First saw Regina Carter on TV playing with the detestable egomaniac Yanni.Bought one of her solo CDs and was blown away.She's AMAZING !

Agreed. I have yet to hear jazz violin that actually swings. Way too much articulation is lost to the bow.

why would she start off playing squaty roo? it just doesn't make sense to me, maybe they played that song next or something. Anyway, she is definitely a good player and does these changes justice. This song is a very good song in my opinion also, and anyone who dug it should check out the version with freddie hubbard, woody shaw and kenny garrett... its amazing.

you should see interplay (with Nadja Salerno Sonnenberg and Eileen Ivers with the Boston Pops Orchestra...it's on youtube...can't remember who posted it though...anyway,) she goes into a phrase from and Irish jig called Irish Washerwoman, maybe it's a Regina thing...
