My girlfriend has an African Grey, and from what I've read, they don't necessarily need water baths or showers, and can do fine by just flapping their wings to rid themselves of loose feathers and dander. Her bird flaps her wings all day long, even clipped can produce quite a breeze.

@singldad39 That's not correct. Showering doesn't have anything to do with getting rid of loose feathers and dander. It is necessary to keep the bird's skin healthy and to soften the sheaths around new pin feathers so the feathers will develop correctly.

I got pissed with my parrot one day, I had my Bose Headphones I only had one month using it because I got close to my bird, and once my bird bit it, he bit it like he had a Very Sharp Blade in his beak.

Lesson 1 dont give a bird a shower if they dont want one. Lesson 2: african greys are very suspicious of things, so dont put the camera so close to the bird. Lesson 3: if bird doesnt like shower, get the blow dryer out (only if bird is used to it) and blow it dry on low w/dryer far away from bird. He'll be happier then.
