@mandizle1 the person you play as name is Jack Wynand and he dosn't turn into a splicer because he didn't use Adam for long term he only was in rapture for a few days. I assume thats why he dosn't become a splicer. But he will always be mute after going through the voice box remover to become a big daddy.

@NEJI91000 to answer your question, yes the people are mutated due to the constant use of ADAM which alters your genetic code. Long term use of ADAM causes the person to go insane and grow deformities. thus most people in rapture are crazy. these people are refered to as splicers. there are still normal people in the game like Johnny who you see die in the intro but few remain because the normal population who didn't splice were murdered by the splicers. wow i feel like a nerd lol

@BodomChild86 despite the fact that Andrew Ryan successfully executed his plan to create a underwater city where no man fears censorship and geniuses would not be limited to will of the government, etc. He forgot to take into account that humans are humans it is our nature to be motivated by things that ultimately lead to our down fall. Although the creation of this utopia is not impossible the maintenance under those ideals is another thing entirely.
