@Chicharonization it hurts but most filipinos nowadays are so colonial minded when they notice something similar just a little like even 10% they'll say OMG copycat but if our artists are original they wont do that it's filipino copycats faults why they do that because they wont find another music if the music of their own countryman is nice but all the thing i could say is let's be happy now we are starting to make ORIGINALS!?
Then, when Filipinos make origina music, they'll say "baduy", "cheap" even without trying to look at it objectively. Filipino made is automatically cheap imitation. So is Arnel Pineda a cheap imitation of Steve Perry as much as xlr8 is a cheap imitation of SuJu? Duh, if Filipinos look at things objectively, it's likely that we have someone to match the greatness of Steve Perry and that Filipinos could match Super Junior(if not, outmatch them if SuJu does not improve on their vocals)
@Chicharonization agreed. i want to say to everyone of the haters that are filipino.. "yeah, hey, as much as i do love koreans and kpop, and i do love you for supporting, but your filipino... alittle pride and support to your culture would be nice.."
I hope you don't take my reply as an attack on you, mejo nawindang lang ako. Pero Filipinos whould be happy na we're starting to make originals again. Hopefully those who keep on reviving songs will start making originals.
I just don't like the mentality of some Filipinos where they consider anything Filipino-made to be inferior. Tapos the same people will say that Filipinos rule when our talents get recognized abroad.
Give this group a chance before you say shit. fyi. Kpop is influenced by Jpop (vice versa) and American pop. Not to mention kpop songs have a lot of plagiarism issues. You have no right to say that this group is a copy cat. Music can also be a mix of cultures. And someday Ppop will evolve as it's own.
Looking for 100% originality? Go make your own and let's see if you can.
sa mga nagagalit naman dyan sa pop girls actually hindi sila ang dapat kagalitan kundi ang gumawa ng MV ng crazy crazy na talagang ginaya ang iba't ibang concept ng k-pop groups sa video at ang gumawa ng sayaw LEGENDARY nga ang pinagawa eh matanda na naman yun bat di sila maghanap ng mas bata andami daming magagaling na choreographers yun pa yung kinuha for me let's give them a chance i'll go for YES lols PILIPINAS GOT TALENT hahaha!?
I hope that they'll be Multifaceted artists who can sing, act and dance and not just look good on screen. I mean so far the Philippines is filled with good looking but talentless individuals. I mean talk about mediocre acting, singing or dancing although Im not saying all of them fall under that category I just hope that Filipino artist wouldnt just be a bunch of good looking people they should at least be a group of good looking people with real genuine talent.
@kittykhatz20 I agree with the acting part but SINGING and DANCING?
If you look at the LIVE(w/o lipsyncing) performances of Boy and girl groups in SKorea, they sound bad. Only in CDs to they sound good since there's been a lot of vocal processing.
Even singer-wannabe sam milby sound better than SS501 and SUJU when they sing live. And Toni Gonzaga, another singer wannabe singer wannabe sound better than SNSD and WG in singing live.
@Chicharonization tama tama si lito camo mabuti pa gumawa siya ng mga tipong twinkle2 little star songs yung mga kinakanta ng bata yung igiling giling nga bata lang ang may gusto eh!?
if Jpop was allowed to model its pop music from the West, and Kpop from Jpop, why aren't SOUTHEAST ASIANS allowed to?
So much colonial mentality thinking that whatever we do will be a copy or something inferior.
Take the case of Arnel Pineda and Charice. it took foreigners to appreciate them to get Filipinos appreciate these talents. Now, a lot of 'fans' are in the bandwagon. Not that it's wrong but does it really have to be the foreigners who'd appreciate them first?
@joesel19 I don't mean it that way. What you said is so mean. Since Lito Camo can make catchy tunes, he should jsut do it the right way: write proper and meaningful lyrics.
@Chicharonization I heard his relatively new Willie song. A little improvement, pwede ng serious na pop song, kasi considered syang novelty song di ba.
I think they may have potential... I just hope they come up with more original pieces and not songs that sound as if they were copied from some sync kpop or jpop song... unfortunately though it's a trend so they may get in the band wagon. I mean that's what's raving in the Asian region right now.
@Chicharonization you know why they dont say especially now that KPOP is a rip off of JPOP it's because it's year 2010 for short it has been 60yrs. they have that genre so japan dont care anymore because KPOP evolved too and had it's unique blend to produce new music LESS INSPIRED BY JPOP it's like you saying that even after a day a man will eat what he eated yesterday of course you'll think off another dish!?
@joesel19 I know but what I meant to say is that this kind of pop is very new in the Phils; just as much as when Kpop started. it was really like a Jpop ripp off.
But then, these antis fail to see the point.
Even the dancing boyband of Japan, in its early stage was so like the boyband trend that started in the West yet no one called them copycats. They were considered cool.
@joesel19 I forgot to say that Kpop is a lot like the present American Pop(Lady Gaga-isnms and excessive autotune). To the point that there even are plagiarism issues. I need not to mention this artists again.
I'm not saying you must love this kind of Pinoy pop but really. TAKE A LOOK AT IT OBJECTIVELY.
I have a feeling na yung ibang anti dito, walang gaanong alam tungkol sa roots ng Kpop (yung mga nakisabit lang dahil sa Wonder Girls & 2ne1?). Dito pa lang sa YouTube you can gather a lot of info lalo na tungkol sa old-school Kpop artists and how their sound evolved, back when Seo Taiji and company made their debut, all the way to the present. Hopefully kahit dahan-dahan something similar happens here para sumigla ulit ang Pinoy Music and mas lalong makilala ang mga performers natin overseas.
I hope record producers tone down the autotune. I know this is the trend but this is the Phils where vocals does matter. Reduce the autotune to show off their vocals
=)
and so that they won't have to lipsync when performing live
Pop Girls sucks. XLR8 got the potential of making it big. Support them guys. This is how we all Asian Countries are..at least Philippines is not trying to be like those emo american bands anymore..they're trying to keep up with the latest Asian Music since they know that copying american music won't make them big. so please support these new group. and just go dump Pop Girls.
