I believe this concert was at the Ocean State Performing Arts Center now known as the Providence Performing Arts Center. 1st concert ever and fantastic! Joe Perry joined for Need Your Love guitar war
another of my fave tunes from my fave cheap trick record. they've always been heavier live than on their records. i wish they'd have recorded this song and the rest of this song like this! this is some serious power pop with punk and hard rock overtones.
Surprised to see Tom on bass in this video. Especially with the High Priest intro, must have been just around the time of All Shook Up, the album which he left during. Pete Comita took over shortly after.
TRUE! I remember seeing his suits in the 80's when the shoulder pads were wider then his slim framed body. But damn did he STILL look so awesome. I still love this band so much. I've lost count of how many times I've seen them, but not where. I think Robin might remember me from 1 of them, of maybe a few. They're such a nice bunch!
One of my favourite CT songs. How many bands can write a songs about a friends suicide that is both sensitive and rocking at the same time? Fuckin genius...
The intro is from the Phenomenal Cheap Trick song "High Priest of Rhythmic Noise". Very clever. These guys are amazing!!!! BTW. Amazing footage! Cheers
Wow... really interesting intro - feels like the wheels almost fall off heading into the transition to the actual song - but I like the intro all the same....

Robin Zander, truly one of the few straight performers who can get away with wearing a pink suit.

Robin could wear a potato sack and get away with it. It's collness, you either got "IT", or you don't. Often imitated but never duplicated!

@judges77 And doesn't he look suitably smart in it . Classy indeed.

@muddy2 Exactly. A friend who was a huge CT fan did just committed the dreaded S word this past Tuesday. He's missed very, very much by many.

At the Ocean state Performing Arts Center early March 1980. I was there at age 16 and it was amazing. Joe Perry jammed with them for one song.

Isn't Rick playing what eventually became "High Priest of Rhythmic Noise" as an opener? Wow....that's pretty cool.

First Video with Rick on Keyboards (probably Mellotron?) - Fantasic Version!!
Hangover539 3 years ago
yeah, it was a mellotron, you can tell by the sample of the strings
I have that sample on my keyboard (along with many other mellotron sounds including the flutes) good stuff
