@whatever04811 i never liked chryslers but after seeing the 300 in person, it has more presence than audis, mercs, bmws in it's class- price range. no joke. can't speak for interior and drive cause i ain't been inside.
if You are talking about engine, now they have system disabling half of pistons if not needed. So imagine how ecomonic is it with power you are still able to use.
wow it is so slow but still got a 3.6 liter v6. you americans need to learn more engineering for cars. my dads Audi A5 sportback can do 0-60 in lower than 6.5 secs but it only has a 2.0 liter V4
We rented this car for a week while my car was in the shop, and let me tell you, I fell in love with it. I loved the color, heated seats, the way it felt when it drove and the leg room. The radio buttons on the back of the steering wheel felt natural and the back up screen in the dash board was very impressive. The designers made this into a "smart car", it's like the car is thinking for you. Loved it. I give it two thumbs up!
I have old 300c with v8 engine and it's better, than the old 3.5 litre. But if I'm going to buy the new 300 I'd go with 3.6 litre, cause it's lighter, more fuel efficent and 300 hp is really enough (253 that old v6 produced wasn't).
How about doing a proper test of the car ? ...this BS that you have made here, doesnt say anything about the new features or about how the car will be to live with. This is not a race car, its a luxury car.
@bufbarnaby That might be true. But why is this caucasian driving this 300 in this YouTube video? (Search for "Chrysler 300c 24s Black on Black") I guess he did not understand the ads or perhaps did what the freak he wanted with his freaking money. OooRah!!!!
@macosftw More than you need ? It's only half a second faster than a 4 cylinder Camry to 60 and half a second slower than a 4 Cylinder Hyundai Sonata....
@98MAzdaMilleniaS But for people like me who are 6'5", this chrysler would win just because of seating position, and room. Remeber that people come in all sizes, sometimes I feel like the automobile world forgets about the tall guys.
The Chrysler 300 is one of the best looking cars on the road. Slap on a V-4 2.4 Liter 200 Horsepower engine with CV-T. All you need to take you from Point A to Point B for just $21,000.
@tnguyen318 like a plain old gas engine or a hybrid four cylinder? because a hybrid with some/most of the performance specs alrady on the 300 would make a great car
@tnguyen318 i see and i agree.... but i don't think most people would buy a 300 just for A-B driving, it's a very bold and suburbia-fancy machine, definitely more of a statement/Limo car than a A-B mover....
what would you think of a hybrid four cylinder or a turbocharged similar to that in vw's or ford's ecoboost engine?
I don't know how the function of an engine works. Top Speed 100 MPH with Acceleration of 0-60 in 7 second is good enough. My 2006 Honda Accord Automatic did 6.9 which was pretty fast. If we can increase the compression and lessen the Top Gear it would be awesome. Guess youll be driving on First, Second and Third Gear all the time. Which may burn more gasoline unless you use a good Transmission on Front Wheel Drive. Or shall I say stick-shift compression ratio. Top Speed Kills.
Chrysler did a much better job on this generation of the 300 cars. Not bad. If I were to get one it would be the V6 version, with their 8-speed auto and some nice 19 inch rims- all black everything.
@nikobellic2008 In Germany it is probably just a cheaper alternative to a Mercedes or BMW. In the USA this car is only for blacks or for wannabe blacks to think they are "big pimpin" or "ballin". Even the TV advertisements for the 300 show blacks driving it and the car is clearly meant for blacks. Every time I see a 300 it usually has ugly chrome ghetto wheels on it and a ghetto moron behind the wheel pretending they are a rapper
@98MAzdaMilleniaS Because Chrysler commercials are about Detroit , about luxury that comes out of,poverty and hardship its about everyone in Detroit. You might remember the Superbowl Chrysler commercial with Eminem who is white .There are black people in Chrysler commercials because there are a lot of black people were Chrysler comes from and that's Detroit !
@nikobellic2008 So you dont care about reality? I dont want people to think that I am a wannabe nigger with a nigger ghetto wannabe bentley. I dont want people to think im stupid
Not a bad car, too bad it has become known as the ghetto bentley. The people who bought them have ruined the car for normal people. Its kind of like Tommy Hilfiger clothing, nice clothing but the ghetto rats ruined it for normal people.
@maxawesuse I agree with you completely. The minorities have to "ghettofy" everything and ruin it for the people it was truly meant for. Dont forget Ralph Lauren Polo too. (they arent AS bad as Hilfiger yet though).
To those saying it has lost its "bad ass Mafia look"
This is Bad Ass Mafia Look.
It looks like something off the Godfather and sitting near the likes of a Jaguar XJ or Maserati Quattroporte in the carpark. The old one was more likely Wannabe Gangsta from the hood.
@mondeost2202008 An Italian Mafia Boss such as the Godfather would only buy a Cadillac, Imperial,or a Lincoln. Maseratis and Jaguars were Eurotrash to any American of good taste in the 1950s and 1960s.
@ForzaJersey In this one documentary I saw (forgot the name), one of the Mafia's Boss in America was driven around in a Jaguar XJ. The CIA even planted a wire tapping device onto it.
And I find a Mafia Boss would be more fitting to come out of A Quattroporte (any generation) than a Merc or a Rolls.
@mondeost2202008 I agree on the Maserati, believe me I wouldn't be surprised. However, knowing what Italian-Americans preferred in the 1940s-1970s, a Caddy was the top pick followed by a Lincoln or Imperial.
Bland looking car, with poor reliability, nil for resale value and that unreliability that chrysler is famous for. Chrysler use to be good... what happened!
@hallal55 they do have the same platform but everything else was changed.....the platform is just dimensions basically.....EVERYTHING IS NEW!!!! except the 5.7 Hemi that just went up in power and torque a lil

