I agree with this. I have watches family an friends family starve to death for several dies till they die cuz they couldn't eat cuz of cancer. Or just lay there to die in a hospital.
Medically ethical is appropriate. It's not like he was doing some twisted crap to the bodys or people
I understand wishing to die when one has fatal and slow killing disease. When I was suffering from vertigo, I couldn't sit eat drink read listen to music sleep lay down stand up even I was suffering vertigo in my dreams, too. Life was double edged sword. Death looked good. BUT showing assisted suicide on TV is NOT appropriate because those who love life despite the suffering may feel guilty of being burden to their family and society. The society shouldn't make them feel like they are burden.
This Man was a genius! He sacrificed his whole life and his liberty to give the terminals patients a no painful death, and some kind of relief at their last moments!
So... Dr. Kevorkian RIP You should be recognised worldwide as a great person!
I spoke to Dr. Kevorkian 3 times on the telephone some years ago now. I was given a diagnosis of MS in February of 1989. 17 years later the Doctors didn't really know and I will never really have a correct answer. Everyone is going to die eventually and many people should be able to go on their terms when they decide to. I would gladly donate all my good organs to someone to continue to live than to exist each day with the oddness I have. Dr. Kevorkian really did care about people.
imagine of you are old and you can't handle your life as you want I say and I believe the special is not the wrong the wrong somtimes is the usual somtimes we became shellfishes because we want him to stop doing something that will help allot of people because we don't like it
Every human has the right to live as is the right to die.
Freedom of choice, life is about choices and if I were so sick and unable to live a life I'd rather die than be a burden on family, friends or myself.
The sooner we as a species abandon religion of all kinds peole will NOT have to suffer needlessly, things like stem-cell research and Dr. assisted suicides would give people options to their situation the only real saint is Dr. K
Courage, bravery, fortitude, will, and intrepidity, is the ability to confront fear, pain, risk/danger, uncertainty, or intimidation. "Physical courage" is courage in the face of physical pain, hardship, death, or threat of death, while "moral courage" is the ability to act rightly in the face of popular opposition, shame, scandal, or discouragement = Dr Jack Kevorkian
Dr. Kavorkian is the greatest! I agree with him, and would love to have his help should I find that my living is only profits the hospitals and doctors who want keep charging to keeping me alive to suffer longer. I'm with you Dr. Kavorkian!
Dr. Kavorkian is a patriot looking out for our rights. He only helped suffering patients and in fact turned away 90% of the people who he felt wasn't ready. The only reason it's not legal is because of greed and money. Why help someone in suffering who's gonna die an excruciating death anyway. When you can charge their family 6 more months of medical bills and fees. Greedy bastards
Unlike many religious people, I believe you have the right to opt out of life. I have depression and have been suicidal in the past, and I have the utmost respect for anybody enduring such misery. We'll put a liter of puppies to sleep without batting an eyelash when we do not even own ourselves. My aunt died of cancer, after months of bed ridden pain and agony. She was a skeleton devoid of joy and purpose. How *dare* religious lunatics force people to go through such humiliation and die without any dignity just to preserve their outdate immoral bronze age dogmatic bullshit.
Thank you Dr.. you are a great person and medical profession should be proud of you, to sacrifice so much of your life for the comfort and autonomy of your patients
If I sign a contract along with my life insurance policy to end my life in dignity, and to end my suffering any longer and further more not to exhaust the finances of my family or countrymen (be a burden to society) I know that my final wishes should be carried out by my final decree and by my law!
I agree 100% even if you turn the machine off you starve to death now that's barbaric his machine is more humian now how can this country do the death penality but not do this wtf society is fucked!!!
Dr. death Dr. Kevorkian is a great man! he dont back down from anyone. he speaks his mind. and if you dont like him ur polly a COWARD or just sheep following other people around you dont even believe in your own self SHAME ON YOU if u say anything bad about this man !
I've always been a beilever in what Dr. Jack Kevorkian says and has done..After watcing my grandmother suffer from terminal cancer and all that horrible pain and die in a hospice was awful. All she would would ask for is for it to be over and how she didn't want to die like this. Watching her starve and in so much pain was awful knowing I couldn't help her let alone anyone else, the laws need to be changed.
i cant agree more with dr.kevorkian the really sick people in this world that CANT be cured have a right to say if they wana live or no i think dr.k didnt deserve to go to jail at all fuck the law and media and fuck what ppl say about god knws when a person shld die,wld god want them to suffer? nah so fuck em alll
when people say that its unnatural for euthenasia their being hypocrites because its just as unnatural to keep vegetables alive on giant expensive life support as some fucked up burden. i personally think thats much more fucked up than euthenasia and that you should choose your own fate in a permanent situation like so
and while I agree with Kevorkian and freedom of choice I really hope hardcore psychiatry is being performed on each person before they are allowed to just off themselves. Depression often times accompanies extreme illness. and when diagnosed and cured perhaps ones thoughts on suicide may change. Let's not confuse mental illness such as depression with a genuine desire to die.
I believe people who Oppose Dr Kevorkian are very selfish and ignorant More than enough people are living already. Draining the Earth & pouring C02 into the atmosphere so future generations can't experience This Beautiful World!!!
I SALUTE YOU Kevorkian! These dumbass scared simple minded people make me sick
STILL Bottom line_ if people want death, They can still easily achieve it.
America needs to Learn to Love Death. it can solve alot of problems plaguing this country.
TRUST ME PEOPLE WHO "REALLY" GET AHEAD DONT FOLLOW THOSE RULES. THE PHARMACECEUTICLE INDUSTRY KILLS AND RUINS THE MINDS OF MILLIONS OF PEOPLE ALL THE WHILE GETTING RICHER AND RICHER
