  • If only we could learn to to activat that in our brians at any time

  • you dont need a fucking rat to tell you that marijuana makes time feel slower

  • This isn't close to near death.

  • marijuana rat's glazed eyes!! hahaha!

  • ok didnt think this would be the funniest vid id watch tonight , rats rule!

used ta keep them as pets. Clever wee beasts

i want to see saline rat , cocaine rat and marijuana rat living together in a big brother style cage with new activities everyday to test there reactions and intelligence :)

  • LOL cocaine rat!!!

he just wants some of marijuana rats reefer to chill him out :)

  • first experiment i dont like, ive been near to death in a motorbike crash, time doesnt sloww down you just forget everything the moment you feel the bike lose control, its like your body knows whats coming, then you wake up with memory problems with a broken crash helmet on the floor thinking youve just had a crazy dream and your bed was so comfortable you tell the paramedic to let you sleep .

Ok now ive written that im looking forward to a stoned rat ???

  • the rat on marijauna was thinking *fuck, when was i supposed to get the pellet, wait oh shit i thinks it too late...or too early....eh fuck it im high:)*

  • @DarkRebel7575 i searched time goes very slowly when your stoned and found this,

ive been drinking and had a smoke, and the last 1 hour feels like 3 hrs, its crazy i cant explain it , because i wasnt bored or anything :)

  • no but you can go faster

  • what did i learn from this video? do cocaine

  • its a pipboy!!!

  • This is stupid. The brain run faster when stressed, but what has that to do with the eye's capacity for resetting the light sensitive cells for the next input. It would be like a computer having a video data stream of 30 fps. No matter how fast a computer, it will never be able to get data out of the video stream lasting shorter than a frame. That we can't perceive these numbers on screen is not a fault of the brain, but of the eye.

Michio is pop. So biased towards his prefered results. Always.

  • Being quite hypothetical towards time sloing down... Everyone knows ( Well some do any way) That Adrenaline makes our bodies react a lot faster in situations of fear etc its not the actual laws of physics that time ITSELF slows down... If that was the case then take this for example i react when being punched at in 3 seconds but someone else reacts in 1 second... That would mean time slows down for him or her...

  • The narrator kind of sounds like Conor from "The Highlander"

  • I wanna get my hands on that construction to do a leap of faith!

  • This isn't new science but i do agree, time dialation is a trick of the mind it is not a 4rth dimention. it's all about perspective.

  • 1:27 - That's what she said.

  • Time doesn't actually slow down, but our perception of time does when we are in high intensity or life-threatening situations. The digital armband was callobrated on the ground so that the subject couldn't read the numbers at all. The fact that he could make out numbers during his free fall suggests that our brain's mechanism for keeping time changes, which supports claims of people recalling every detail of a quick, traumatic event, such as a car crash.

  • Well technically, he is moving so fast towards earth's gravitational pull, and the earth is ALSO moving. So he is disrupting the horizontal forces by falling so quickly.

  • @engaurd Actually when the mind starts working faster you can analyze the picture you see in more frames and then you have the sense that time runs slower.

  • I just came here to see the rats smoking weed.

  • Comment removed

  • the answer is : adrenaline....or sumthn like that..

  • Lolz, I was lead here by a Celtic punk song XD

  • well i could have told you all that i had time slow down 2 for no reason at all and don't know why . lol

  • Well I could read some of the numbers when fast, so Is this complete bullshit or something?

  • So, your not "slowing down time" your just seeing MORE of what's goimg on.

  • If you think about it adrenaline speeds up or increases all physical and mental processes, so a mental process being record of vision this would increase the frame rate in which your eyes see.

  • @Mauroo13 That actually means cocaine slows your brain since time appears faster, and pot speeds up your brain since time appears slower.

    1-0 Pot smokers!

Anyway the marijuana rat was only slow because he didn't have the munchies. Do the experiment again in 5 minutes and that little pot rat would invent a hook to get the food out so he could eat whenever he fucking wants.

