgia....

  • Is the singing really live?

  • @InfestedJM 100% live record, it's a traditional vocal technique that requires a very particular training. I don't know the name of the technique though

  • @Ieglenguyen Wow amazing! Do you know whats the name of the choir is?

  • @InfestedJM Ah - yes, it is written in the credits at the end of the DVD, it is the Minyo Chorus (check Hyakkin Reprise for complete list of the performers). And I had the confirmation that the vocal technique is Enka. I am not very knowledgeable in traditional Japanese music, so I didn't dare say something wrong ;)

  • @Ieglenguyen

In my land it is called Sean Nós.

  • 4 people are nobuo uematsu, shiro sagisu, akira yamaoka and koji kondo. i guess they are jelaous.

  • So many people arguing just stut up and enjoy the music, all cultures and all peoples have and will continue to produce beautiful music.

  • Geniale Musik !!

  • SBS TV here in Australia just played original Japan version of 'Ghost in the Shell' and this music by Kenji Kawai was so beautiful it made me cry!

  • The choir here is absolutely amazing. Nothing like it in the west. I want to give a standing ovation and I'm by myself in my room. Incredible voices!!!

  • sublime & heavenly.

  • This sounds pretty much like *Bulgarian* folk music :P

  • Comment removed

  • Kenji Kawai is nothing but a pure musical genious.

  • I got chills down my spine. In a good way. This music is so haunting.

  • fxcking dancer! my friend Mark told me the first time he began to understand how important this film was to him that he no longer wanted to battle any longer-he was content! and therefore this song to me is a battle song!

  • Whoa whoa people - I really REALLY don't think this is supposed to be a 'heavenly' or 'godly' song - especially combined with its scene in 'Innocence', this is supposed to be a morbidly dark and abyssal, almost demonic song. There's no way the notes of that harmony could be interpreted as happy. Why does eveyone keep saying this is 'happy' song?

  • @s117godd I personally think alot of people mean the performance is 'godly'. I also agree. The lyrics etc. may not be as 'happy' as people think, but the performance is, no matter how dark and morbid, something to behold.

  • Gänseheut!!!! is das geil eh

  • EPIC BEYOND WORDS..IT'S LIKE THE VOICES FROM HEAVEN.

  • Los pelos de punta amigos!! =O

  • I don't think epic is a big enough word for this..this... GIFT FROM GOD!

  • 4 people missclicked lol

  • @dagadbm Maybe those 4 don't even know what Ghost in the Shell is, lol

  • EPIC ! ! ! !! ! !!!

  • One word, Wow...

  • Thank you, thank you, THANK you for the uploads!

  • love it..

  • What can I say, beautiful, the live preformance is even bigger than the studio version

  • Amazing....

  • one word: EPIC!!!

  • wow! i just could see batou fending off the army of dolls while major was attempting to hack the system...priceless!!

  • There are more songs in this art ?

  • @TheLestart indeed. Wikipedia: "Kenji Kawai originally wanted to use Bulgarian folk singers, but was unable to find any, so he relied on the Japanese folk song choir he used earlier in the Ranma 1/2 anime. The song uses an ancient form of the Japanese language mixed with Bulgarian harmony and traditional Japanese notes."

  • goose 'frickin' bumps !!!!

  • this is phonogram?

  • i totally didnt expect this to be performed live at such a high standard. respect!!

  • Realmente impresionante.

    Espectacular...

  • FUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Where is the end?!?!

  • Sweet mother of Mary........... I really wished I were there !!!

  • @Soumyadeep2189

    Get the dvd at least.

And a good receiver + speaker set :)

  • I think the GiTS movies have the best music in anime history. These women express a lot of emotion with their singing. Kenji Kawai is a genius.

It would've been amazing to have been there in person at the concert :D

  • @Karami

fitting. it is THE best Japanamation if not all animation in general.

I was blown aaa-way when the intro included these remarkable singers.

