This DimWitt Demint does not know a thing about Latin American history!! Period. The Constitution Honduras has was written by the tiny elite Oligarchy that controls Honduras. They have done nothing for the country but maintained it in abject poverty. Zelaya was pushing for a 60% increase in the minimum wage that would have cut into the profits of two US companies Chiquita International and Dole Food Corp. This is the real reason why they took him out by force.

As a Honduran citizen and liberal democrat; I just CAN NOT believe that the republicans of the US are the ones actually getting things right and supporting our ouster of ex-president Zelaya. It astounds me and mesmerizes me. Its sad to see such a great nation being led by such an unintelligent cabinet as the Obama administration: hopefully the democrats will do a better job the next time around in nominating someone with higher and levelheaded reasoning capabilities.
Thank you Senator DeMint! You are saying things that many true patriotic Americans believe in. I was shocked, but not surprised, at how this administration supported Zelaya. I thank God for you and look forward to you possibly running for president of our Great Nation- the U.S.A. in 2012. Keep up the excellent work! It is men such as yourself that make our nation great. I am proud to know that democratic ideals will continue to prevail because good men like yourself speak words of truth n wisdom
DEMINT only speaks what the right wing republicans wan to hear to gustily the coup, and keep on trying to install military dictators on hour Poor nations to manipulate them economically and politicaly. Selaya was only trying to (expand) the constitution NOT change it. He was trying to NOT re elected him self like michelleti and some republicans are proclaiming, but he was trying to incorporate the people's decisions about certain political matters like a true democracy should do.
I am on lifetime Democrat however I couldnt agree more with Senator DeMint. He speaks on the facts of the situation and also raises the question on why Obama is siding with countries that have been sworn enemies of everthing we stand for.
Honduras has taken on the world at great peril to themselves so that they could defend their Constitution against an attempt by Chavez, Ortega, and Castro to elevate their puppet Zelaya to unlimited power.... a violation of the Honduran Constitution!
1) As an American, as a lover of our CONSTITUTIONAL REPUBLIC, I am dismayed at the response of our present Leader. Despite the fact that Mr. Obama is supporting Chavez, I have all Faith that the Honduran People will endeavor to fight for what is right.
It seems as though we are both struggling for the rule of law. Our main problem: 2 many laws. My neighbor, originally from Argentina, reminded me: "We only have 2 last 4 yrs." For me, I am despising all politicrats.
2) "setamsa" commented, "what we have?" My Dear Honduran Friend, you have a Beautiful Nation. Full of honest, hard working, and God Fearing people.
Many of the comments gave me a great hope that Peace will come to your region of the world. I am sick of all the heartache that Central America has seen over the last 30yrs.
3) I know HClinton from way back. "Naive" is not an appropriate word to use in connection w/ this lying, calculating, egomaniac. She barely escaped disbarment in 1972. Same tricks, different days. Very dangerous back in the days when I worked 4 the Fed. Every single time she opened her mouth we suffered.
Not everyone believes the lies. Honest Freedom loving Americans are keeping you in their Prayers. adios!
As a Honduran, Im glad to see that reason and dialogue are still the options preferred by some, and that due diligence and careful examination of the facts are the only realistic means to profess any type of judgement on matters that occur on distant regions. Once the facts of what transpired in my country are finally filtered unbiased throughout the international community, I believe that the overall outcome of this situation will be understandable even with the mistakes made during transition.
Even though I am a lifelong democrat, I have to say that I'm glad that someone finally said this. This man has the public support of Hugo Chavez and Cristina Kirchner, who respectively have supported Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and Fidel Castro respectively. I wish I could personally thank Senator DeMint.
I am happy to see the events explained fully. At face value, a sudden succession in power like the one in Honduras smells funny. However, once one takes the time to examine the facts, it becomes evident that what happened is infinitely better than the alternative. I am excited about the elections in November and the swearing in of a new President of Honduras in January.
I wish that Pres. Obama's and Ms. Clinton's positions were different, but I hardly feel that attacking them should be a focus.
God Bless you Senator DeMint.... I live in HOnduras and is good to know that some people in USA knows the facts... and no some lies that Zelaya is telling everyone. Even Obama needs to know our Laws our Constitution so he will know that he is stand up for a Criminal as is zelaya..THANK
Thank you Senator! we apreciate that you are speaking up for democracy and the truth!! May GOD and history be the judge of others that don't speak up for justice because they are as guilty as the dictador!

