@olapessoal100 When a tank is dropped via parachute it is vulnerable until it can touch the ground and deploy. Under normal circumstances a sniper would be powerless against an armored vehicle however, since that vehicles arrival and safe travel to the ground is based off 3 parachutes its immensely delicate. If a sniper took put a few holes in those chutes the pressure and wind resistance would tear them and leave a 60 ton metal deathcage to free fall 1000m to the earth. Thats my point.

actually the US military CAN drop a very light tank for use with paratroopers. It is purely antipersonel though, it is a decent support platform too. Really short barrel though

most countries with capability to operate over, say 3000km(~1880something miles), usually have some means to drop light vehicles.

USA obviously exels at this just because it has the support structure. but when it comes to tanks some sort of T-60+ variant would be quite optimal because the Soviet gear weights roughly 20 tonnes less than the Leopard 2 or almost 30 tonnes less than Abrams.

how ever, any attachments like reactive armors etc wouldn't probably happen in real life.. very nice trailer.

Nah, the short barreled one would be the old Sheridan. That one's been phased out by now. And frankly, it never worked quite a sadvertised, the thing had lots of problems.

There's still some nice light armor that's air-droppable around, like the soviet BMD. The Germans took it one step farther with their Wiesel tankette. Carries either a 20mm or 30mm autocannon or an ATGM launhcer with several reloads. And the bugger is so small, you can load two of them into a transport helicopter.

It could be theoretically possible to airdrop full-size tanks but you'd need retrorockets, huge chutes and airbags to make it work.

Hell yeah... russia is the only country that has developed a way to deploy armor along with the crew so that tanks could engage in to battle right away... during the cold war this project was called "Minotaurus". First drops were very dangerous... crew were getting broken spines and ripped internal organs sometimes...

No army was ever able to paradrop main battle tanks into battlefield, it is pure fiction.

Heaviest airborne tank that can be deployed to battlefield with parachutes are "locust" and Sheridan. Soviets have BMDs and ASUs, but first one is just a skinny IFV that can be easily destroyed and ASU is just an airborne self-propelled gun that is too weak against modern armour.
