I don't suppose the episode where Chris talks about Alien is out there somewhere?
Being an X rated film there was only so much he could talk about but I seem to remember the opening sequence where the space helmets seem to be talking to each other being shown.
I seem to recall an episode of this where a couple of kids recreated the mine-cart chase from Indiana Jones & the Temple of Doom in their back garden and filmed it with their dad's cine camera.
Run home, throw your school bag on the floor, and the TV was yours for 90 mins until local news came on after Blue Peter. Programs especially for kids, when they came home, and also during the lunch break. Nowadays kids get Americans screaming at each other to take lie detector tests," coz, I know u bin done cheatin' on me Dwayne ",
If I remember correctly, Chris Kelly looked like a wavier haired version of Benny Hill .
I remember they did a Star Wars special or something?
I'm pretty sure, as I strongly recall having some sort of a mental collapse due to pure, mute excitement as I was silently watching it, sitting maybe 4 inches from the screen.
I loved this when it was on. I actually wrote to this show, because they used to show clips of Ray Harryhausen's films. This got me into stop start animation, in films like, Jason and the Argonaughts, Clash of the Titans [the original film] and many others. I got a large brown envelope back, with a letter inside, stating that if I wanted to work in animation, I would have to go to art school. Also got film prints of some of the films in which the creatures appeared.
@digitalbroadcaster - absolutely! And the captions slid in from the side - "Your Host" came in from the left, and just underneath it "Chris Kelly" slid in from the right. I thought Chris Kelly was brilliant - he never spoke as though he was addressing children, but as interested (young) people.
Actually, whatever happened Chris Kelly?!!! Even searching for him on YT or Google doesn't bring up anything on him. Not even in images, not that I'd really remember what he looked like.
I wonder if this is a deep down psychological reason for me why I joined the motion picture industry? (after leaving the back stabbing life of TV production). lol
Well,I wouldn't have put it quite as bluntly as the guy below, but I too am curious as to wether Chris is still with us, and if so, what's he up to these days?
A great clip from a time when you didn't have to be under 20 to present a kids tv show or reduce every bit of information down to a few seconds of soundbite. They really don't make them like this any more.
For those who don't know, the purpose of a clapperboard is to sync the sound and pictures (which are recorded seperately). You need to line up the sound of the clap exactly with the sight of the board closing.
In a seperate aside, I always associated this programme with Tyne Tees for some reason, so it was a bit of a shock to see that Granada frontcap - memory can play tricks after a quarter century or so...
i do not remember this series at all..........so why is this clip familiar O_o ???

Now THAT'S a theme tune. :) Like the minimalist graphics too. Didn't like the programme itself though, if I recall correctly.

Not seen Chris Kelly in anything for years....didn't he look a bit like Dan Ackroyd?

@mistofoles
He moved on to be a producer, mainly of quality drama, and has also written quite a few episodes of some of the most popular dramas.

Wonder if Granada ever realised how boring their ident was!
Probably because most of their programmes were boring!

What a great squelchy theme tune. I'd forgotten how funky it was.

It was originally broadcast in 1972 with different music. Dum deli dum deli-ie... is how it went. Remember it?

Yes and it was much better than this 80's nonsense
