This is so sad. There are so many side effecta of Premarin and if women new that it causes liver damage and other side effects and saw a video of HOW abusive this is, they should not take it. There are alternatives. Shame on the doctors for still prescribing this crap!!

This problem stems from mindset...Horses are companion animals and NOT livestock as so many prefer to think of them. Until that fact is faced and until commercial breeding of any animal comes to a halt there will be all kinds of ways to sell the misfortune of these good hearted critters.

No PMU facilites are still very numerous in Canada even though it has been found that the HRT for women from this has been found to cause....BREAST CANCER!
I'm sure this is still practiced some places, but I know its dying down...Scientists have started to find Premarin in some plants that they can substitute into the pills instead of taking it from the pregnant mares...
There is no end or solution to horses being slaughtered. But we need to be thankful that alot of progress has been made to stop it, and many horses have been given happy homes...
Excuse me but these horses are not cared for they are USED. The foals are ripped away from their mothers and the mares are stuck in the "pee" barn again. I rescued a horse from a former PMU farm, a colt destined for the table just so women can feel better? Seriously, now this farmer just raises horses because he doesn't stick them in the barn anymore. I'm convinced he over breeds for the sack of the dinner table.

Just wanted to add this I do know what a hot flash feels like because a year before my hysterectomy I went through a chemically induced menopause do to endometriosis and it was awful,but after I had surgery I and quit the HRT within two weeks I have never experienced hot flashes or mood swings since.Not one since 1994.Yes I know my body best.
Had a hysterectomy back in 1995 did the patch thing for about two weeks.I absolutely hated the dam things.Dr kept insisting I needed them I told him I thought knew my body better than he did and he wasn't God.Haven't needed anything in ever since.This was before I knew about Premarin now I am glad I never did.I love horses!
@sssalasmusic Oh they can do that, but just like they do with food, they will just give you the scientific name rather than lay it bare and say, this is horse piss. Not only that but they won't tell you that there are alternatives to this drug, a synthetic, and a veggie based one that can phase out this method of torture.

This whole story is TRUE AND FACTUAL. The fact, as of today's economy, is that even the horses that are sound, broke and and were once even sold as "Professionally Trained" and perfectly good horses ARE going to slaughter. No "killer buyer" separates these horses from the ones that aren't fit to be used as riding horses from the ones PEOPLE have created as un-rideable. There is really no market for horses to be sold as they used to be, thus, they end up at slaughter too. It's HORRIBLE!
@marti91257 that is true but I think that the Premarin babies as well as the Mustang babies will not have had any vetting at all and so are prime canditates for shipping live to Japan to be eaten. Its horrible !
