By no means should Captain Pham's accomplishments be dismissed. She is the first Vietnamese-American female fighter pilot. However, She is not the first female F/A-18 pilot, nor the first female Hornet pilot in Combat. I served aboard the USS Enterprise with Lt. Carol Watts and Lt. Lyndsi Bates (VFA-37) during Operation Desert Fox in 1998.

I'm a former Army Warrant Ofc having flown the OH-6, UH-60 and the AH-64 Apache. I'll correct myself in saying that I don't have a problem with female pilots. I just don't think they should flying combat aircraft.