    2-0 Pot smokers

And to all you Saline junkies out there. You better quit the shit and start rolling up! :)

  • this guy would have seen all the numbers perfectly if he were really baked haha

  • TIME IS IN OUR MINDS.

  • Time can be slowed when traveling at light speed, the earth does not regulate time, time is everywhere in the universe

  • time can't slow itself down, something must happen, say the earth rotating backwards would slow time down, even reverse it. the brain is powerful enough to slow it down as well, and also speed it up.

  • @attkmast3r really you think that would happen? if you do...your understanding of the universe is that of a young child

  • @BaLaTrOnB1ZZO thunder is the same as lighting right?

  • I feel so bad for the marajuana rat... he's got the munchies. :(

  • the marijuana mouse probably forgot he had to pull down at 12 seconds

  • @bananinhao

    Dude... I....I..

I just want some fucking food

  • this is so fucking stupid.

  • This is true cause when I was little I was in my school and a lighting stoked a right next to my school and i remember seeing a beam of light in slow motion it felt like 30 seconds then the sounds wave, it was amazing....

  • @colombiak that's because the thunder is faster than sound

  • this is a similar theory to the one i am using in the novel i am writing. The ability to slow and speed up time phycologicly without changing everything in the physical world.

  • @ThePostRockProject

Sounds cool , if you find any ways to do it , drop me a msg :) Or put it in your novel and ill buy it

  • uh no this is a demonstration that when your adrenaline kicks in your brain function speeds up just a scientist trying to make a name for himself with absolutely no grounds for a test at all just making stuff up wow

  • Well time is only a concept anyway. As we are all made of Star dust, there is no reason why we cannot time travel. No scientific evidence yet to prove memory of prediction.

  • Ben 10

  • your brain just works faster in close death situations

  • PSHHHH no joke but i already read the 5 :P

  • this shit is taking forever!

  • Theory: a young person has a fast biological clock (fast metabolism), so externally measured time seems slow (remember as a child that riding a relatively short distance in a car--say 60 miles--seemed to take forever); whereas an older person's clock has slowed down, giving the perception that external time speeds up (the same 60-mile drive seems relatively short to an adult.) So an hour to an infant may be a second to a 200-yr-old man. (Maybe not...)

  • The unconscious can read the numbers.

  • when I get high and make toast I can predict within to 10 seconds when the toast is guna pop

  • poor rats

  • This is fuking stupid the speed of free fall isnt enough to change time It would be way to insignificant. and that rat drug experiment is bull shit the reason they couldnt count to 12 is because their blazed as or pinging not cause time is changeing. There are way beter experiments to explain time than this shit

  • @slutfacejoe

Man you got it wrong , your perception of time changes , not the time itself

  • @jeeaaman Time does change. Its affected by velocity. The faster you go the slower you move through time satellites have to compensate for this because they move so fast the equipment on it would eventually get far out of time with us on earth. Its also afected my how close you are to a lage mass. so sea level or on a mountain. Time isnt like a strait arrow its like a river with fast and slow points and curents It fluctuates all the time haha

  • @slutfacejoe

Interesting and propably true. Its crazy stuff. But the way we perceive it is propably pretty sucky way to measure time anyway. Hard to explain but if you do drugs then the time might actually feel and be slower for you thats my theory :P But its just because it feels that way in your brain.

  • @slutfacejoe The effect is only apparent if there is a difference in velocity between two observers. If you traveling in an inertial frame you can have no idea how fast you're moving without an external reference. We just happen to use our inertial frame as the earth. Time keeping satellites get out of synch not because of their velocity but because there is a difference in velocity between them and us and we see it from our viewpoint. From the satellites view it's us out of synch

  • @salerio61 yea man that sounds prity good to me

  • Since the device was with him, it would have slowed down as well (relativity). What a waste of "time" hehe

  • This is what passes for scientific research during a period of superstition & fear that marks every Dark Age: dropping someone 13 stories with a giant digital watch on his arm. Meanwhile psilocybin (4-phosphoroxyl dimethyltryptamine) an orally active DMT compound found in Nature was made illegal for *scientists & physicians* under the Controlled Substances Act of 1970-71. DMT is released by the pineal gland, peaking during REM sleep (dreaming).