I am an artist and a huge fan of great animation and that one took the whole sushi role w/ extra zesty wasabi!!!

  • wow this is amazing. the drums is on pointers.

  • Chilling.

  • What style of singing is that?

  • @Sojio It's called Min'yō (民謡) . There's an article about it on wikipedia. If you have trouble finding it, it's backlinked from the GITS:Innocence page.

  • @zlol56 Cheers dude.

  • cooooooool

  • Bit of a stretch to say so but, this is my favorite thing from GitS.

  • Goosebumps...made me cry!!!

    Simply Awesome!!

  • Ohhh, what I would've given to be there! Is there a dvd or something from this?

  • pure win!

  • this scary = o

  • do i have to cross half wolrd to see that awsome motherfucker?

  • Does anyone know anything about this singing style?? it is completely unknown to me and I love it =D

  • @Denuhm this singing style is 民謡(minyo).japanese traditional style.

  • This is giving me goosebumps... Wow...

  • AWESOME O_O

  • There is nothing I could say that would ever capture the majesty this performance has. Nothing I say!

And I thought the song its self was nothing short of epic. What I wouldn't give to have been there.

  • Incredible!

  • The perfection of this performance is just mindblowing.

  • Epic!!

  • sounds so sad, somebody can tell me the meaning of lyrics?

  • @sourzzon

it is something about how the cherry bloosoms die while they are still beautifull

  • Oh my god.... Bravo Kenji

  • This is ART at it's finest ,Thank You.

  • :S AMAZING... @o@

  • o___0'' they are..

  • Fabuleux !

  • ........so epic! :)

  • simply amazing.

  • Oh my god, as soon as they started I got covered with goosebumps. The performance was positively a beautiful display of perfection.

  • Perfectly well! Amazes!

  • I think the most amazing thing about this performance is that it sounds identical to the studio version.

  • I agree with you 'chmpop'. It is MOST excellent!

  • holy mother of all that is sweet and pure

  • I agree with you. Kenji's music is MOST excellent.

  • holy shit! awesome.

  • Does someone knows the lyrics of this song translated to english???? I search a half the internet and could not found nothing... I'd really aprecciate it!

  • Soberbio!!

  • The main theme of GITS 2 and 1 both are just incredible. It is such an amazing composition.

Even though I haven't heard much Japanese music but this is just too good. I've heard this over and over and never got bored of it. Too Good!

  • @amityaadav The theme of "Innocence" destroys the theme of the first film though.

It's not even close. Kenji Kawai is a genius

  • disagreed, I think Making of a Cyborg is much nicer. Just personal opinion though.

  • @dandanthepumpkinman You like the song, or u like the opening scene?

  • The chills in your back, it's ok, I have it too.

  • pure awesomeness

  • is this DVD source?

  • to all those guys thrashing for my me for my comment, please stop! its a fucking waste of time and cluttering my mail.

  • Awesomely fuckin marvelous indeed! Any of you guys know if that traditional japanese singing has a specific name? And I suppose the drums are Taiko, rite?

  • kenji kawai is a genius, with yoko kanno

  • ... I agree completely :) *goes to watch... and listen again*

  • I'm European, and I think japanese are a great people with a rich culture, you understood that by listening kenji kawai

  • That was cool. Hope they make another GitS movie, they're all cutting edge epics.

  • It gave me such chills! Incredible!

  • Incredible Music. If only we here in the West could make music with such passion as the Japanese do.

  • Alright, that's just ignorant. The West has some amazingly passionate music.

  • what are you talking about man?! while Asia maintains some unique musical elements, the west developed most of the theory that is now used in composing the vast majority of their popular and cinema music! I mean, Yoko Kanno composes primarily in standard American forms like blues and bebop jazz, while this relies heavily on established classical motifs and progressions! I won't deny that it's beautiful and inspired, but let's give credit where credit is due!