if you live your life by those rules, YOU ARE MOST LIKELY DOING WRONG
You people can not grasp the concept that is so pertinent to this entire mess. The first rule a doctor swears an oath to, Do no harm. This man may give an impressive argument, but the fact is this is a slippery slope. Say I get cancer at twenty and feel my life has ended why should I be denied the right to kill myself?
Should be legal, Kevorkian did nothing wrong. Terminally ill have a right to decide when to die and should be able to end their life. Hospitals and doctors kill patients every day via morphine and taking them off life support.
@GlossyShoes - No doubt about it. Dr. Kevorkian is ahead of his time and so are people like you for thinking this way. Future generations will agree with you, and will surely look back on Dr. Kevorkian being sent to prison as nothing less than man's inhumanity to man.
It might make sense for someone so hopelessly depressed so they do it calmly, privately, predictably and relatively painlessly rather than jumping off a bridge or sliting their own wrists or something even more barbaric and painful/potentially dangerous.
On March 4, 2010, a US congressional panel narrowly voted that the incident was indeed genocide; within minutes the Turkish government issued a statement critical of "this resolution which accuses the Turkish nation of a crime it has not committed THE TURKS ARE COWARDS LOW LIFES AND THE BIGGEST SCUM ON EARTH!!!!!!!! 1915 ALL ARMENIANS THAT PASSED REST IN POWER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If our pets were suffering of a injury that they will most likely die from,or its just plain inhumane to keep them alive....we would do the same to our pets
a humane way to end our pets suffering
ha
then how humane are we to to let our loved ones suffer,if we wont allow assisted suicide! ???
I never understood how the whole world ended up against this guy and how his message was turned into a joke. I think he speaks common sense, but apparently sense isn't so common. I'll admit he his style of argument is a bit brash, but his actions were truly humanitarian in my opinion.
Why should people who have nothing to live for have to suffer waiting to die of starvation, or go on pointlessly living, when they could die painlessly and on their own terms?
I think even depressed people should have the choice to die. Under any circumstance, if a person chooses to die, he/she should have that choice. Who care what illness or lack there of he/she may have. Many healthy people live out pathetic, pointless, redundant lives. Everyday routine becomes agony, so what the fuck is the point of going on. We are nothing more than microbes in the grand scheme of universe. Who gives a shit if people choose to end their lives. Life isnt sacred, it just happens
@andron333 i don't know. depression goes away. i get depressed at the end of every week, but i feel great and refreshed at the beginning of each week. i think depression is curable, and it has been curable.
@andron333 I absolutely agree! I am always surprised at how many people condemn Dr. Kevorkian without really knowing what he was doing. It's not as if he was assisting in the suicides of teenagers! Every single patient he assisted was an adult, fully rational, who was suffering in some fashion. Friends and family were included. What I mean is that Dr. Kevorkian never went on a fly-by-night series of helping kill random people who just decided they no longer wanted to live.
lol i agree with that statement 100%. I honestly don't care for the person if he decides to kill himself. Who i do care for are the people affected by him, including his family. However, it all happens in context too. If you are dying from a terminal illness, your family should understand why suicide may be a feasible option. However, if one decides to commit suicide because he suffers from *depression*, of which is absolutely curable, then the people close to him may be severely affected.
@verkpunk Furthermore, not everybody is depressed when they're dying from cancer. They're just in pain. They want to die because they're in pain, not because of depression.
@kittymouse86 I think you are right. I can't imagine how truly suffering one must be to agree to endure the barbarism of turning off their feeding support and slowly die of starvation because the doctors are too coward to help.
@jerramy I agree. The "right to die" movement (including the Florida State Supreme Court) did Terri Schiavo a HUGE injustice. They starved her to death without HER or her family's consent.
Physician Assisted Suicide was Developed BY GREEDY Physicians, Insurance Companies etc..
AND
How do you know that they DIDNT LIE about the disease so they can GET RID OF PEOPLE!!!
But WHY do they want to die??? HAPPY people DON'T want to die!! Perhaps if we could make their life, or what's left of it better than they wouldn't want to die until it was their time??
What worth is the world where you dont have the time to be yourself, working like a slave for companies and being proud of refusing life.
im not saying that suiside is good or bad
but maybe for some people the only way to live, instead of taking painkillers or anty dipression drugs wich dont cure the cause of the diesese bt reducing the effects the same time side effects dont let you live at all, and the only aim of giving this drugs is to sell more and more pills
WMU's ground-breaking play, Good Death, opens the eyes and minds of those who are hesitant to see the light regarding the good doctor, death & dying, and euthanasia.
though quickly throwing out the idea without explaining would make most people think he is crazy, when he explains it, its totally true. i agree with him completely. everyone has the right to thier own body (unless youre like under 18).
All these comments are encouraging. It's nice to see people who believe a person has an ultimate choice over their own life and body. Spread the idea of individualism, libertarianism and secular humanism.
@Back2BackJack - Absolutely. Don't be fooled by the media -- secular human beings are much more prevalent and widespread than the perception would have you believe.
How can someone prevent you from killing yourself really? What's the problem here? ... Of course you may not be able to if you are severely disabled...
dr kevorkian is a hero! and "unock" is fucking right! nobody has the right to tell you stay alive and continue living through the hell their living> noone! they have no idea
If a person is suffering, then they have a right to die if they choose. They have lost all control of their lives. Why not take some control and choose when and how you are going to die?
what happened with this man?