BTW, the joke about Audi wanting their headlights back is old. LED headlights will be everywhere soon.
(!!) How to make a legendary american car seem like a german one... why to copy from european projects? ok, we are global now but do really americans like this types of cars?
Overall the body looks really good. But the front grill, remembers me a lot something from the late 90's to early 2000's pass models. And those were ugly cars.
who ever hired this guy to narrate, and even to talk about cars at Motor Trend has mad a terrible choice his choice of words such as "plain old" and "cheap" sound really misplaced when discribing a new vehicle, i would take it that he is just uneducated, because that the way he sounds
I am truly disappointed with the redesign of the 300c. The grill and lights sit too low below the hood. When viewing the car from the side, the Front end is not as vertical. they tried to angle the front end a little too much..............A more vertical front end gives a more blunt, no compromise and classic look. Now it appears as though that they are trying to have the car appear more like an average "family sedan", such as the Ford Taurus.
as a student going to school for transportation design, id like to see some more intelligent comments in regards to the design elements of the car. a lot of people on here talking about how ugly the car is but i dont see anyone saying WHY the car is ugly.
does any1 know if it comes in that brown color that was shown at detriot auto show 2011? and what about those wheel also shown there? and does any1 know when accesories will be available at mopars website?
@mehky002 - Does the title say "REVIEW"? It says first drive. Anyone speak english anymore. Bunch of morons coming on hear bitching about "what kind of review is this"? Morons.
WTF do you expect from a family sedan? It looks way better than a Honda or Toyota! Sure, it looks more refined and less gangsta-which is good for almost all families that want a more subdued styling. Somewhat like a cheap Mercedes. As long as it's comfy and quiet inside, bhp doesn't matter! It may not last as long as a Honda, but if the gas mileage is not much less and price tag is close, it should compete well. If this new 300 has classy interiors that is not cheap, it'll sale.
this car looks great, screw the haters out there! it looks soo much better than the previous generation. it looks soo much more luxurious, props to fiat!
jezzus, PLEASE tell us somthing other than how fast it goes... for example, its like reviewing a rolls royce and only saying how "sporty" it is... its just stupid
I don't think Chrysler is trying to be the best in the acceleration, braking, and g's with the 300, the Charger and Challenger could take care of that.
This car is suppost to be for the guy who can't afford a Cadillac, or for some young honey guy to bolt on 22's and try to pick up as many ladies as possible outside a club.
That's why Top Gear makes the best car reviews, cause they actually know about cars.
recall "Different market and group of customers 4door vs. 2 door??"
either way the point I wanted to make was that not every car should be reviewed on the testing track and judged based on 0-60, braking, g's and cornering
The front grill isn't as prominent, and looks cheaper, less Rolls Royce. And the side is just too bulky, and the belt line is too high, probably going to interfere with visibility. Well all and all another fail from Chrysler LLC. Just like Government Motors.
Where's the Automobile magazine review of the 300?! That was a complete waste of time watching that. Who cares about numbers! It's a new luxury sedan, what's it like to drive? What are it's features?
Where's the Automobile magazine review of the 300?! That was a complete waste of time watching that. Who cares about numbers! It's a new luxury sedan, what's it like to drive? What are it's features?
For everyone who misses the classic egg-crate grille from the last 300, Mopar.com is selling egg-crate grilles for the 2011 model, so don't let that keep you from buying one. Although I do wish they'd made the grille a bit bigger, you can still get a significant part of the look the last one had. And, for 2011, they've made the rear-end styling a bit more like the original 1957 model, which is an improvement over last year.
okay look, the car isnt that bad. I mean this is NOT a 300c. it should not even be called a 300. as a car in general, i dont think it is too bad looking. it will lose customers though
@SOLDIER713281 Those engines are coming 3.0 L Pentastar V6 Turbo Charged 370 HP, 3.0 L Pentastar V6 Twin Turbo Charged 420 HP. As far as the V8's are alredy here 5.7 L Hemi 363 HP, SRT 6.4 L 392 Hemi 470 HP.
I'll give Chrysler this, impressive horsepower specs for the new V6, but the funny thing is, just about any family sedan V6 Accord/Camry/Fusion could still outrun it to 60, with less power. Yayyyy for hefty cars.
NOT! 0-60 is about 6.5 sec ...

