which version is this & where can i purchase it. the remastered version(posted on youtube as well) seems to lack some scenes(such as wildstar climbing the staircase towards desslock)???
As spacegoing monarchs are reckoned, Desslok of Gamilon was the first and last of his breed. The others who came after him might have commanded vastly superior forces and weaponry, but they were all cheap imitators and not very bright.
No, the Old Blue Fox* was the smart one. He knew when it was time to stop fighting and walk away. There was simply no profit left in conquering Earth anymore, for the Star Force had raised the price too high!
@logandarklighter Bingo. Desslok changed everyone's idea of a cold-blooded, calculating enemy. Shown a combo of brilliance, guile and common sense. This scene proved once again how complex a nemesis is supposed to act, and I haven't seen anyone come close to Desslok's level.
Then again, maybe Desslok doesn't want to fight 2 enemies at once which is the CE and EDF, so he'll settle with a familiar foe.
This was my favorite scene of the entire series too. I was only a kid when I saw it the first time. Pretty powerful stuff for an after school "cartoon."
Definitely powerful stuff... revolutionary for its time, really. A more "adult" drama packed into a children's cartoon (originally "Yamato")...
And thanks for posting the main cast list... they WERE some amazing vocal artists--and they inspired me to do my own vocals for my production called "Balance of Power"... :)
I don't know what to say . I have been asking for this episode and scene ( Deslock's turn ) for years . It is without arguement one of the most powerful
in the entire run .
Havent seen this english version since the days when itaire originally in New York on channel five 2 1/2 decades ago. Thousnds of thank yous.
@lutsk572 WNEW - Channel 5, Monday - Friday 2:30 p,.m. I would catch almost every episode when I got home from school in New Jersey. I wish that Desslok had fought with Wildstar and the others against The Comet empire, but I guess that would happen in Season 3....which wasn't sold to the U.S.
episodes 21 thru 26 of the comet empire were the epic ever. Loved this stuff, especially when Desslok escaped in episode (I think) 21 or 22. Thanks for this.
I, for one, appreciate the bonus Comet Empire episode--and with Desslok's change of heart, it's arguably one of the best of the Star Blazers/Yamato series. Thanks for the surprise treat!
This is why Desslock was so cool

This, scene, more than any other, I think, is why I will always love Star Blazers.
Here's to the absolute archetype of "The Noble Adversary". The character who damn well redefined what the term even MEANS.
Desslok is the MAN.

When I was young, I was always looking forward to new episodes. The combo of the theme song and storyline always had me coming back for more.

This is a permanent part of my childhood memories - and no matter how many flaws this programme has, it does not matter to me.
