if you put sticky pistons in the walls that move glowstone than you could have the glowstone hidden when you want spids/creeps/skeles/zombs/etc spawning, but you can expose the glowstone and allow the spawning of slimes

In the 1.2 prerelease there are redstone lamps which you can turn on and off with a lever. So that should work well to turn a spawner on or off.

Yeah, slimes can spawn like crazy in the right areas. I had a branch mine once that I hollowed out when I needed stone. I couldn't go down there afterwards because there would be 16-20 large slimes gathered around the bottom of the ladder.

I used the slime finder and got the room hollowed out, but it ended up being 17x17 instead of 16x16. When subtracting the coords they end up as 16, so I have no clue what to do. the coords are x: 64-80 z: 272-288 and I have those as the inside corners of the spawning room. Should they be the wall?

@SirWafflelizer He is talking about the Chunk's which are 16x16 squares that the game uses to load the game. Use the program in the description to find which chunks can spawn slimes. His slime farm has 3 chunks that spawn slimes that meet at the corners

@Matty6660 make sure the difficulty isnt on peaceful first, next increase the area around the chunk and light it up, sometimes you just need to spend a little time outside of the chunk but stay close enough so that the slimes dont despawn. Also you could try a different chunk, my first one only made small slimes but the second chunk makes a ton of large 3 block slimes

@chezkilla99 each green square is a slime chunk. the numbers around the squares are the coordinates. So what you gotta do is check your ingame coords, look at the coords on the board, and see what coords meet where at the green squares. Then go to those coords in game and dig a 16x16 area, 3 high. Slimes spawn up to level 40 now.