    The Old War continues

  • So if someone does a couple lines when they smoke a joint they should even out and be just fine?

  • So if someone does a couple lines when they smoke a joint the should even out and be just fine?

  • They should've used Psilocybin mushroom, seconds seems to take minutes..

  • I could read that number.

  • Time cannot actually slow down. All the laws of physics applies to all frames of reference. In other words, time for you in a spaceship approaching the speed of light still seems like the time passing by as if you were on Earth. Time in your frame of reference on a spaceship approaching the speed of light slows down RELATIVE to the time on Earth. The keyword is relative. Time is universal in all frames. that's one of the postulates of special relativity.

  • @FallofDarkness55 Well, I imagine you´re aware they're speaking of the adrenaline rush your body gets when you're in a near death experience, and thus you might perceive time going slower, or since your body picks up more information, you might be able to pick up things you normally wouldn't because they're going too fast.

  • @HectorAndresMayoral This isn't bullshit. In fact relativity can be proven via the sun's rays. The light from the sun takes 8 minutes to propagate through space before entering the Earth's upper atmosphere. Light is NOT instantaneous. Newton was wrong. Einstein is correct.

  • @FallofDarkness55 Yes I know, but this video doesn't really have to do anything with relativity, but if not the bodies reaction when it picks up signs of an imminent death.

  • dude I'll be there test subject if they want. Cocaine and marijuana for me please :3

  • you know the pie mei character from kill bill? asian super master. this character has been portrayed many times in other venues/media. My theory is that this character is based on some actual old martial artist from some time in asia, who despite his age was still able to beat many opponents. Possibly through meditation people can learn to tap into this slowmo like in sprider man movie which would be a huge advantage. youd have to be physically fit to move around normally in this slow mo state

  • The thought whether time can be "slow down" is absurd. Time, in my humble opinion, is nothing. What us puny humans perceive as time is is fact nothing but an "aging process". Everything in this Universe is born, then it ages and it ultimately dies, as will the Universe itself. "Time" is the humans' method of measuring how long this aging process takes or transpires. In order to slow down "Time", us humans first need to slow down the aging process.

  • @maqsoodkayani the experiment is determining whether or not your brain can increase the amount of light photons it can process. So if your brain is processing twice as many light particals in a near death experiance "time" is going half the normal speed giving you more time to make decisions and so on. it has nothing to do with the meaning peaople give time its specifically about brain processing capabilities. FYI

  • cokerat: "button!button! gimmie my treat dammit!"

weedrat: "uhhh what's going on? i don't caaaarrrreee..."

  • marijuana brings blood to your brain. hence why your eyes get red. the brain is a muscle. like any muscle, the more blood you pump to a muscle the harder the muscle works. like running, working out, or any exercise. time slows down when your high because you brain is working harder and processing things exponentially faster, hence why you tend to delve into deep thought. Your thought process is faster, and our perception of time is based off how fast we think and act.

  • this is perseption of time not actualy changing time, as an academic source they should be very careful of what they say. typical americans...

  • @Streety101101 That little "BBC" in the upper left corner of the video means the clip, and hence the title, are from a British TV show.

  • What a meta-scientific waste of time. Observation of drugged rats can hardly be taken as a proof to anything and nor can a dude pumped with adrenaline. Besides, it is a commonly known fact that adrenaline increases heart rate and thus brings more oxygen into one's brain, making it slightly 'faster' if you insist on this term.

  • "again?" o.o

  • All of you are idiots. This video has nothing to do with physics...Its all chemistry.

  • This is retarded. Time slowing down is called relativity. He is moving at the same speed as the thing on his arm. It wouldnt matter if he was travelling at 2 mph or 102301023102313213 mph since they are both moving at the same speed ... this is stupid

  • Heres the movie in a nutshell:

Your brain has a "usual" speed of processing time.

