Naw, you ain't heard this in no 83-84. You had to hear this in 1986 because it was on blast from then on! Became the Alma Mater! In fact the college radio station ended nightly broadcast with this for many months, which at the time, went off at midnight.Rocked the Bayou Classic and became the platform for who we Yay all know and love E40. But for me....Waldo Benzworth is the one I still got the fly for...no doubt!
I was still on campus in 86 so that could very well be. However, just because someone was in high school in 83/84 does not mean they didn't participate in a talent show on the yard then. There were MANY who were in high school performing in Gramb's talent shows. Were you on the yard in 83-84?
I knew you'd figure it out...I was there at that time not the spring 1986, but Fall 1986. In fact, I was third place in the exact same talent show. So, you see... I had a lil inside knowledge. And yes, highschoolers did participate in talent shows, but not from Vallejo/Oakland California...We were all freshman that year. Waldo graduated from Grambling. E40 and BLegit went on to pursue a career in rap...and so the leagacy began!
Damn old school E-40

I'm certain I first heard this at a talent show at Grambling in 1983 or 1984. The whole audience was singing the hook.
