Vervolgens werd België inderdaad wel veroverd door de Fransen, maar dan weer TOEGEWEZEN aan Nederland. En het doel van zowel WOI en WOII was heus niet om even België te veroveren zoals hier laat uitschijnen.

Na het verlies van Napoleon is op het Congres van Wenen beslist dat er een sterke buffer tegen Frankrijk moest zijn. 2 kleine staatjes worden 1 middelgrote staat: het Verenigd Koninkrijk der Nederlanden. België (of Bourgondië op dat moment) kwam in handen van de Habsburgers na een huwelijk met Maximiliaan van Habsburg. Bij de opdeling van het Habsburgse rijk bleeft het bij de Spaanse Habsburgers. @ciuventus yeah, go right ahead and parrot a stereotype.. try exploring further than brussels next time, there are some really interesting and beautiful cities, landscapes and some of the wildest music festivals in the world here.. also, i dont know where you're getting the "more police than inhabitants" part from but our entire country has about the same amount of police officers as the city of new york... the only place where you will see a lot of cops is brussels, because it's needed there.

i know how belgium is ,i live there...and not in brussel but in genk , and there is much police for what is needed.. de city of genk is calm and peaceful but RELATIVELY "full" of police...

daarom heb ik dat gezegt...

and if its for the landscapes , i prefer go outseide belgium like france or even better italy..

for festivals no problem ;)