as a student going to school for transportation design, id like to see some more intelligent comments in regards to the design elements of the car. a lot of people on here talking about how ugly the car is but i dont see anyone saying WHY the car is ugly.

If this new 300 has classy interiors that is not cheap, it'll sale.
shawnspeed3 1 year ago
300 = the minimum horsepower figure regardless of the engine. Why did Chrysler stop at 292hp? For pity's sake, just knock over 300hp. At least 300hp.

this car looks great, screw the haters out there! it looks soo much better than the previous generation. it looks soo much more luxurious, props to fiat!

jezzus, PLEASE tell us somthing other than how fast it goes... for example, its like reviewing a rolls royce and only saying how "sporty" it is... its just stupid

I prefred the other front end, they must of let a white guy instead of a black guy design it this time lol
DSNCB919 1 year ago
I don't think Chrysler is trying to be the best in the acceleration, braking, and g's with the 300, the Charger and Challenger could take care of that.
This car is suppost to be for the guy who can't afford a Cadillac, or for some young honey guy to bolt on 22's and try to pick up as many ladies as possible outside a club.
That's why Top Gear makes the best car reviews, cause they actually know about cars.
AwesomeAlvin 1 year ago
@AwesomeAlvin the charger and 300 are same platform same engine, same parts...

@hallal55 Different market and group of customers 4door vs. 2 door??
AwesomeAlvin 1 year ago
@AwesomeAlvin charger is 4 door..... the CHALLANGER is the 2 door coupe
hallal55 1 year ago
This has been flagged as spam show
@hallal55 That was exactly what I said
recall "Different market and group of customers 4door vs. 2 door??"
either way the point I wanted to make was that not every car should be reviewed on the testing track and judged based on 0-60, braking, g's and cornering

an interior shot would have been nice

i dont know why everybody hates the front, the front is nice! the interior is better but the part tht is uglywould be the back of the car.

Chrysler is dead i say we just bring Alfa over to replace it!
DJNastie 1 year ago
The front grill isn't as prominent, and looks cheaper, less Rolls Royce. And the side is just too bulky, and the belt line is too high, probably going to interfere with visibility. Well all and all another fail from Chrysler LLC. Just like Government Motors.

Where's the Automobile magazine review of the 300?! That was a complete waste of time watching that. Who cares about numbers! It's a new luxury sedan, what's it like to drive? What are it's features?

For everyone who misses the classic egg-crate grille from the last 300, Mopar.com is selling egg-crate grilles for the 2011 model, so don't let that keep you from buying one. Although I do wish they'd made the grille a bit bigger, you can still get a significant part of the look the last one had. And, for 2011, they've made the rear-end styling a bit more like the original 1957 model, which is an improvement over last year.

okay look, the car isnt that bad. I mean this is NOT a 300c. it should not even be called a 300. as a car in general, i dont think it is too bad looking. it will lose customers though

SOLDIER713281 1 year ago
@SOLDIER713281 Those engines are coming 3.0 L Pentastar V6 Turbo Charged 370 HP, 3.0 L Pentastar V6 Twin Turbo Charged 420 HP. As far as the V8's are alredy here 5.7 L Hemi 363 HP, SRT 6.4 L 392 Hemi 470 HP.

"…which means it only has the V6." Nuff said.
epicnaptime 1 year ago
I'll give Chrysler this, impressive horsepower specs for the new V6, but the funny thing is, just about any family sedan V6 Accord/Camry/Fusion could still outrun it to 60, with less power. Yayyyy for hefty cars.
