I love Stalker. CoP with "I Work Alone" mod is my favorite SP experience of any video game.

Shadow of Chernobyl is still great fun, it has bigger world and more random stalkers busting out acoustic guitars. So even if the zone is not as well crafted as it is in Call of Prypiat, the first Stalker game still has at least this two elements done better.

"Weapons not accurate" = you gotta use sights. Even still, some weapons (like the AK-74) aren't as accurate as their realworld counterparts in the vanilla game. Some are, though, like the SG550. Once in vanilla ShoC, I took out a Monolith sniper over a sniper's-length range (waaay down the road in Red Forest) with one shot from an SG550 (set on semi-auto) using iron sights. So it's just a matter of proper weapon + proper technique (+ awareness of bullet drop, especially w/9x39mm).

@jrlhlme I've noticed that too! Especially with shotguns (though this vid is an exception). I've only seen one 'Rage' gameplay video so far where the player actually aimed the shotgun. STALKER has the best double-barrel shotgun I've seen in an FPS game - the basic sawed-off TOZ-66 (or "hogleg" as I call it). It's a Russian Tula shotgun with Old West panache since it has "rabbit ears" (hammers). You don't often see "rabbit-ear" shotguns in FPS games that are actually cocked properly.

This title isn't the most flawless game if you play it unpatched, but I'd still prefer a rough diamond like Stalker over an overproduced piece of genericalness like Crysis. It's one of the most original games in years, and every shooter fan should at least give it a try.

Ive actually been to -- or the closest you can get to chernobyl (and im telling you it aint very close) and the atmosphere of this game actually looks alot like the atmophere around Pripyat and the power plant itself

The shooting mechanics weren't terrible, but very realistic, almost too realistic to some peoples tastes.

And unrealistically long distances? Not at all, if you are in their sites they will spot you and be alarmed. You can hide, or run, and they will lose interest.

If you were in the position these people are in the zone, and you saw an enemy from far away, would you NOT act on it?

Plus, there are mods for this anyways.

If you don't like extreme realism, this isn't the game for you.

Here's how steam works: You have an account, and if you buy a game, the purchase is bound to your account, so if you get a new computer, or want to go on a different one with the same game, you can download it to that computer aswell.

They now have the `steam cloud` aswell, which many of their new games support. It enables your saved games to be logged on their servers, so if you get the game on another computer, you can start where you left off.

For example, right now europe is getting insanely high temperatures, which isnt usual, and its wierd and unexplainable. thats an anomaly. in STALKER this word is used to describe these wierd things that pop up, most likely caused by the radiation. but these wierd things are triggered by movement, get too close and youll trigger it, for example: a trampoline, when you get too close it releases imense pressure, injuring u.

the dont explore /do side quests part is rlly retarded like 15 minutes ago i found a thunder that is modified to us the ak ammo, and im around the x16 lab part of the game, found a few cahces that had over 1k rounds for various guns stacks of granades and medpacs.... thats just bs this game rocks in every single aspect give it a 500/10

Yeh, the explore system is not about climbing beams to find possible weapons or artifacts (well good artifacts are hidden in SoC) but by getting cache locations from downed enemies and then go and find them, some might even be trick to get to.

Hard to make an open pfs game while having "here be dragons" locations scattered around, think stalker did a good job on that account

I am one of those guys who waited 6 years for this game and it did fine when it came out. Alot of thinking is needed to understand the plot since i've read so many posts where ppl ask what about the endings and such.

The atmosphere is the key element for me in the game. I love it. It warps me back to the setting where I originally come from.

In short ... a lovely experience

Really! this game is awsm, and even if you just follow the Quests and story its not actually that simple, there are 7 ways to end tha game, and only one is the right one + there are a lot of fraktions you can play with, i meen groops of other frelancers that search for stuff, its really interesting you wont regret it :P

Well there are plenty of spots and buildings that with the enough exploring uncover many kewl things like in 1 big old factory you can climb on pipes to find armor piercing rounds for the best guns in the game and at some forest part if you search long enough you can find 1 of the best artifacts in the game etc ;)