ToniSkit 1 year ago 4
I've always been a beilever in what Dr. Jack Kevorkian says and has done..After watcing my grandmother suffer from terminal cancer and all that horrible pain and die in a hospice was awful. All she would would ask for is for it to be over and how she didn't want to die like this. Watching her starve and in so much pain was awful knowing I couldn't help her let alone anyone else, the laws need to be changed.

Dr. Kevorkian, you will go down in history as a true hero.
And history will show once again that religion poisons everything.

when people say that its unnatural for euthenasia their being hypocrites because its just as unnatural to keep vegetables alive on giant expensive life support as some fucked up burden. i personally think thats much more fucked up than euthenasia and that you should choose your own fate in a permanent situation like so
JoboTex9 1 year ago
and while I agree with Kevorkian and freedom of choice I really hope hardcore psychiatry is being performed on each person before they are allowed to just off themselves. Depression often times accompanies extreme illness. and when diagnosed and cured perhaps ones thoughts on suicide may change. Let's not confuse mental illness such as depression with a genuine desire to die.

This is my last comment, but if you look at all these comment you'll see one thing
Yea People are praising Dr Kevorkian( me aswell )
And you know WHY? Because he is speaking COMMON SENSE & MOST IMPORTANTLY..... THE TRUTH
freshallday09 1 year ago
I believe people who Oppose Dr Kevorkian are very selfish and ignorant More than enough people are living already. Draining the Earth & pouring C02 into the atmosphere so future generations can't experience This Beautiful World!!!
I SALUTE YOU Kevorkian! These dumbass scared simple minded people make me sick
STILL Bottom line_ if people want death, They can still easily achieve it.
America needs to Learn to Love Death. it can solve alot of problems plaguing this country.

