This track is just in the pocket... I don't care abouth the chords notes or resolve...My ears say it sounds good....I feel the need to sing over it everytime I hear it!
@GavinClementMelanson B#Maj as a key wouldn't be practical, nor would it make any real difference, since B#maj is a mostly theoretical scale.
The biggest difference between Amin and Cmaj is the note or chord that it resolves to. Amin resolves to an A note or A minor chord, Cmaj resolves to an C or a C major chord. This progression clearly resolves to Cmaj (mostly because of the V7). If you would play an A minor scale over this progression, you would only end up playing in C major.
@Sqaarg when i told him they were the same. i meant pattern wise. not note wise or anything to do with the chord. i told him play Am or Cmaj simply because some people don't know both the maj pattern and the min pattern. so i simply said play Cmaj or its relative minor. which is Am.
Extremely fun and chill to play over! Gotta love those maj7, m7 and dominant7 chords, they don't have that extremely stable tonality that regular major and minor chords have. Gives room for the melody guitar to make the tonality interesting. Thank you!
@bodhidarma1 All of the notes that are in the Em pentatonic scale are in the E phrygian mode, which is one of the positions in the key of C major. You're not really playing Em pentatonic you're just playing a pentatonic version of E phrygian.
Having said that, play whatever sounds good it really doesn't matter.
the drum beat doesn't fit with the super chill melody.

I really liked this track. I posted a video response but I don't see it anywhere on this page. Maybe you just didn't "approve" it yet?

no complaints but the drums seem a little loud over the chords? little hard to hear the changes, course if I could play I'd go by measures I guess

Can anyone explain why e minor pentatonic work so well over this?
