I don't work for the DOT, so I can't say.. but what I can tell you is, the plastics on the mask portion are so thin, that if this helmet were to be involved in a crash, the pieces would fall of easily, leaving the motorcycle helmet to react as a normal motorcycle helmet

the fact that it looks rugged makes it look all the better. i so want this. quick quedtion: Seeing that it is made out of plastic and you did had to tape/glue it to your helmet, have you ever lost any piece from the helmet while riding? i almost never go past the 70 mph.