WITH THEIR DUMBASS RULES
TRUST ME PEOPLE WHO "REALLY" GET AHEAD DONT FOLLOW THOSE RULES. THE PHARMACECEUTICLE INDUSTRY KILLS AND RUINS THE MINDS OF MILLIONS OF PEOPLE ALL THE WHILE GETTING RICHER AND RICHER
if you live your life by those rules, YOU ARE MOST LIKELY DOING WRONG
freshallday09 1 year ago 3
You people can not grasp the concept that is so pertinent to this entire mess. The first rule a doctor swears an oath to, Do no harm. This man may give an impressive argument, but the fact is this is a slippery slope. Say I get cancer at twenty and feel my life has ended why should I be denied the right to kill myself?
DECALLMETROD 1 year ago
@DECALLMETROD you just answered your own question. You shouldn't be denied that right.

Should be legal, Kevorkian did nothing wrong. Terminally ill have a right to decide when to die and should be able to end their life. Hospitals and doctors kill patients every day via morphine and taking them off life support.
GlossyShoes 1 year ago
@GlossyShoes - No doubt about it. Dr. Kevorkian is ahead of his time and so are people like you for thinking this way. Future generations will agree with you, and will surely look back on Dr. Kevorkian being sent to prison as nothing less than man's inhumanity to man.

It might make sense for someone so hopelessly depressed so they do it calmly, privately, predictably and relatively painlessly rather than jumping off a bridge or sliting their own wrists or something even more barbaric and painful/potentially dangerous.

I never understood how the whole world ended up against this guy and how his message was turned into a joke. I think he speaks common sense, but apparently sense isn't so common. I'll admit he his style of argument is a bit brash, but his actions were truly humanitarian in my opinion.
Why should people who have nothing to live for have to suffer waiting to die of starvation, or go on pointlessly living, when they could die painlessly and on their own terms?
kittymouse86 1 year ago 51
@kittymouse86 Why ? Because ignorant people abound and Corporate American has decided there is no profit in freedom of choice.
willyD200 1 year ago
I think even depressed people should have the choice to die. Under any circumstance, if a person chooses to die, he/she should have that choice. Who care what illness or lack there of he/she may have. Many healthy people live out pathetic, pointless, redundant lives. Everyday routine becomes agony, so what the fuck is the point of going on. We are nothing more than microbes in the grand scheme of universe. Who gives a shit if people choose to end their lives. Life isnt sacred, it just happens
andron333 1 year ago
@andron333 i don't know. depression goes away. i get depressed at the end of every week, but i feel great and refreshed at the beginning of each week. i think depression is curable, and it has been curable.
avnguyen123 1 year ago
@avnguyen123 there is a difference between temporary depression and constant despair, numbness and hopelessness
andron333 1 year ago
@andron333 I absolutely agree! I am always surprised at how many people condemn Dr. Kevorkian without really knowing what he was doing. It's not as if he was assisting in the suicides of teenagers! Every single patient he assisted was an adult, fully rational, who was suffering in some fashion. Friends and family were included. What I mean is that Dr. Kevorkian never went on a fly-by-night series of helping kill random people who just decided they no longer wanted to live.
JaymesB27 1 year ago

lol i agree with that statement 100%. I honestly don't care for the person if he decides to kill himself. Who i do care for are the people affected by him, including his family. However, it all happens in context too. If you are dying from a terminal illness, your family should understand why suicide may be a feasible option. However, if one decides to commit suicide because he suffers from *depression*, of which is absolutely curable, then the people close to him may be severely affected.
avnguyen123 1 year ago
@verkpunk Furthermore, not everybody is depressed when they're dying from cancer. They're just in pain. They want to die because they're in pain, not because of depression.
avnguyen123 1 year ago
@kittymouse86 I think you are right. I can't imagine how truly suffering one must be to agree to endure the barbarism of turning off their feeding support and slowly die of starvation because the doctors are too coward to help.
jerramy 1 year ago
@jerramy I agree. The "right to die" movement (including the Florida State Supreme Court) did Terri Schiavo a HUGE injustice. They starved her to death without HER or her family's consent.

Physician Assisted Suicide was Developed BY GREEDY Physicians, Insurance Companies etc..
AND
How do you know that they DIDNT LIE about the disease so they can GET RID OF PEOPLE!!!
But WHY do they want to die??? HAPPY people DON'T want to die!! Perhaps if we could make their life, or what's left of it better than they wouldn't want to die until it was their time??
laurajdahl 2 years ago
What worth is the world where you dont have the time to be yourself, working like a slave for companies and being proud of refusing life.
im not saying that suiside is good or bad
but maybe for some people the only way to live, instead of taking painkillers or anty dipression drugs wich dont cure the cause of the diesese bt reducing the effects the same time side effects dont let you live at all, and the only aim of giving this drugs is to sell more and more pills
