  • kkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk mto bom!! sobe quantos metros??

  • 18 people's chimneys were clogged and didn't have this

  • @thespy1 Haha totally right! Fortunately 226 chimneys weren't clogged !

  • You should add a claw to it and make a robot you can put inside one of those arcade machines and climb up the prize shoot to knock down free prizes = )

  • luv it!!!

  • bad idea cuz the ntx can falll and break but great job!

  • @Thebatkinz , Yeah, forgot the disclaimer in this vid, but here you go "No NXTs were harmed during the making of this video."

  • put a camera on it,

    ULTAMATE SPY CAM

  • i only see 2 motors? how does it change the gearing there???

  • @Dragonicafan

it walks on the ground first

  • So that's how Santa gets down the chimney

  • NXT WILL TAK OVER TEH WORLD!!!!!!!

    O_O

  • santa's little helper :D

  • we can break a bank with lego :))

  • spiderman.....legostyle ;)

  • you sure that it cant annoy your neghbors?

  • robo santa

  • you should invest in a vex kit if you have kid and they are into that kind of stuff and they are in high school it is really nice and you can do way more that the mind storm and nxt kits

  • what is the speed did u gear up or gear down?

  • was this in a kit or did u just think it up?

    that was awesome

    check my vids

  • best 13 seconds of my life!!!

  • @born2shopmama Thats Just Sad

  • very nice....

  • I really wouldn't like to see that thing failing :(

  • that would be one sweet toy for a spie

  • need a gyro

its gonna fall on one side

  • Nice

  • Dude, you could use that as a spy robot. Place a video camera on the third motor on top of the NXT Brick so it can rotate. and control it with bluetooth!

  • @haikmen I wanna spy on MY chimney too! :P

  • cool!

  • nice!!! how did u do that?

  • You should add the ultrasonic sensor.

That way, it can stop if it it's, say, 2 inches away from something above it. Then make it play a sound. Then wait 2 seconds. Then drive back again.

  • @thaibert2,

Mmm, --should-- I do that? You know, you should view the vid of the another chimney climber that I built, which has exactly the specifications that you mention. :-)

  • @Laurens200 make a claw a=on the bottom hooked up to a motor that extends it down to the floor say ten foot lengh and then it can push itself up on the top of the dressor u used message me ur email i will draw a diagram if this isnt clear

  • @thaibert2 Or it could prevent itself from driving into the roof...just sayin..

  • Pretty simple, i can see how it works...

  • nice :D

  • wow!!! AWESOME!

  • cool!!!!

  • i want instructions! please send me some!

  • thats amazing

    gimi instructions!!!

  • i envy you :)

  • that could help santa LOL

  • that goes the speed of light compared to the 1st one!

  • pls mail me on instructions 4 thgis

  • ossimly cool

  • wow thats faster i hope i get one my self

  • it starts to go down........... but other than that great job

  • is in this nxt 2.0 kit a soundsensor resolved?

  • way faster than the 1st

  • Santa The robot

  • ][_, {[]} ][_, !!!!!!!

  • LOL

  • lol someones wall isn't level.

    pretty slick though.

  • When it comes out of battery "Uh-Oh" BANG!!!! Lol you can't see how funny my Imagination is

  • u r s is way faster

  • santa isn't the only 1 who can climb up a chimney

  • time for some graffiti in your neighbors chimney!

  • awesome!!!!!

  • this is way faster than the old one

  • you only can put 3 motors

  • that one's so much faster!

  • u can realy see the differance in speed of the other old climber

  • sweet lol. btw is there a way to attach more than 3 motors to a NXT brick?

  • good work !!!

  • u can get drinks from the bottom flor lol

  • you also could send a drink to Santa!

  • no need for santa to come down. just send that up and all your presents will come hassle-free

  • nice

  • give it some paint and let it paint your walls... XD that would be easy!

  • You could use your robot in a movie or something : >>>

    Good Job !

  • omg i just realized, you could put one of those in a claw machine, and win big!!!!

  • much faster than the old one, good job

  • exactly what i was gonna say

  • Me 2

  • add a brush and you can make some money!!!^_^

  • Whatever you say boss

  • lol.

  • pretty cool!

  • That's clearly fast forward.

  • that's a lot faster than the rcx version!

  • I'm going to get Lego NXT for Chirstmas! I can't wait!