If your brain is panicked you enter a state of mind which speeds up the processing time of your brain. Therefore to the person in this state of mind it appears as though time is going slower. i believe that adrenaline causes this state of mind or an alteration in the brain.

  • isn´t that actually one of Einsteins Laws in the theory of Relativity?! So why are they making such a big deal out of it :D

  • Now that's what's wrong with the common perception on Einsteins Theory that is so detrimental to science. It is called "Theory of Relativity". And even Newton would be the first to tell you that he didn't know what gravity was. I'm not going to explain the issues/problems with the equations(character limit) They make such a 'big deal' out of it, because it's important. Our current perception of time, is derived from our consciousness recognizing speed. Council of Nicaea 4 lack of understanding

  • It's the law of relativity all over again!

If you lived your life in this constant state of awarenes then you perception of time would be slower! compared to other people.

So yes time relative to the individual time does slow down.

Conclusion: Yes time does slow down ;)

  • that thing on his arm looks like the predator thing lol

  • This has nothing to do with Einstein or anything LOL it just proves that our brain works faster in some situations!

  • @RavensysteM you're an idiot. Time has everything to do with Einstein.

  • when I take a piss. time seems to slow down

  • glitch in the matrix xD

  • I don't understand something. How can the falling guy see the device work slower if hes moving with it?. As far as i know the device would only appear to be working slower if viewed from a stationary view point.

  • @CasanovaSessions I think you may be confusing this with the relativity theory? This is about how fast our brain perceives things under the influence of different chemicals, it has nothing to do with the laws of physics.

  • animal crulity

  • @Ichigo1402

Free drugs WTF are you talking about?

  • hey scientists! how about producing a very similar/identical clocks, and you gotta throw the other with a 1500 m/s or more for about a minute or two! circularly! that demonstration is so complicated!!! ((1500m/s fastest bullet))

  • that's how spiderman slow down time...,he smokes too much of marijuana...xD

  • Who considered this guy a psychologist? I think you have to know something about the way the brain works before gaining that title.

  • why do my every idea have to be interesting.ok ill say that first this time .our perceptions arent complete.example weed fulls the spaces among perceptions but its not still complete.u cant think better when smoking weed but u can think more thing in a unit time.this dont make u smarter because inteligence is more about feelings i guess.and musical ability is about thinking fast.ok SCİENCE WORLD do research about ideas which i can explain my broken english.u ll see they re true

  • pretty significant results since he saw the numbers before falling....

  • LOL cocaine rat!!

  • Black holes slow down time, but the ones near a black hole wouldn't notice it. Only an outside observer. Because time slows down, that also means your reactions and brain functions slow down. So from your own perspective time would appear to go at a normal speed while for an outside observer it may appear to be MUCH slower.

  • @ApocDevTeam Absolutely right!

  • Can time slow down?

    Can frequency decrease?

  • How unscientific for the experimenter to say "I wish he could have seen both numbers". Is he interested in the truth or in finding evidence for what he already believes?

Also, while the phenomenon may be genuine, it is doubtful that evidence can be obtained ethically since the subject likely has to believe he or she is in mortal danger, which is difficult to do achieve when they are above a huge safety net.

  • @UrineCredible of course he wish that one can slow down town with ones brain, who don't?

  • @UrineCredible damn stop showing off say "How can he be scared if hes over a safety net" anyone can be smart like that.

  • this is such a stupid experiment

  • "and then the test subject died from an overload of adrenaline"

  • mr manleys right and time is just a common theory measured by our brains. without a single watch in d world u wouldnt know the time right.oh and fact weed works as a time freezer..i know i skateboard while blazed and its handy as well as a trip

  • does this mean if you use cocaine and read a book, you can read it a hudred times faster than normal?

does cocaine make you a genius? think about brain storming?

