Ok, Ok...I, too, am against horse slaughter, however; with the law making it illegal in the US to slaughter horses these animals now face long journeys cramped in trailers with no food or water for thousands of miles. Some of them are in bad condition before they even reach the auction and most aren't even strong enough to make the journey. Now, in my state alone (WA) people who can't afford to feed their horses anymore or can't pay for vet care, simply set them loose to starve to death.

Ok, Ok...I, too, am against horse slaughter, however; with the law making it illegal in the US to slaughter horses these animals now face long journeys cramped in trailers with no food or water for thousands of miles. Some of them are in bad condition before they even reach the auction and most aren't even strong enough to make the journey. Now, in my state alone (WA) people who can't afford to feed their horses anymore or can't pay for vet care, simply set them loose to starve to death.

The problem is way deeper.
Back yard breeders need to be controlled people that think it is cute to have baby horses every year with poor blood lines and poor conformation. As soon as hay prices rise they unload horses. I am against inhumane treatment of any animal but the reality is there need to be an outlet for unwanted horses.

Most of the time, the person using the bolt gun doesn't render the animal unconscious with the first hit, leaving the animal partially conscious when it is slaughtered. It's inhumane.

This movie is just not the way a slaughtering should be done. The horses are in panic and so thay can't be stunned properly. The should be calm when they enter the stunning box and then be stunned quick before they realize what's happening

But is it not crueler to let the animals be starved and mistreated since there would be no money or room to keep them fed/housed if all were allowed to live until old age. what some of you don't realize is that even though this is evil it is a necassary evil because there are mass breeders/ bachyard breeders out there that breed horses that no one wants. easiest way to get rid of horses is to sell them at auction yes this is horrible but lets attack all the people out there that breed horses needlessly. the horse population is increasing but there aren't enough people that can support owning a horse. it is expensive especially now with the cost of feed
