  • would you ever want to part with one?

  • instructional please!

  • That was pretty well played!

I love the tone of this instrument. Is there any chance of a future video showing how you made it?

  • Hey buckeye my hats is off to YOU what a cool idea and a pretty fine sounding little old CIGAR box mando too. You're a might fine picker too!

I will PM you with an email address -- I'm in the Cincinnati area.

  • That was awesome man!

  • Great work! and great playing!!!

    Sounds very good!

  • Wow! Sounds great man. Do you have any advice to offer as to what I should look for in a cigar box/body? Thank a lot.

  • Hey WhatDidYOuUseForStrings? Awesomebytheway

  • I've built 3 cigar-box guitars, and a sort of wierd banjo with a plywood top and a PVC sewer-pipe "pot".

Presently working on a cigar-box resonator guitar; it's about 80% finished.

I really want to do a mandolin next; I've been doing research. That one sounds pretty good!

  • Too cool:)

  • Was that a kit off ebay by any chance?? I want to BUILD ONE TOO!!!

  • No kit, I put it together myself. I have another one I'm nearly finished with if you're interested in buying one. If you really want to build one I could probably get a 'kit' together for you. E-mail if you're interested in either.

  • Did you have to put a reinforcing rod in the neck so it wouldn't collapse in? How did you make the neck? Please mail back, i want to make my own.

  • I cut the neck myself and did not reinforce it as it is just a bit thicker than I usual (maybe 1/8in, doesn't make it feel awkward or too thick). The first neck I made for a mandolin did have issues however. The necks and headstock I make are from one piece of wood so no joining. That said the first one I made didn't have a thick enough headstock to handle 8 strings. I made a new neck with a thicker headstock and no issues. That's my best advice if you don't want to mess with a truss rod.

  • Love it. :) I'm only a wannabe player - but I think this is just fantastic. Good job!

  • Very cool - I have to build one now...

  • wow!!it's so cool....

  • I love playing mandolin and it never occured to me make one. This rocks!

  • hey that's really cool, sounds great!
