i remember driving stick my first time. i could do it sorta ok but when i came to a stop on a hill, it was nearly impossible to get the car into gear when you have to stay on the brake so it dont roll backwards, also while giving it gas and shifting all at once. its silly really. stick shifts are stupid and pointless.

If you know how to shift, you won't even notice it and/or have to think about it anymore. For me it's automatism, I know my car, I know my motorcycle, I know what the engine sounds like on both, so I know when to shift. Also, it might just be me, but with shifting you have a better connection with the vehicle, though of course I can't prove this, it's a feeling.. And yes I've driven automatic cars [Lexus RX350, Nissan Teana V6, VW Golf 1.6&R32, and a couple others, just for reference (: ].

It's always just a matter of getting used to it. When I drive in an other car than my current one, or move from an automatic to a manual car, I'll make mistakes as well, stalling etc.

Has anyone noticed that no one turns on their turn signal when either turning right or switching lanes anymore?

I'll keep a distance from a car in the right lane and out of nowhere they turn right and I have to slam on the breaks.