Honduran protesters and journalists are getting detained, beaten up, and killed, where is the republican outrage? That's right - nowhere, because all they care is to have as many right-wing governments around the world as possible, no matter the cost or methods by which that could be achieved. They profess their respect to the Honduran constitution, but where DOES it say that you can use military as an arbiter in the political process? Hypocritical conservative white wash, and that's about it.
The military was just enforcing the law, dude. And it has nothing to do with 'right-wing' governments. I don't care where you are on the political spectrum. If you break the law and violate the constitution, you deserve to be removed from office. Plain and simple.
And the method by which he was removed is permitted by the Honduran constitution and was ordered by the supreme court of Honduras.
You are getting all the facts wong. This is not about right wing or left wings fighting for power. Michelletti is from Zelaya's OWN PARTY. And where did you get the crazy idea that journalists are being detained, beaten up and killed? Are you mistaking Honduras with Venezuela??? Yes, there was one protester killed and this is precisely the sort of violence the government has being trying to avoid by exiling Mr. Zelaya the day of the so-called "COUP".

get ready hondurans, you need a president that is for the people. liberalism is a disease and it'll be supported 10times by marxist and interest groups.
You need to speak out to support a candidate this is for you. I personally like the Attorney General Luis and General Basquez.
Allow me to apologize for obama and his administration.
Excellent thorough presentation. The media has this completely wrong. Hopefully, through this and others speaking out, the world will know the real story. Mr. President you are terribly wrong to side with Chavez on this. The unintended consequences of your lack of thought on this is not to be ignored and will effect all of us.
Thank you for getting all the information and taking the time to find out what is happening and has lead to these events. For seeing that we have stood up to save our country from being used as a pawn in the Marxist game of Chavez.
Senator DeMint, My congratulations for your courage to stand up for the truth. You have all my respect for reading and understanding our constitution, for hearing the other side of the story and making a fair judgment, unlike others whom I had considered intellectual authorities and now have sided with lethal dictators disappointing an entire nation and all freedom lovers. From now on you are on my prayers, God bless you, your family and everything you do. Hondurans love you.
we love you!!!!! thank you for really understanding us, and supporting us in our battle against real tyrants like Mel Zelaya and Hugo Chavez. and again thank you for letting us show how we are the little country that stood - HONDURAS
I have a Channel Play List of videos from Honduras that show the true expressions of the people of Honduras. This is what the media does not want Americans to see- the shame that the US government is not on the side of the Honduras people. Please share this Channel to overcome the media blackout. Just click my name for the channel.
May all hispanics see who is REALLY on their side!! Look and see who really cares about the well being of hispanics! Conservatism instinctively fights for liberty anywhere in the world unlike American liberalism.
thanks Mr Demint For listenig to us! we are poor , small country but we are proud of been honduran! and chavez right now is moving his puppet (zelaya?) to CR .... WE DONT WANT HIM HERE IN HONDURAS NO MORE!!! HE SOLD US TO CHAVEZ.....and he has OIL... what we have????
(3) conclusions and/or recommendations on the estate of the Latin democracies is biased to the left because of his previous political affiliations. And, until the OAS stops supporting Communist dictatorships the USA should stop funding it. Or, rather put that money in another institution that could be created to represent all nations of the western hemisphere including the North and let the lefties led by Chavez have their own institutional set up.
(2) do the same in their countries. In addition, the OAS has said absolutely nothing on these issues. This is basically because the Secretary General of the OAS is a leftist academician who in the sixties and seventies was an admirer of Fidel Castro and his revolution. Additionally he worked with Allende (a KGB agent while President of Chile) in his failed state government of the seventies. Insulza is a Secretary General of the OAS that should resign because his policy
(1) Congratulations to GOP Senator DeMint for his outspoken views and his well balanced and correct focus on the Honduran situation. Zelaya was kicked out because he violated the Constitution on several occasions with a view to staying in power for succeeding terms following the example of his teacher: Communist Dictator Chavez who dismantled democratic institutions in Venezuela and has taught his friends (Zelaya, Correa, Morales, Ortega) to eventually
Senator DeMint, your speech has brought tears into my eyes. As a Honduran resident, I thank you for speaking the truth in our behalf. Now that Zelaya is gone from power, it is a relief for us not waking every morning thinking "what will this lunatic (Zelaya) come up with today?". May God bless you!!
(2) Presidential Office until January 27, 2010 (Ha, Ha, Ha..). This kind of thinking is naive indeed and as a result there could be a bloodbath in Honduras. Mrs. Clinton is off in Luny Land. To be totally frank, it appears to me that Mrs. Clinton should declare herself incompetent to hold the post of Secretary of State in Obamás government and simply RESIGN or be kicked out by the US Senate. Billýs handling of the Lewinsky affair really screwed up her silly little mind.
(1) Senator DeMint, R SC, deserves to be fully supported. It is sad that Obama & his Secretary of State sided with a commie such as Zelaya to defend so called democracy in that country. Naive Mrs. Clinton went as far as having a meeting with Zelaya and arranging a meeting with Nobel Peace Prize winner, and President of Costa Rica, Oscar Arias. Again, naive and immature Mrs. Clinton wants that the Congress grant an amnesty to Zelaya so that he can go back to his country and again assume
Thank you! You are a breath of fresh air amidst the black smoke spilled on us by the international community. To the world, Honduras is small and "insignificant", but had the courage
to rebel against forces way beyond its own. A modern "David"... maybe this is too much for the world´s pride to swallow and start finding new ways to defend democracy as is being attacked now.. Don´t kill "life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness" in the name of democracy. PLEASE SPREAD THE WORD!
Do you feel it? Little by little, everybody is realizing the truth. The world knows, and your barking is not making a difference. Say what you want, but you know I'm right. This is hilarious!
senator Demint, we can't thank you enough for your efforts on showing the truth to the rest of teh world. Democracy is taking a big hit by Chavez and we can let one of the biggest powers in the world like the US, approve or simply look the other way around, We need your support. Thanks
Thank you Mr. Demint. You are so clear about our situation here in Honduras. If only Mrs. Clinton would take her time to even take a quick glance at all the facts and legal aspects you have mentioned. You give me hope again to believe in the USA as a great nation.
Thank you Senator DeMint. You have bothered to figure out what our state department is too lazy to discover. You give me hope that not everyone in Washington DC has gone mad.

