Can someone help me? What is a song with the lyrics "There's no justice in this world today.....", that line repeats probably several times. I know in the beginning of the song she says "start to rediscover".........then eventually, I think she's saying "hold me", maybe "never let me go"......not sure who it is, I used to hear it on retail store overhead around 1993/94
Greaat song - good performance - you gotta love Brenda Rusell - the dancers where not needed here at all - Sadly Brenda Russell's great voice was overshadowed by Donna Summer who covered many of her songs.
Thank you for posting this wonderful video. Now that I have watched it 5 times I think I will move on! Brenda Russel is as beautiful as she is talented. I feel very fortunate to have seen her in concert once.
joe bean esposito is the singer in background, and he aint donna summer`s husband? she is married to bruce sudano (was a band memer of esposito`s) but singer in background is not married ti her
She wrote a lot of hits, Piano in the Dark, Get Here, Dinner with Gershwin, So Good So Right, If Only For One Night. Many songs she sang and many artists have recorded her songs. Some have made the songs more popular than her. She is truely gifted and talented. Also that is Donna Summer's husband who sings the male part on Piano in the Dark. That is why it was nominated for best duo or group with vocals at the Grammy Awards. She can live off of her royalties for writing songs. Thanks.
Every once in awhile an angel falls from heaven and Brenda, specifically in this this song, was just that.....amazing song and AMAZING writing and talent as a vocalist. World class class act and absolutely superb! Love ya Brenda! I'm gonna go see you live one of these days soon finally out here in LA after having listened to you for so many years on 94.7 KTWV.......
Where the hell is she now? When you record one of the beast songs of all time, you deserve to have a long, successful career. What happened? She doesn't deserve to be a one hit wonder!!
she's not a one hit wonder what about so good so right, a house is not a home she wrote these and also produced all her music check out her cd paris rain and she doesn't get the credit or recognition that she deserves.
I bought a ticket to see her at Shoreline Ampitheater, just to hear this song. I sat there until she sang it, then left. It was worth every dime. I did the same thing with the Allman Brothers, Melissa. Would you pay 100.00 dollars to hear one song? I would.
I definitely understand wanting so badly to hear one song, but having a lot of friends I gotta say it's really rude to go for one song and then get up and leave.
Brenda Russell's performance and voice control prove a singer doesn't have to shout if only to deliver a classic melody than can span decades. Brenda shows tone control and absence of unnecessary facial contortions if only to convey that the music is felt. Listening to her music is enough soul-enriching. One thing, the difference between live and recorded tunes can be heard but overall, one can see it is truly brenda and her music
Where is Brenda Russel now? What an artist! American Idol should have her on as a special guest so she can teach the next generation how it should be done.
Dear Record Companies- This is what a real artist looks like. Please take note. People want to hear songs like this that evoke emotion, and have lyrics that take them to special places in their lives. I am a 26 year old guy, and I am sick of all the style over substance. Put out great music like this and I will happily hand you my hard earned money.
Brenda released a CD in 2004 titled Between The Sun, Moon and Stars. There's one track titled The Message that will take you back to Piano In The Dark days. However, the entire CD is all that and then some. I wore the first one out and had to repurchase it. I've only done that for one other artist and that was Prince, so it should let you all know how much I think of Ms. Russell. You won't be disappointed!!
I just met Brenda Russell last Week. I was in NYC visiting went to see broadway show Color Purple very good! This women said she was the composer of the show. I ask are you the Brenda Russell that wrote and sang Piano in the Dark, she smiled and said yes, my friend grab my camera took a picture. I told her I was a fan and love that song, she was so nice and still looks great. The music arrangement in The Color Purple is awesome. Great job Bren!
I love this song, love this singer-who wrote it. Brenda is a true artist. She's still going strong, still writing and making records, and now writing music for Broadway plays (The Color Purple). Go Bren!
This song is how music needs to be! From the heart! I saw this when i was a kid and i STILL can not get it out of my head! Thanks for singing a great song Brenda!
Just watched on utube Mary Wilson sing this song,I know that her + Brenda Russell are best friends. Check out Mary Wilson. love Brenda Russell + Mary Wilson.
This is one of those songs from the 80's that people love, but may not have known who it was...so many 1 hit wonders from those days. What else did she sing?
She had a song back in 1980 (or 1981) called "So Good, So Right", and then from this album, aside from "Piano In The Dark", she recorded "Gravity", the original version of "Get Here" by Oleta Adams, and even a song called "Le Restaurant", which was written by Donna Summers.
i love this song very much,...have a great meaning, good rythm..this is my favorite song although this song is old,and even if im only 17 y.o. i love old song!!!-honrex
Almost one thousand views and favorited twenty-two times, YET no comments whatsoever. Strange, to say the least. I guess people don't want to bother sharing their feelings. Anyways, great song and solid performance. This song is THE definition of adult contemporary soft-rock.
Not many artist can give such a perfect version as the record..she did!
