  • There was NO police at this time.

  • I prefer historians armed with facts rather than conjecture. If you are speculating, say so for the sake of the students.

  • Listening to this guy is like reading the tabloids and pop culture magazines to find out the personal details of their lives - only in retrospect. Judging from comments, he's not very accurate historically but he spins a good yarn.

  • @xander7ful You are not wrong there. Try his lecture on Ben Disraeli for more fantasy.

  • So many inaccuracies it is very frustrating. For example Buckingham was not killed in Plymouth it was Portsmouth and to say he was 'shite' exposes a limited knowledge and vocabulary.

  • Is Mr. Stuart actually suggesting James I took Robert Carr and George Villiers as lovers? Sorry if I took the meaning literally if it wasn't intended to be..

  • @kirsty044 Yes... I believe it's rumoured that they were lovers.

  • George Villiers, if he wasn't such a bloody failure at everything Charles might actually have managed to succeed in his relationships with parliament despite his unconciliatory persona. Sure Buckingham's assassination at Plymouth was the reason he shut down parliament. Charles hated the MPs for celebrating his death. I don't blame them personally because he cost them alot of money through 2 failures at Cadiz in 1625 and Ile de Rhe in 1627. He was shite!

  • He meant to say 1615 at 0:30ish.

  • Robert Carr was my ancestor - directly.