How do guys expect Obama to defend Goriletti and his bunch of rednecks? Any decant human can see that it's a mob. At least give the man a chance, if you are going to make a coup, use people with a bit more wits...
You guys don't realize what the entire planet already has noticed? Let me tell you a big truth; this are the last breathes from the hondurian oligarchy.
Finally the Honduran people got rid of you, BASURA!
How the hell could a coup d'ete be conducted by the Supreme Court, all branches of military and the Pres.'s own party?? DeMint is right. I've spent the last 4 days searching for the truth of this story. The Constitution that Honduras is upholding is unbelievable one of the oldest they've had (27 yrs.) because time and again power had been stolen using tactics like Chavez did and Zelaya wished to. Hell the footage of him trying to return was done by Telesur,Chavez's propaganda cable network.
I love SC!!! And now SENATOR I do a lot more!! Thanks for saying the truth of what its going on in Honduras.. Obama.. im speechless.. i had such great hopes of you man...
Thank you, Senator for sayig the truth to the american people about Honduras. We are a peaceful country and want to live in liberty and Mr. Zelaya was taking these elementary rigths friom us. Never before, in the Honduras history you will find a more confronted society than in the last 3 years.
This he wanted to do simultaneous with the eleccions next January, and therefor never intended to prolonge his presidency.
Although it's up to the people for how long they want their president. In a true democracy, that is.
This man is defending Micheletti, an usurper, that by the same constitucion, Article 2, should be ripped of his citizenship, and tried for treason against the Republic of Honduras
GuzzNizz You have no clue!!! are you proud of your ignorance ? please do some research, not just 'google' a topic and declare yourself a pro on our constitution!
why don't you stick to watching videos of Britney Spears & Idolizing Chavez.
wow! you are not in Honduras! how do you know what is going on? by what you see on CNN? Telesur? 'googling'?
There are over 7million people in our Country, about 75,000 are upset, or have been paid to be upset and create havoc, recruit more ignorants to bring chaos to our streets. Many of these aren't even from Honduras!99% support our government! look at all the pro manifestations nationwide, oh those aren't as exciting (no blood) let the media and your 'ideology' do the thinking for you
I'm watching, but I'm not seeing any pro-coup'ers anywhere. All I see is an usurper with difficulties to explain why he should be president, and a bunch of gorilas shooting at the Honduran people...
Thank you Senator!! Finally someone is listening to the truth. Thank you for helping us maintain our TRUE democracy, not Chavez´s democracy. It is a shame that the press, such as CNN in spanish ,does not project the real situation in Honduras. THANK YOU!!!

The honduran constitution was written 1982, the same year the military dictature "ended" and american puppet-president Roberto Suazo took charge. It states that there are 3 instances that forms the Honduran government. Zelaya wanted to change the constitution to include a fourth instance, namely "the fourth urn", who would be the people. As it is now the rich elite controls the all-way-through corrupt system
THANK YOU SENATOR!! please conitnue to voice of the truth, we have not had a chance to voice it ourselves since we have been judged and sentenced without a chance of rebuttal.
YES, THE CHAVEZ/CASTRO REGIME ARE BEHIND ALL THIS. PLEASE DO NOT SENTENCE 7.5MILLION HONDURANS WHO WANT A FAIR CHANCE OF FREEDOM TO AN AUTOCRATIC GOVERNMENT. ZELAYA HAS BEEN LYING THROUGH HIS TEETH, AND IT DEEPLY SADDENS US THAT THE WORLD HAS BOUGHT HIS LIES.

Antoshik81 2 years ago
The military was just enforcing the law, dude. And it has nothing to do with 'right-wing' governments. I don't care where you are on the political spectrum. If you break the law and violate the constitution, you deserve to be removed from office. Plain and simple.
And the method by which he was removed is permitted by the Honduran constitution and was ordered by the supreme court of Honduras.
xtreme1002003 2 years ago 3
You are getting all the facts wong. This is not about right wing or left wings fighting for power. Michelletti is from Zelaya's OWN PARTY. And where did you get the crazy idea that journalists are being detained, beaten up and killed? Are you mistaking Honduras with Venezuela??? Yes, there was one protester killed and this is precisely the sort of violence the government has being trying to avoid by exiling Mr. Zelaya the day of the so-called "COUP".

And, until the OAS stops supporting Communist dictatorships the USA should stop funding it. Or, rather put that money in another institution that could be created to represent all nations of the western hemisphere including the North and let the lefties led by Chavez have their own institutional set up.

This is basically because the Secretary General of the OAS is a leftist academician who in the sixties and seventies was an admirer of Fidel Castro and his revolution.
