If you think about it. Tornadoes may have fast winds, but they move slow. It's the flying debris that's the real threat. You could drive right past one and it would take like 2 minutes to get to the road. Ha once a HUGE tornado formed formed far away from us and it seemed like it was going fast. When we past it it, it took like 5 minutes to cross the road. XD

@PumkinPeanut This was from June 24th, 2003. I'm one of the two guys that was standing in front of the white '98 Pontiac Grand Am. This day was a huge outbreak for South Dakota, with 67 confirmed tornadoes. This Manchester tornado was by far the strongest of them all, with winds at 260mph. Unfortunately, my camera was out of film at this point of the chase. Luckily, people like Roger Hill and Reed Timmer captured amazing video of this monster.

With the storm motion in a rare north/northwest movement, it was very intriguing to see a tornado moving to the northwest. (Most storms/tornadoes in the states move North-East-South by rarely to the west) Standing outside of the vehicle was such a humbling experience; listening to the roar and watching the debris fall around us (mostly leaves and paper) was truly surreal.
