  • plasma is bugged for me

  • Thanks xgeous for the tut. btw, i discovered something to improve the ice effect of the textured text.

    1. add layer

    2. blend tool - dark blue (foreground) over light blue (background)

    3. click DODGE effect opacity 75-80.

4.result: more realistic ice textured text.

    Have fun!ü

  • I'm gonna try that. Thanx for your contribution.

  • sehr gut gemacht!

Gracias a ti por tus comentarios.

  • Thanks man.

  • Damn that's awesome!

  • hey how would i put this on top of another pic for the intro on my website? but it needs to be transparent in the back grund

  • Save it as .GIF or .PNG, they both support transparency. Look for tutorial in google about how to save transparent gif or png in Gimp.

  • what is your font please?

  • 0:22 In the video I used the Impact Font Condense

  • photoshop is very cool i also use it more than gimp. But i am a fan of Ubuntu/linux so i have to work with gimp. but gimp is not as bad as you say. its very cool and simple and its free. XD

  • awesome! and practical

  • U Rock.. Lol Really Nice =D

  • wht theme?

  • awesome!

  • I don´t understand the alphachannel thing.

  • lol. The Alphachannel does when is "nothing" instead of making it white it makes actually nothing there

  • something add to alphacanal dont work :(

  • this is a great tutorial thanks and whats the music in the background of this tutorial?

  • Great tutorial. Very good to follow! But what was the point of making a new layer and then merging it down?

  • You're right, this is the answer. When I was creating this tutorial I was experimenting with the Gimp. I din't realize that there was an option called " Layer to Image Size" that can do exactly the same thing. You don't need to create a new transparent layer and merge it down. Just click on the layer and select "Layer to Image Size".

But the point is that the layer needs to be resize in order for the effect to work. Good observation.

  • Thanks for the answer. It is indeed a way to make the layer to image size. I didn't realise that. I'm new to Gimp and trying to learn as much as possible. It worked for me without doing either but maybe that is because the text layer was rotated? Now I need to try it again to find out. lol

  • Great Tutorial, Thank You xgeous! :D

  • geil!!

  • Reverse it and make the 90 degree rotate to the left and then add the hue so it's red and it looks a bit like fire. Tweeking it with ripples, smudges and Iwarp can get that blown flame look without messing up your text. You'll have to play with it to adjust it to your liking.

  • Yeah, show them what Gimp can do. Thanks for the inspiration.