  • i think it could first time i smoked weed :P plus near death situation

  • to know for sure, they should do this experiment with 2 synchronized atomic clocks. one on the ground, another falling towards earth. i bet its different, and i have a feeling it has something to do with gravity XD

  • To anyone who thinks this experiment has anything to do with special relativity: it doesn't. If the clock is moving the same speed relative to the person then there is no measurement of relativity involved. However, this may be a test of how the human brain/body reacts to adrenaline, fear, or other influences on eyes, brain, or body that effect one's ability to visualize faster.

  • ok here's a suggestion:

If time would slow down, wouldn't the speed of your brain slow down too.

At the same rate of slowing down the numbers?

That's why I'm not buying this....

The adrenalin rush you get from falling 12 stories just makes your brain process

more impulses sent from your eyes.

This test is very inacurate... Nice stunt tho!

  • @gijsoerlemans1992 This isn't about objective time slowing down, though. The headline is just dumb journalists being dumb. The idea is that when a lot of adrenaline is released into your system, your brain thinks faster, and therefore time slows down *for you*. (Sorry about responding to your comment so long after you wrote it, you've probably lost interest by now, but it makes me want to explain when so many people haven't understood the concept. (: )

  • The Number at the start which he can't see if 58. How do I know, have you seen the movie wanted? I suffered from anxiety attacks. I learnt how to control them with out medication. Impossible you say, research ancient chinese methods on how to control your brain. People use their brains at different percentages. Einstien used 2%, while a retarded person would use 30%, I know the secrets, I have had testing, also i am only 14 and 7"2, can you explain that?

  • This isnt about slowing down time...this is about speeding your brain up.

  • @Mauroo13 exaclty!

  • @Mauroo13 time is an imaginary grid that the mind created, by if we go with your theory then its still relevant as you mentioned the brain speed, and if an object moves fast enough time is mallable.

  • @Mauroo13 Exactly. If these people were actually experiencing time dilation, their watches would actually slow down.

  • @Mauroo13 aparently, some people are too stupid to understand such simple things, and rather waste a lot of money making "experiments" like these :\

  • @Mauroo13 Actually, when you go closer or farther from a gravitational source, earth in this case time does change but impercievably small and detectable only by extremely precise atomic clocks. This is because of the way that space and time are closely intertwined. This was also observed by nasa when an astronaut returned from an extended period in space, They calculated that he was a few seconds older (or younger I can't remember) Due to the lowered gravitational force.

  • u just need some mushrooms and it work way bether ;)

  • Does the spliffed up rat just not bother to press the button ?

In all seriousness I did a controlled experiment with driving @ 30mph, 1 with the speedo, 1 without and 1 without and stoned, when stoned it took 45 seconds longer to drive a mile round a track as everything seemed as it was wizzing by but just without the speedo it was within 3 seconds

  • can i try the freefall somewhere?

  • Time isn't slowing down. This has nothing to do with time dilation. First off this experiment is bs. Second, if an actual experiment yielded the same result, it would likely just mean that the brain is speeding, not time slowing down.

  • @xTheBoondockSaint whoa, calm down mister know it all. He clearly stated that is wasn't time slowing down or speeding up. He suggested the theory that maybe our brains give us the ability to make it seem as though we are slowing down or speeding up time, processing information faster or slower. In a sense it could be called slowing down or speeding up time.

  • "First ever" !!! There has been REAL experiments that proof Time Dilation. THIS "experiment" is bullshit!

  • @artiriti yup this just measures that the mind can eb more concentrated when falling to its death.

  • This is BULLSHIT. This is not a real experiment!!!

  • Lucky rats.

  • I DO COCAINE.

  • omg. when i die........ im comin back as a lab rat for these guys

  • It would be funny if it came off and broke!

