this may sound like a completely irrelivant question but for a car like this one, where would you keep your car's registration? Don't you have to have one on the car at all times? or do you put it behind the seats?
I used to own one and it had a glove box. However in the later versions they are all americanized so they have airbags there instead. However its still a car. For christs sake there will be room for a bunch of papers.
I put 20K miles on this 05 Elise and 10K Miles on my current 08 Exige S240.
The only thing I have EVER put on either were tires.
Daily Driving:
It's all about what you can handle. There's not much storage space. It's semi-low, but my STi was WAY lower (also had a 35R and tons of other crap). The suspension is stiff and you have to deal with being hard to see to other drivers. At the same time, you have to deal with people talking
to you about the car ALL THE TIME. If you're somebody who likes attention, great. However, I frequently just want to drive my car, not be bothered by others... So it's something you have to get used to. I'd ultimately rate it 6/10 for daily driving use.
Celica comparison:
I have driven a stock celica GTS. I have driven a modded supercharged 300WHP celica.
There is NO WAY in hell I would choose the celica over this any day. I've driven both, they're not even slightly similar.
I WILL say this, though. The elise is pretty slow in a straight line. I sold this elise and bought a 2008 Exige S240. After a few light mods it dynoed at 240RWHP. It's still not SUPER fast, but it certainly has a lot more pep. If you're thinking about a lotus, plan on either getting an Exige (they look a lot better in person than the elise, IMHO) OR modding the elise (aftermarket turbo or M62). However, the ECU on the lotus is a motherfucker, so plan on getting an aftermarket ECU too.

I was wondering the same thing...ive done some research and came to numerous conclusions. If your going from a "normal" vehicle with regular standard features (power steering, power side mirrors, power windows, heated and adjustable seats) this car has none of the above except the power mirrors part of a package. I love the car but im trying to figure out if i can live without having any of the things im use to having. Also, the car rides low, so potholes will prolly damage the front fascia.
You definitely hear both sides, what was reccomended to me and also makes sense is to go test drive it. see if you like it. i have a 38 mile round trip to work 5 days a week, with a SAFE spot at work fenced in federal building, and i only see "moderate traffic" two days a week due to my schedule, which remains the same until 2010, and I doubt it will vary much.
Over all i think i could do without the 4 extra seats, space etc etc.
i was considering a Z, G35, mustang GT, etc along those lines.... i like them, but I think this would be so much better, my dream car is a Lamborghini, i feel like this is the next best thing. and i wont have a problem making it my daily driver....... if you can afford to keep a "beater" do so, if not. enjoy it while u can.

Most people don't realize how small the car is until they actually see it, so take a look at it in a dealer before you get your heart set on it. Its similar to a bike in which people in cars have a hard time seeing you in their side mirrors, because the car is so low. Also, the car is designed to be a sports car, meaning shocks are going to be hard and the body is going to be low, which gets very annoying and scary(that you might damage something) when you have to get out of a parking lot.

vc79jn89 u are a real idiot, yes its a celica engine but thats not what a lotus elise is, pls do your homework on what the car is. telling someone to get a used celica is just stupid. there is no comparison in looks, performance etc etc. the only thing is common is the engine

just get a used 2000+ toyota celica gts and supercharge it that way you save more money.Besides it's the same engine as the toyota celica gts only supercharge but you pay more for the name lotus...

The Celica is a 2500lb 2+2 FWD sporty car but the Elisa/Exige are mid-engined 2 seat RWD minimalist sports cars that barely weigh 1 ton.

and yes 48 K is the Base Price on the Lotus Website, but thats for a Soft Top add 1 or 2 grand for a hard top.

This is a really nice car. I was recently planning on purchasing one because they look so nice. Although I was also wondering.. would this be recommended as an everyday driving car? Please reply anyone.. tell me your opinions because I'm certainly not gonna listen to the sales man's lol.

I was wondering the same thing...ive done some research and came to numerous conclusions. If your going from a "normal" vehicle with regular standard features (power steering, power side mirrors, power windows, heated and adjustable seats) this car has none of the above except the power mirrors part of a package. I love the car but im trying to figure out if i can live without having any of the things im use to having. Also, the car rides low, so potholes will prolly damage the front fascia.

You definitely hear both sides, what was reccomended to me and also makes sense is to go test drive it. see if you like it. i have a 38 mile round trip to work 5 days a week, with a SAFE spot at work fenced in federal building, and i only see "moderate traffic" two days a week due to my schedule, which remains the same until 2010, and I doubt it will vary much.
Over all i think i could do without the 4 extra seats, space etc etc.
i was thinking of getting a new car...

i was considering a Z, G35, mustang GT, etc along those lines.... i like them, but I think this would be so much better, my dream car is a Lamborghini, i feel like this is the next best thing. and i wont have a problem making it my daily driver....... if you can afford to keep a "beater" do so, if not. enjoy it while u can.

Most people don't realize how small the car is until they actually see it, so take a look at it in a dealer before you get your heart set on it. Its similar to a bike in which people in cars have a hard time seeing you in their side mirrors, because the car is so low. Also, the car is designed to be a sports car, meaning shocks are going to be hard and the body is going to be low, which gets very annoying and scary(that you might damage something) when you have to get out of a parking lot.
