  • this is not from natural elements what are you on about

  • What kind of a violin is that? looks like a double violin?

  • Thats a pretty insipid version of a tune masterfully done on the first Shakti record I believe 'Natural Elements' with John McLaughlin. Wow they really made this tune something. This version is quite boring, & monotenous in my opinion, check out the tune on the record though, one of my favorites!

  • I respect your opinion but I really love this version...

  • So do I...

  • @salaamsuite: truth to tell, I like it too.

  • beautiful moment of masterful improvitation to reach communion, beautiful.

  • What's the point of reuploading a clip I put on before?

    Nick

  • it's a ceramaic drum

  • No no no! Not that, I play tabla! I mean the OTHER brown shaped instrument that looks like a pot!

  • What is the brown ball shaped instrument?

  • It is called a Ghatam or clay-pot.

The artist is Vikku Vinayakram- check him out on YouTube-Amazing!

  • its called a matka u r talken about the one all the way on the right right so yea its called a matka

  • r u on fuken crack or somethen this is a great piece of music

  • Fantastic!

  • This is from 1995 recording "SHAKTI" Ustad Zakir Hussian,John MClaughlin,T,H, Vinayakram and Shankar.

  • 1995? looks much older!

  • No it's not. This is the peshkar lineup. They did some 5 concerts.

  • Most of you are right, the violin processed through the soundboard does sound a little awkward at first, but understand that the 16th note runs that L. Shankar performs are very difficult and he does more than an excellent job preserving the beauty of musical improvisation within the constraints of the Raaga in comparison to the album version that Jan Gerbarek renders on Saxaphone.

  • Zakir Hussain is definitely my strongest source of musical inspiration and a long time idol of mine. I think this composition in Raag Hamsadhwani is absolutely brilliant, combining western elements such as guitar and sax (in this case violin).

  • my dream is to see this great great great drummer .. at least once in my life..surely it is Zakir Hussain

  • türkçe konuşun lan.ama herif hakkaten çok iyi

  • amazing song, great performance, i want to see hussein

  • does anyone know if this is on a cd?

  • Yep, I've heard it with the cheesy electric violin replaced by a saxophone - the album is called 'making music' and that's one of the best tracks.

  • Having listened to the cd, i find it weird because:

Cd has john mclaughlin, here we have larry coryell

CD has jan gabarek on the tenor sax, here we have L Shankar on the 10 stringed violin

Brilliant! a jam with all of them would be brilliant

  • the electric violin is pretty bad, cheesy..but the solo is amazing. Zakir is the man

  • the violin is cheesy, but not bad >:-]

  • wowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww

    i Love Tabla

  • wow zakir looks so young (he always does, but this one's really young). Must have recorded in the late 80s or something. The violin sounds a little weird, it's making an unusual echo, probably not processed well on the board.

  • mesemrized for every second, how much of that was improvised?

  • ahh...zakir..i love him