  • The experimentation is totally flawed. Time dilation occurs for all objects in motion. Time slows down for the perceptual whatever-ator but it always slows down for the guy falling also. Therefore he is still thinking at a slower rate that is directly proportional to the rate at which the numbers are flashing. To us (the bystanders) (relative to our own time)the guy is thinking slower and the numbers are displaying slower. To him time is occuring at the same rate, both for himself and the device

  • @craigforsure i am with u bro, this is a clever point and as far as i know it si complety rite.. Leonard Susskind explain it well in his books

  • This has nothing to do with time!, It is only the human brain at work. Our brain receives images from the eyes at a speed of 60 fps. When adrenaline is released in the body, the amount of fps increases drastically, which leads to the ILLUSION of "time slowing down"

  • The perceptual ..what? You mean Interocitor, right ?

  • I don't understand how this experiment proves anything about time. It just looks like they're testing brains.

  • Whoa.

  • hows he meant to see it while falling at 70mph.

  • When I saw it flashing I though the same number as he said.. "56" it's not tile slowing down, you can almost see it..

  • isn't time only slowed down to a noticeable degree at extreme speed, like the speed of light.

  • QUestion

Is time actually slowing down, or is that guy's brain in complete shock that it can't take in information as quickly, so it visually takes in one or two freeze frames consciously.

I'm guessing the latter. Don't get what the drugged rats have to do with time travel...seems to prove the opposite - ALL IN THE HEAD

  • @psynema No its adrenaline, his brain is reacting faster

  • i say give that dude some cocaine and then see if he sees the time or just give him an Epinephrine shot straight to the heart or better yet the brain............maybe not the brain, im NOT a doctor, I just play one on tv lol

  • I don't think it's possible to slow down the time.

  • @ThomasAtem but you can speed up brain

  • @ThomasAtem : Yes, u can slow down the time.... it's call a time dilation (Also Time Travel)... 2 way.... First, u hit the light speed. Second, u stay beside a fuckin' big mass like a Black Hole!

  • @ThomasAtem In some cases, the clocks in the satellites orbiting the earth have their clocks lagging few minutes over the months time period, when compared to the clocks on earth. Lagging clock compensation is provided in the satellites to avoid this drift.

  • Man does this get me thinking, great video.

  • /watch?v=sHzdsFiBbFc

  • This made me think about marijuana spider who built a hammock XD and became crack spider's bitch. HAHA

  • and thats why I like marijuana. it mellows you out. This is pretty awesome. I knew time was relative before this but watching this really allows me to get the idea.

  • Man i wanna try liquid marijuana can you make me some brownies?????

  • This only works because the human body, when in danger, becomes very agile and all senses are heightened, adrenaline rushes. This helps us fleet, find critical clues and save ourselves.

Calling this "time slowing down" is just uneducated. A second remains a second.

Surely other more relevant experiments exist. Use scientific formulas people, not your own impressions.

  • fuckin jurks with this fuckin mouse experients. ok for the first test, but with the mouse test... of course they dont do it at 12 sec, they r fuckin high, with mariuana u r like more slow bue the time dont slow done.. and for the cocaine u speed up. but dont do it with fuckin mouses, if you want to really now do it with an human

  • @dorianhacks either way, the point is time is relative.

  • This is the reason why scientist like to experiment on humans..

  • It has been known for a long time that either with great speed, time will slow down, or the higher up in a gravitational field u are, time will speed up and vis versa. however the time travel experienced here will probably be a billionth of a nano second, it needs to work on a larger scale for it to take proper effect.

  • If this indicates anything it'd be the reverse of what the video says. From the rats perspective, time is 'zipping by' for the marijuhana rat and has slowed for the cocain rat.

  • how to make a friend...

    1. Knock her/him out (preferably with a baseball bat).

    2. Drag the body to your basement

    3. Tie her/him to a chair

    4. When she/he wakes up, you can have a meal together. It eliminates any chance of rejection. When it's all over you two will look back and laugh at all of it.

  • ...i live in eastern europe and i can tell you that rats on cocaine are hard to catch...

  • times not slowing down stupid

  • taste it on yourself you sick fuk

  • wait what does rats and drugs have to do with time travel?

  • @guitarmanbadass time travel?? this is not about it.

  • hahah, i gotta get my hands on some of that Liquid Marijauna..
