It was the professional (non-Suffolk) archaeologists who originally spread the mispronunciation of the place they were excavating - local man Basil knew that it is pronounced Hoe, not Who.

I have been meaning to go here for ages - and still have not made it. There are nice exhibits in the British Museum.