  • Can't it fall?

  • ik zou er wat onder leggen xD

  • Thats amazingly fast. Perfect chimney climber

  • a brilliant concept for an automatic lego elavator/lift

  • dude that is classic

  • now thats cool!!!!!

  • does it contain parts to build with or is it only the motors and transponder thingy??? and can one motor go reverse and forward or do you need 2 for that plz answer

and btw is the nxt motors strong???

  • The NXT motors are the most strongest lego motors.

THe strongest motor in the XL motor.

  • you should add a random duster then it would be so cool

look nice, and clean you chimbney xD

  • als ik jou was zou ikn er een kussen ofzo onder leggen voor als ie valt

  • very good!! =]

  • Are you Laurens Valk in that one NXT book that I have? If so, COOL!

  • yes he is :p , hes a friend of mine in rl

  • Rofl.

  • you could make a fourtune as a chimney sweeper

  • lol!!!!!

  • That was fast indeed. I've got the old Mindstorms, and after watching quite a few impressing videos of the NXT, I want one badly. How are the new engines compared to the old ones? Are they a lot stronger/faster?

  • The NXT is defenitely worth buying :)Regarding motors, someone has put up some detailed information about the NXT motors. Search for 'philo motor comparison' using google. For me it is the first hit. Also, be sure to click on the '9V motors comparison page' link.

  • Much faster then OMGlego's RCX version of the chimney climber

  • >Much faster then OMGlego's RCX

    >version of the chimney climber

Sigh, that is my version, too. This guy stole my video. Too bad we can't do anything about it. Be sure to check out the original one, via my youtube profile.

  • oh, im sorry to hear

  • You can always "Flag" the that copy.

  • this is realy cool

  • santa IS real!!!

  • That's one mighty fine chimney-climber!

I have one issue though... It looks a bit unstable. What if the wheels on one of the side slip a bit? The whole thing will tilt sideways. What I'm thinking is making 2 modules for each side, that have several wheels in 2-3 rows and columns - think a contact surface, instead of your contact line. After that, it's the same mechanism as you used. It should be more stable, albeight much heavier.

  • Viktor,

Some time ago, I bought a tilt sensor for Mindstorms. The problems caused by slipping could be eliminated this way since it can adjust speed on one side to maintain balance.

To maintain balance in the other axis, I need another set of two motors. This is slightly harder since one NXT can handle just three motors.

I've been thinking to design another climber (#3) and implement this. It would also help to put the main weight below the wheels. Though then starting would be hard.

  • The problem with implementing a tilt compensation is that the construction may eventually start oscillating. I don't know the mechanism of the tilt sensor, but I do have a suspision that with a certain dynamic situation, the sensor might go out of control. I'd imagine the sensor to be useful in controlling certain contraptions, but a situation like yours leaves just too little room for error.

  • That could be right, you could however stop the motors and do a measurement. I've tested it with this one some time ago, and it does not fall down when it is not moving.

This actually requires programming, unlike the two other climbers made so far.

  • uh oh! santa got stuck in the chimney! but wait! a robot comes to save him! 100000/2 stars! (thats GOOD)

  • wow u got great idea

  • send up a brrom and itll do the "dirty" work for ya

  • Oooh! Much nicer than the old one! Too bad you can't put silencers on the motors... BTW, is it smaller than the old one, or is it just the angle?

You know what would be cool- if you made a whole track for it. one that turns and stuff. Just an idea...

  • Hey, thanks for your comment :). It is not much smaller, maybe a couple of centimeters.

About the track, maybe you *could* achieve this, but don't forget that one side has to turn faster than the other. So the robot has to know where it is going to in order to change speed in the wheels. Maybe the next version, this would require some sensors :)

  • Sounds like a plan. I do like sensors...

  • you know instead of sensors for the "climber" you could just put an infrared on top of each of the wheels. then you could put different colored lines on each of the turns, so that you could put the track in itself as one color, the left turn color as black, and the right turn color as white. that way you could just tell one motor to speed up or slow down, depending on which side the color was on. if that was what you meant by sensors, sorry for taking up so much room... :)

  • Or, mount an acceleration sensor on it (which I have, so I could try it, maybe someday :-) )Then it could detect it's relative angle to the ground/ complete balance. It could adjust speed in the motors to achieve balance...
